Fellow caster! I can't help but feel like our respective projects had similar goals which is interesting to see alternate versions! very cool submission. :D
I had a blast playing this! A solid twin stick shooter! I don’t need to reiterate what others have said before (smaller hit box, keyboard+mouse, etc) as it sounds like you have bug fixes on the way. Great entry, well done!
Outstanding, had a blast with this rpg bullet dodging experience. Awesome art, music, and visual effects to set the mood
I've updated the project with all the bug fixes mentioned in the comments!
Really solid all around. I love the progression and atmosphere.
A few points of feedback:
-The players hitbox felt too punishing. It was very hard to slip between bullets on the shotgun/circle patterns.
-Some visual distinction between enemies with different patterns would let the player anticipate their moves.
-Enemy bullets were sometimes hard to see. Someone else mentioned they were a little small, but they're also a similar color to the level.
Thank you for the feedback, I'm trying to incorporate all these ideas. Someone earlier suggested that the larger bullets and it worked out great! To back I can't upload during the judging period. I've fixed a ton of bugs since the submission and I did reduce the size of the player hitbox. I'm also toying with the idea of adding local coop.
Very well polished, amazing atmosphere, incredible graphics and immaculate sound design.
The perfect package that I honestly wouldn't be able to tell apart from a full, non jam, game.
A nice cool and atmospheric twin stick shooter here. I am a professional machine-gun wizard.
A second or two of invulnerability after taking damage would be nice. When a monster spawned on top of me, I would lose half my health in an instant.
good game, I like the visuals and the mechanics
Fun little game you did there - I got to level 19 on my first try. :)
What's the big dino for? I thought this to be a boss, but the gates opened after defeating the minions.
Maybe the bullets could be a bit bigger, or read better, and some screenshake would be good for the juice/feel.
The dungeon crawling aspect with the single rooms is fun. Just like Zelda 1 or Binding of Isaac.
I can't post an update until after the jam voting, but I added the bullet size increase, you're right it does work better. I've also added the mouse keyboard control switching although, it seems much harder to play with the mouse and keyboard. The boss was a last minute addition. It's not hooked into the wave end state, I fix that.
I've posted the update will all the suggestions and bug fixes.
Really well polished art, a bit of a pain that it was controller only. Also twin stick shooting while having a shoot button didnt feel too great. Game juice/fell felt really good though, nice liberal usage of lighting effects.
Good game, but you should allow the use of the keyboard as controls.
I went specifically to other room for a gamepad to play :D
A very nice and interesting game, nice assets that create a nice atmosphere. It's a pity that there is no option for a mouse + keyboard because not everyone has a gamepad. :P Good job!
Is there no way to play on mouse & keyboard?
I didn't have time to code the switching mechanism.
that really sucks :(
I think it's crucial to have mouse and keyboard as default controls, cause we all play on PCs right? It should be your default option. I don't have controller so I just can't play your game :/, but it looks nice at the first look
