Did your team create most/all of the graphics yourselves?
All graphics were created this past week save for the fonts, of course

Did your team create most of/all the audio yourselves?
Purchased of Humble Bundle / Downloaded on Freesound

How did you incorporate the theme "INSIDE OUT"?
You have to stay INSIDE a circle and keep animals OUT of it. You could also say that the animals are OUT to get the cook who cooked their INSIDES :D

That was fun! Loved the main mechanics, the only thing to note for me is that the sound is way too low, could barely hear it even at 40% volume, overall really fun!

Developer(+1)

Haha, I feared the sound would be too high so I was a bit heavy-handed about lowering the decibels in the editor. Thanks !

My feedback for Cook Out!:

What the game does well:

The gameplay is fun and has charm. The soundtrack combined with the art adds some humor.

You did a great job letting the player know when a threatening animal is IN and when they're out. You also did a good job of letting the player know when an attack is coming.

The controls felt responsive and balanced. Initially I disagreed with making the character always follow your pointer, but after a second play I found it to be the best way to handle the movement.

What the game doesn't do well:

The opening dialogue was a bit difficult to read due to the center-text alignment. Would recommend changing that to left alignment.

I mentioned you did a good job with attack indications, but there's one exception: the frog. It took me a while to figure out it attacks when I enter its range, but there's no warning or indicator that it's preparing to attack.

Areas of Opportunity:

There was no main menu that I saw. Not sure if there was any. Would be a good place to store the sound settings you have tucked in the corner, and a leaderboard like you expressed interest in.

I hope this feedback helps!

Feels like a Mario party minigame, I love it.

I got 121s but couldn't get a higher score sadly.

Developer(+1)

121s is already pretty impressive actually :') congrats and thanks !

Cool game! I really liked the artstyle and the intro!
Good job! Had a lot of fun with it.

Submitted(+1)

Haha cool game, you have a really nice art style too. I liked the little story you added at the start

Submitted(+1)

The art style was so cool, and the intro dialogue was awesome, lol. It's a nice little minigame with neat enemies and an interesting backstory. Honestly, not many complaints, well done! (I got to 100 seconds, I'm a gamer)

Developer(+1)

100s ! GGs, most high scores range from 45 to 75 with the very best ones between 90 and 120

nice idea,

The humour is simply top TIER. Wait...if the enemies are the vengeful animals he has cooked in his career... it means he cooked elephants..? What a dirty cook!

Jokes asides, I really liked the global ambiance thanks to the narrative,  the graphics & the audio, it's pretty coherent.

The gameplay is very fun, and it's the most important thing in my own personal opinion. You got me there!

Really good job on that, congrats!

Good Game!

very fun! clean art and simple gameplay! I sometimes lost my cursor in all the chaos and clicked outside the window, so maybe a bright cursor or something could be cool. Very good job, probably the highest quality game i've played yet!

Developer

Thanks a lot !

loved the character designs

The game is pretty fun, I just wish that there some type of goal to achieve. Right now when you lose you just lose, if there were a leaderboard or something simillar it would add a lot to the game.

Developer (1 edit) (+2)

True, I'm very envious of your leaderboard 😞

Submitted(+1)

A really fun game, the core idea is simple but very well implemented, good job!

Submitted(+1)

Woo! that was a lot of fun! Great Idea to push each other off the plate lol, was hilarious when it got filled with so many animals lol

I had a good laugh and it was fun! thank you!

Nice take a survival game, graphics are fun and the story is imaginative. Awesome take on the theme

Submitted(+1)

This game is super funny and cartoony, the controls do feel a bit unresponsive but it's still pretty fun.

This game is FUN, fun and most of all, FFUUNN This is probably the only game on here that didn’t have original (created by a contributor/developer) music and doesn’t get anything bad from me about it The graphics are charming and the story is really fun the music adds to that

overall: 9/10
