Upgrade system was perfectly on theme, and everything about this game was well polished. I especially loved the camera shake when you're shooting

Submitted

I survived to level 3 and got to see some of the upgrade systems which was cool.

This game is well polished for sure here's what I liked and didn't like:

Gameplay loop:

This game is really simple and straightforward in  its premise and a lot of things help bring that feeling of a bullet 'Heaven' the game doesn't take itself that seriously with the new wave tips (I found mostly  fun lighthearted messages). As for actual gameplay I think the control scheme how bullets feel and sizing is all right on the mark for this game nothing feels out of place or generally broken.

Upgrades cards with a positive and negative sure does well towards making a dynamic build system for more playthroughs of the game so you can see them all. I do want to bring up the fact that it looks like each wave has a downside that will be in all of your options or nearly all, for example on my wave 1 upgrade screen I was forced to chose between the bad leaf downside or the schizophrenia  downside which of the 3 options left me wanting more random downsides. This could be a lack of downsides actually available in the game or a problem in how cards are programmed to spawn. Either way upgrades/downgrades felt like they had a good impact on the game and nothing felt too overpowered or too punishing.

Art/Music style:

The art for this game is what made me want to play and review this game in the first place, Making simple sprites with hard outlines creates a unique style that is visually pleasing. Music wise this game has a synthy backbeat that isn't annoying to the point that if you listened to it on loop for awhile you would hate it. I would speak more on art style and direction but for the most part everything fit well into this game which made me think that the developer for Tinker Toy Tanks is either rather experienced with game development or this was  team effort either way good job.

I don't have much else to say about this game as what it sets out to do is executed flawlessly and there isn't much critique I can provide. This game reminds me of something you would play for cheap or free on the Xbox 360's live arcade. I could see this game with maybe some more depth and expanded systems for the upgrade/downgrades being a full release on steam for a low price under $10.

This game is SUPER well-made!! It's really, really juicy and the art is just amazing. I liked how you could really feel the effect of each upgrade -- none of them felt like just stat upgrades. Amazing job!!!

Super awesome game !

This was tons of fun to try, the artstyle is beautiful, these either sprites or models (i can’t even tell that’s how well animated this is) are animated buttery smooth.

I kinda like the contrast of the very chill music opposed to how chaotic the gameplay gets with all the shots everywhere.

There’s also a good amount of variety on offer here both with the starting weapon options, the powerups/curses and the different type of enemies.

Feels already quite polished as it is right now. Great job ! :)

Love the art style, looks great! The gameplay is juicy, very fun and responsive. Great game

Really nice art style; I'm a sucker for cute tank games! It felt polished and responsive and I think it was pretty well balanced. The screen shake on the player firing is a little much though. Great job!

This is SO GOOD!! Really had so much fun playing it. Got to level 10 or so I think and then the game slowed down suuuper drastically and I had to restart. I'm gonna replay using each gun cause it's just that fun. Best score i've given out so far. Really nice gameplay, difficulty level, ambience, attention to detail, everything. Great submission.

A lot of fun and looks great!

The screen shake is a bit much for me personally, but other than that - the visuals are nice,  general game play is really good! Well done.

Realy liked the design with good graphics. The negative efects was the most fun part in my oppinion with ilusion bullets and the descripstion of the upp/down grades was realy fun. 5/5 would play again

THIS LOOKS TREMENDOUS.

The idea on the choices between levels is very interesting and ties with the theme.

Come on!!! Look at this cute tank swiveling his turret around, you can't help but tinker with it ^^ This looks like the best amiga game never made.

The bullets look very good and are very visually apppealing, quite unique style, I don't remember seeing something like that anywhere else.

After a while I have a feeling the levels repeat themself a little.

Gameplay remark> if it is  needed to target with the mouse while dodging, a big and visible target reticle following the mouse (that you can follow from the corner of your eye) will help (as the tank is more pew pause pew than a constant stream of fire)

wow, this is definitely one of the more enthusiastic reviews for a game I've made, im glad you enjoyed it that much! Im flattered to be compared to the amiga artstyle, even though i didnt have it in mind while making the game haha, im planning on releasing a small post jam patch to add disable screenshake amongst other slight qualities of life

Got to level 11 with shotgun.

Nice camera shaking effects and audio design! It was satisfying to shooting down enemies.

Very excellent. Love the upgrade system that also adds something to the enemies! Although Splitter + Rubber bullets looks rather overpowered. Enemies also don't seem to change all that much; bullet density's not really increasing all that quickly. Still, really fun, good-looking too.

Awesome theme incorporation with the upgrade system! The best theme I have seen so far!! It wasn't as challenging as I was hoping. Unfortunately I ran into an unplayable permanent frame drop after wave 4 :( Otherwise, I loved this submission!

Great tank designs and I am a fan of these unique upgrade systems. One thing I'd like to suggest is a way to remove the camera shaking as it is disorienting, especially when you're killing large waves of enemies.

This is a fantastic entry! The entire concept of consequences is thoroughly tied into the game. The different attack strategies allow for different styles of play and while the game is very hard, it is also fair. The graphics are mostly clean, though some of the upgrade iconography seem a bit weird and unclear. The music is chilling out in the background and is good background noise. Great job, well done!

Really clean visuals. Such soothing music to destroy legions of tanks to XD
