That's a nice game my dude.
It is totally something you should make for mobile.
But let's speak about the current jam entry.
Please keep going, I need some new games on Android ;)
Outstanding work for a game jam. The attention to detail and game feel is impressive, specially the overall behaviour of the explosions and particle systems. I particularly enjoyed the slow motion mechanic when shooting the agents, it's just incredibly satisfying. The main menu idea is also pretty clever.
The aesthetics and audio are really well suited for the casual feel of the game. The music doesn't feel annoying or repetitive at any given point, and I believe that's because the attention is at the most part being drawn by the audio of the explosions.
My only two suggestions would be to implement some sort of shop to be able to spend the earned currency. I'd be more than willing to spend some coins so that I could select my first weapon beforehand, for example. The second one would be to release the game on mobile platforms, seriously.
Amazing work, guys. Congratulations.
Thanks. Both of your suggestions are on the roadmap. Thank you.
Very well done! this game was super fun. Rated. Check out our game.
Fun and polished. Really good game. Impressive that you managed to do this in a week, congrats!
Give my game a shot if you can ;)
I seem to be unable to play the game. I have a dual monitor setup and I end up having the game on one screen and the aim is calculated by the total width of both displays.
Hmmm. Have you tried pressing Alt+Enter to go into windowed mode, then move the window, then press Alt+Enter again? Alternatively, if all else fails, you can use this link to play in browser: http://www.inprincipleinc.com/games/FlatoutDrillin/index.html
So window mode and html5 thank you
Great work !
Suggestion : Don't change the hand which hold the gun when you rotate the mouse maybe because it's weird but it's a little change compare to your nice work :D
Hey there. Haha, we spotted that immediately and we thought it was funny, so we left that in. To be fair, it would be an issue if we didn't to that, because the position of the gun would have to change on the X axis otherwise. Shooting left would have the gun protruding further than the body, compared to the mirrored version. It's 2D, so compromises are necessary. Cast your mind back to Street Fighter 2. Ryu seems to be perfectly capable of switching between right and left hand :D. But it's a fair point that we also noticed!
Super polished for only a 7 day game! Well done!
Absolutely excellent game! I wonder and am in awe as to how you did that in just 7 days, well done! I really liked the satisying time slow when you shoot an enemy and the progression to different places as you go. I got to the acid part. Great Job!! ps. how many people worked on this one? also, this should be polished and uploaded to the app store, it's better than most of the games on there already
Thanks. Two people worked on the game. A friend did the art, I did the rest.
This a very polished and fun game. I really do not see the theme used in the game, but only you use it in the story. Overall a fine jam game.
Its really surprising to believe how much you have done in just 7 days! the game looks so polished and it is so beautiful! it is really fun and i really enjoyed the shoot to move concept! Great job!
Please consider checking our game out and stating your views on it :)
Great game! It is really polished for a 7 week project, congratulations! I liked the animations and audio, but my favourite was the "shooting does everything" mechanic (menus, movement, killing, etc). My only 2 critiques are that the game is a bit too hard in the beggining, which gets a little frustrating on the context of a game jam and that it doesn't seem to fit the theme much.
Also, you seem to be giving some sincere criticism on people's games. I would be grateful if you could do that with mine, too!
Really polished game! I like the juicy particles and the no black outline sprite art. The game feels so energetic and lively, I think mobile players would like it. It's hard to think of suggestions, but perhaps add funny facial animations to the main character that trigger at different events/skills. Super cool game! Please check out my entry if you have time, good day!
Facial animations. Completely agree. Thanks for the feedback!
This a was very fun and interesting idea to play. Everything played smoothly and solid game as a whole. Kudos!
Very fun game! Loved the art, the audio, everything!
As other people have said, i also cant catch the theme but regardless, great job!
Amazing game with a superb look and feel to it, great handling and hands down the best, most inventive UI i've seen in the jam so far!
The explosions everywhere are excellent, I need to learn how to do that =_=
I do agree with some comments I read that the theme implementation is a bit lacking but it's such a cool game in its own rigt that I stopped caring really fast. I could see this being a hit on mobile for sure!
Thank you. Was there anything you thought wasn't particularly well executed or otherwise bothersome? Thanks!
The game-play is really fun, and sort of original, but also sort of shallow. audio works pretty well for the title, even if it is a bit overpowered at times by the constant sound of gunfire. Objectively, I really don't like the art style that much, but I understand the style used, and it is well within being considered "good" for that art style. I feel like it sort of misses the mark on the theme. Overall though probably one of the more fun games I've played in the jam thus far.
Hey there. Thanks for the feedback. Would you mind elaborating on what you mean by "shallow"? What would you do to add more depth to it? Also, the same question applies tot he art style comment. How would you change it, if you were to make it yourself? Thanks!
The coins for example don't really play in much to your final score, and if I recall the game doesn't remember them like it remembers the depth you traveled, which is used as your high-score, I would use them to, for example, purchase a gun to start the level with during the next play-through or somehow add to your final score. Weapon drops are governed by RNG so it wouldn't do much to hurt balancing. as far as the art goes, personally I prefer less solid colors and large shapes, it feels sort of south-park like, that's just my personal opinion. I think it works just fine for this game. I do enjoy your color pallet though, and overall I think it's a great game!
Thanks for taking the time to answer. This is useful. Taking notes. :D
Would be fun on mobile. I don't see how it relates to the theme though.
edit: I've been reading some of your comments and I'd love it if you'd roast my game! :)
Twitch live roasting coming right up. The game relates to the theme by being about Hank the flat earther, demonstrating that the Earth is in fact not round, by digging, and never finding the bottom. Pretty paper thin, but that's because we're subtle... (That's a lie).
Hey, great game! Had a great time playing it, trying to beat my highscore.
Not sure what is the relation to the theme, but the graphics were very pleasuring and the game was fun to play. In my opinion though, you should add a cooldown mechanic to the gun, it felt pretty cheesy beeing able to just rapidfire my way out of bad situations.
The coins also had no meaning, I guess you planed some sort of shop but didn't get the time to do it? Upgrates would be pretty fun as well, always giving a feeling of progression.
Pretty good overall, one of the bests i've seen so far. Congrats :)
Hey Gabriel. Thanks for playing.
The game is about a flat earther proving that the Earth is not round, by digging down. That's the lie. Pretty stretched really, but we were more concerned with making an enjoyable game than following the theme too closely. Your point is well made though, it's not very clear. :)
As for the coins, yes, we have upgrades and cosmetics planned. Obviously couldn't do it for the jam. I was much more concerned with nailing the gameplay down.
The gun cooldown idea was in the works. I wanted a reload time. Didn't really have time to explore it, but it worries me that the player will have a terrible feeling if they fall to their death as they are trying to save themselves at the bottom, near the drill. I think there are other possible solutions, like finding a way to flush players from being stationary, either on top, or at the edges. That should help.
Thanks for the thoughtful feedback!
Wow! The game is really well done, congratulations!
You could adapt it for mobile and release at App/Play Store!
Could be me, but I just don't get it how the game was related to the Theme of the jam.
If possible, I would appreciate your feedback for my game:

The game is about a flat earther proving the Earth is not round. :) See the lie yet?
Sure, would be happy to review your game. In fact, I'll do it on stream!
