Thanks. I definitely have more ideas on how to improve the typing genre. Stay tuned!

Give this older game I made a try: https://iamernesto.itch.io/below-the-surface

It's older tech and has some bugs, but still think it's fun

Good job with the typing maze game!

About mazes: you can solve all mazes by always going on and turning in the same direction when a choice has to be made. I solved the maze first by turning always to the left and the second time by turning always to the right. No surprise there. Words and scarecrows are disconnected from the main quest, which is leaving the maze. I wished there was some more interconnection and more levels, but I understand the challenge of providing content and replayability in the context of a game jam. By not tying the number of scarecrows to winning the game you allow both completionists and not to enjoy the game in their own way and perhaps to replay using different styles.

thanks for playing and thanks for your comments.

The cozyness definitely got in the way of the design. Losing is not cozy :P

I appreciate your input and for sure will use your feedback in the future for not cozy games

Loved the concept! it's fun to play, although in my browser a little laggy, but that's fine. Good job!

Thank you

Agree that more of the words should have been autumn themed, but it was a well-polished typing game. Thank you for sharing!

I really enjoyed playing it and even if it was easy to get out I played it again to try to find the scarecrows so it has a nice replayability. Good job!
I found interesting the suggestion someone gave about using autumn related words, it would be nice

Super cozy music! Love a good typing game and the maze element was a fun twist. I went left everytime! lol Keep up the good work!

Probably the most relaxing maze I've ever done -- everything was so smooth. At first I thought the scarecrows were to be avoided, but escaping completely changed my perspective (although I do wish I timed me secretly and told me after). Also I'm kind embarrassed how long it took me to figure out the menu controls, and how intuitive and clever it was after!

Developer

thanks for playing

I do track a lot of stuff in the background, but to make it "cozier" opted to not show it. Maybe I will change that in a future update

WPM and time could definitely be a point of anxiety, probably the right call to omit it for the jam. Can't wait to see more!

Honestly, I spent a couple minutes in menu until I figured out what to do, so yeah, really clever menu transitions, I like it! Fun idea, really unique and original, you did great! Keep up the good work!

Developer(+1)

I wondered about that, as  it is not a conventional way of interacting with a game.  Glad you were able to figure it out

This was a fun game that you never see in a regular jam that often! I really enjoyed it! I would add a few things like make the words all autumn themed, maybe a penalty for typos. Good fun!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing. The game actually knows if you make mistakes and how accurate you are in your typing, I just don't show it. Wanted to make the game so that there are no repercussions because of the `cozy` theme.

If you want to play more typing games, check an old one I made: https://iamernesto.itch.io/below-the-surface

The autumn themed words is a great suggestion, not sure why I didn't think about that

I just played your other game. That's dope! You have got some serious typing game chops! I would definitely theme the words to the world that you create for sure. The dungeon one had some more relevant words like dragon and stuff in it, I also liked that you could pickup little health potions along the way. Interesting that you did actually track the typos lol, I would have liked to have seen the stats.

Developer

maybe an update for after the voting period. Shouldn't be too hard to add. Thanks for your feedback

I love this game's idea! Its a very cool and relaxing game, the only suggestion I really have is to add in the ablility to turn on a "difficulty" to where it would add a timer or something to make the game have a little more stakes, as it didn't seem like there was any reason not to just do it super slow and look around, as I think it would be a really fun game idea to add in a timer for each word, or a timer to get out of the maze. Fun idea overall, and love the menu's and the vibe of the game!

Developer

I wanted to make a stress-free typing experience, but some interesting mechanics. Mostly because of the cozy theme.
Give this one a try, a bit more challenging: https://iamernesto.itch.io/below-the-surface
Thanks for playing

Man I havent played a typing game in a while! I like how literally everything is controlled through typing a word, heck, even the menu is navigated through typing lol. I gave this game a second run to get all the scarecrows. I appreciate that I dont have to retype a word if I misspell it. Overall, I found myself enjoying this game on both runs, amazing job!

Developer

I've been making typing games for a while now, not a popular genre, but I still like them :)

thanks for playing

Cute game and really interesting idea! Could be really good for teaching how to type, actually. It was a bit too short, but that’s cause I didn’t try to find all scarecrows.

Developer(+1)

thanks for playing

Definitely the short level doesn't show all the work required to make it work :)

Thought about making it longer or more levels, but wasn't sure how fun this would be for players.
