Loved the game! And the music was just beautiful! Liked the shanty.
The only thing for me was that the tenticles were a bit hard to control.

This was frustrating but very fun! Also, really nice amount of polish in the visual and audio categories. As for controls, I would personally add an option to untangle your tentacles quickly, even if it's on cooldown, or a way of saying "let's restart this now". When I got my tentacles fully tangled with 20 seconds to go and had to sit there just waiting it became really unfun.
High score: 1000.
Love the song! The controls are wierd which makes them really fun. Highscore: 700.
I love the concept ! Had a hard time controlling the tentacles but fun anyways.
Thanks for sharing
before the game starts I was thinking "this menu gives me the sea shanty vibes " and I was surprised when the audio started XD, a great game I struggled a bit with the controls at first. it is fun and interesting
nice work .
Hey!
I have some feedback!
To start off, good job on making the ships give the player more time. However, maybe instead of increasing the time by 5 seconds, they could give something like 7-12?
Also, it was really annoying when at the start of the game my arms would just get stuck due to weird collisions on the "thing" holding the arms ( happened on other occasions too ).
Lastly, would be cool if there was some kind of special ship that gave more points for beating it.
This is my high score:
Edit: good job on the music too!
Thanks for taking the time to leave such good feedback! We really appreciate it.
I like the idea of increasing the time given per ship eaten. I also really like the idea a "bonus ship" that gave more points. I think that would add a really fun, and new element to the game to have them show up every now and then and franticly try to eat one. We talked about maybe adding some sort of flying hot air ballon, but just ran out of time. The original idea for the game actually started off as you playing as a lighthouse, spotting monsters for ships as they passed bye, but after a week of working on that idea, we were finding it kind of boring. So we decided to scrap that and start over. We landed on the idea of playing as a monster and smashing/eating ships would be way more fun. The tentacles went through a lot of debate and changes in the final week of production, and I agree need much more tuning and play testing.
The sea shanty was an idea that the came in at start of the creative process and stayed with both versions of the game. All the music and sound was made, written, and performed by our talented sound designer Chris Sensebe.
What a creative idea! I love that the tentacles are physics objects that react in ways real tentacles would, but they also got stuck alot, becuase they collide with themself, and when u get the tentacles tangled its really dificult freeing them, Maybe if they only collided with the other tentacle it would fix the problem.
Also the kraken song is Amazing!!!
Great job!
I have to forgo rating this as I can't get the game to start :(
I have a large PC monitor and this problem happens a lot with unity games for some reason.
I love the concept! The art and especially music are great as well.
The gameplay is fun, but I feel the controls could be iterated upon. Maybe I'm just bad, but I found that once I got the left tentacle tangled there was no way I could bring it back up. I didn't have this problem with the right one, and in general I found operating with it easier. I think it's because the tentacles actually are different - below is a screenshot of both tentacles pushed to the outside. Notice how they curve differently.
Still, great game, I think with slight post jam improvements it will really shine.
You're right, I misspoke slightly - the problem is not that they are not the same (they are), the problem is that they are not symmetrical. So the physics when moving them to the left are different than when moving to the right. But the movement you're doing with them is often symmetrical, so they effectively end up handling differently. It's a bit confusing, but I think the image I posted illustrates that pretty well.
Frustrating, but in a good way. Took a bit to figure out what I was supposed to do and how I was supposed to do it. Once I did, it felt good.
Loved the visuals.
Wasn’t able to really pay attention to the song so it would have been nice for it to continue playing on the game over screen.
Overall, great job.
I loved the music! The graphics are really cool, a little hard at first to manage the tentacles but once you get the hang of it it's fun. Congrats!
Sick game! Reminds me of the flash games I used to play as a kid... but better!
Did you make the song that plays in the game?
Funny music! love it. The controls were a bitch weird at first, took some time to get used to. At first I tangles my tentacles up into knots haha but finally got into a rhythm. Nicely done.
