After playing through all the games again to do a proper voting, I realized one tiny flaw in your game.
When running on a classic Game Boy (DMG) you will have some glitches in the textboxes.
*Also thanks a lot for putting me in the credits, but my name is misspelled! :D
Ahhh sorry! I'll update the credits to spell your name correctly (I did in aseprite before submitting but forgot to update the image in GB Studio!) after voting ends, along with a few other things I need to fix.
Would it be possible for you to share a screenshot of the textbox issues for DMG? I only have a Game Boy Color.
Sure.
It seems to happen, almost everytime, when there are more then 3 lines of text at once.
If you are using Windows you can easily recreate that with BGB Game Boy emulator.
Using Game Boy as system settings.
So cute! I think Primrose has a more balanced college life than I did! I like that the game doesn't judge you even if you don't study at all - good things still happen. Different use of time, different results!
Thank you!
Wow, I am impressed you could make such high quality art in a short time! Music is nice too, really adds to the vibe.
Thank you!
this kind of game is totally my thing! It's well done (just saw a visual bug when you pass the first character). Otherwise the story is effective, and the situations are plausible and maybe a bit real :) . I managed to get a B, after reading manga, and listening to music, so I must not be too bad :D . Good luck for the Jam, but very nice realization !
Thank you so much!
Lovely artwork! Always a very pleasant experience with your work. Music is absolutely amazing too! Well done to robotmeadow for their contribution. I decided to read some manga in the end. Couldn't resist.
Thank you so much! Robotmeadow did such an awesome job and was great to work with!
Really polished art style for this one! It was cool that the non-studying stuff had separate rewards. I got a B and also got to go to a party.
Thank you so much!
this was fantastic!! I loved the monochrome color choices with the art, it made it all very cohesive and stylized! My favorite part was the mini game, I could keep feeding that fish indefinitely if there was no timer. Do you think you will continue to work on the game or on different projects in the future? Also amazing music!!! Robotmeadows is an incredible musician!
Thank you so much!
I will definitely be working on other projects in the future! I'm actually going back to my main game project now that the jam is over. I'm interested in either participating in or co-hosting a Game Boy game jam some time in the future though.
I will do some updates to Midterm Moments after the jam voting is over, there were a few bugs mentioned I need to fix.
Beautiful little game, I like the artwork. Nice story. Game fits well within the theme. I'm happy with my outcome: a date, an internship, a party AND a passing grade. :)
thank you so much! Yay! Haha
Really neat, I enjoyed playing through it!
The art is very nice and I enjoyed the use of color too.
After playing through, I loaded it up again and saw that there was a coffee shop to the right (I totally missed this the first time). After that I went through and explored all of the options.
In the case of missing the coffee shop, I was wondering how it could be communicated if a wall is truly a dead end or an entrance to the next scene. I noticed the nice rounded edges on the border of the rooms, maybe the walls that lead to other rooms are a straight corner and the dead ends are rounded off?
Also, I didn't realize the first time playing through that I could exit the main part of the library and return to where I started. The second time I realized that I needed to walk down to exit, but the first time I saw the space for the door there, I assumed it was a shadow of the door on the other wall that leads to your friend that you can study with. Maybe an offset of these too doors would help that?
Lastly, I thought it would be cool to check the time mid game, whether it's always accessible via a pause menu or you need to unlock it (perhaps by spending an hour shopping?).
Overall, really neat game! I love seeing games with a lot of personality and character to them :)
thank you for playing!
You can check the time with the clock outside the main hall doors.
I think after the jam voting is done I’m going to update the game with more dialogue to communicate that you can check the clock and that there is a cafe to the furthest right.
That's what I figured but I guess it was bugged for me:
One my second playthrough I spent my first hour in the coffee shop talking about the concert and when I exited, it looked like it said 5pm. However, after going on the computer and reading manga, it was still at 5pm I think?
Oh okay, I’ll take a look and see if there is an issue. Thanks!
If it helps, I was able to replicate it with the following sequence:
> Listen to music with Elmwood
> Play Feeding Frenzy
> Read manga with Cypress
I checked the clock between all of these events and it seemed to remain unchanged.
Also: I figured that "Samurai Dog Boy" was made up for the bit, and then after playing I literally saw a trailer at the theaters for a samurai dog movie. I'm assuming that this is coincidence and that the manga bit wasn't referencing this, but I thought it was pretty funny.
It’s a coincidence. It’s actually a reference to Inuyasha, one of my favorite animes.
Ah gotcha, I see that's fitting with the time period. I never read Inuyasha personally but I'm a big fan of Takahashi's Maison Ikkuou. One of my favorites for sure!
I loved this game and the art style is beautiful. I had to replay a different times to get different endings. Congrats!
thank you so much!
Manga with Cypress? Yes! I got a C and didn't regret any of my choices. I am so glad there was an entry like this in the line up.
Very thematic and great art and sound!
I wish I spent less time studying in college, and more time socializing :/
thank you so much!
This game is so beautiful! I have to play this again.
thank you, Tronimal!
I was very surprised by this game!
The drawings of excellent quality and the music works wonderfully.
I salute the initiative to have added the mini game Food Frenzy to change the gameplay.
Moreover, the theme is respected in a very original way, and the moral is very beautiful.
Congratulations!
thank you so much!
