I loved the game, very original and fun. I found it a bit hard to control, but it seemed like that was what you were going for. Stuff breaking all the time reminds me of my home when I have to fix stuff (like broken door hinges etc. :D)
I would only add a small hop when the spaceman is on their spaceship. It felt weird to me that I could use jetpack in zero-G but not jump.
Great work overall!
“like broken door hinges etc. :D”
hah! that hit too close to home for me, my door knob fell out the other day, almost got stuck in my room
the gap has been a hot topic of debate and we got a couple of good suggestions of how to make it better from the jam feedback. it was a mix of time and us testing it being desensitized to it after a while (you really get used to it and it stops being a problem). would definitely think of a better way if we could do it again
thanks for the feedback!
Cool game, visuals and graphics are so good. But it hurts so much when something breaks immediately after fixing it haha
very good game the loop is fun and addictive, the only feedback i have is to make the controls more snappy and make it little bit easy to get onboard the ship, i got hit by the floor so many times. good job submitting this ദ്ദി(• ˕ •マ.ᐟ
Thanks! Yeah, by the time we thought about maybe altering the controls, it was way too late to be safe in a jam.
I finally beat 2.5! Weirdly addicting flying around in space :) and I see everyone talking about the hole, I think it just adds an extra layer of challenge and gives skilled players more of an edge, which I think is good!
I think what I would love to see is parts deteriorating over time so you can see in advance which part is about to break. But I understand that's not how your RNG system works. Cool stuff!
Edit- beat 2.0, couldn't beat 1.5
Nice score! And, yeah, if we could have just thought of any one of these great ideas, we would totally have changed how the decay works.
I really like this game. I reached till 2.5 but then I struggled around for 10 mins and knew I won't be beating this after all and gave up. Idk how people reached 1.5. Most of the time the machine I fixed got broken right away. The astronaut is a bad mechanic and can't even jump lol.
Well executed game. You could have added some code to make the machine wait for a few seconds before it got broken again. But, if it was intentional for the difficulty, then I don't mind. Great mechanics and use of theme.
honestly… we also have no idea how they managed that, we couldn’t get past 2.5 ourselves either!
the stuff breaking right as you fix it was just an accident of how the breaking mechanics work, if we could go back we’d made each device have a more predictable breaking frequency
thanks a lot for the feedback
Very good game.
It's repetitive but everything (except that hole in the ship that we can't jump) is well made.
The art is suuuper cool, great idea for theme integration as well! Had some trouble getting back into the ship if I wasn't blasting the jetpack but it was negligible after a while. Well done!
thank you! glad you had a good time with it 👨🚀
Glad you liked the concept and art!
Really cool game that feels very vibe-y. The art is beautiful and the tether + jet pack is a very fun movement mechanic.
One minor gripe I had was having to leave the spaceship just to cross to the other side. It would be cool to fix this by adding a semi-solid platform that you have to "crouch on" (press down) to go through.
hey this might be the best suggestion about how to solve the ship “hole” problem we got so far, thank you so much for the feedback, glad you enjoyed it 👨🚀
That’s such an elegant solution… how did we not think of that!?
What do I get?
No seriously, this game is super fun, the music is top, and the change when your orbit gets too low creates so much tension.
woa….. this is out of this world, I legit don’t even know how this is possible
you get an endless level of respect (and gratitude for having spent time to get this good at our little game)
I reaaaaally wish we had the leaderboard setup for this… in lieu of that you’re added to the page
let us know if you rather be mentioned by name/user there and link to your game
I’m in awe… you honestly should get something for this crazy score
Nice Game
It took me waaay to long to figure this game out. I thought I was crazy reading all those comments here. But now I get it, just repairing all red objects (even outside the ship, I thought only inside). Now it has become somewhat easy although nice challenge to go further on the decay level!
hah! thank you so much for sticking to it despite not getting it at first 👨🚀
Glad you stuck it out and figured it out!
aweesome game man! really cohesive and well done for such little time.
The art and audio are wonderful. It's a little repetitive, but I like the encouragement to beat the level high score. Very smart from a marketing / community perspective. Your interpretation of the theme is very creative.
you’re definitely seeing a bit behind the curtains there… yeah some of it is a bit of a shortcut/trickery to make the most of very little content (which is what we could do given the time)
thank you so much for the feedback 👨🚀
It really is a good incentive - even for me!
Great game! It seems to me that the more parts that are repaired, the faster the rest will break? At first I thought it was the timer.
It picks a random part to break every few seconds, so I suppose if more are decayed it has a higher chance to pick an already-decayed part.
And the random part in 99% of cases is the one that I repair, but I've already flown further, lol
this is a repeated point of feedback…
and you’re super right in pointing it out.
the way it works is:
there is a global timer that breaks something every X amount of seconds… and it only picks from things not broken… so if you fix something right before the timer is about to off, there is a good chance it will insta break again
we’ve heard at least 2 or 3 suggestions of how to make this better and they are all good, wish we had thought of one of them during the jam
So it didn’t seem to me how insidious the decay was! I understand that due to limitations you implemented it as is. The mechanic works well up to level 1.5. But I spent 15 minutes trying to reach level 1.0 and constantly had the feeling that there was not only randomness, but also some kind of insidious trap. Still missing a jump in the ship or a 1 tile wider passage.
feel honestly very thankful that you’d put the time to go that low on decay level, means a lot to us really
but yeah, it’s luck of the draw
you’re also correct in the second point, there is a “rubber band” mechanic: things break faster the closer you are from winning, and break slower the closer you are from losing
I noticed this too, but it didn't annoy me.
Art is the standpoint for me. Mechanics are simple but enjoyable. I just hoped that each level had a different spaceship but is expected from a 48 hours jam.
We wish we could have added more ships!
This game is great! The concept is really cool the different difficulty levels keep it interesting. And the art and sound are amazing. I managed to get to level 3.0!
3.0 is tough! Nice work.
That is super cool bro!!
Really fun and engaging gameplay! Loved how the theme was used in this
thank you, glad you enjoyed it 👨🚀
we tried to come up with some different interpretation
Thanks! We thought orbital decay was a nice outside-of-the-box interpretation of the theme :D
