I think the idea is really good, and the mechanic of being able to take over a guard is great. I wish the player went a little faster, although the slow speed makes you have to plan your actions carefully, otherwise you can't run away and are most likely dead. Maybe a sprint/dash ability with cooldown would help the pacing while also still forcing the player to think about their actions wisely? It's a little difficult but I think if you nerf the enemies' shooting speed or give the bug some health, it would be a solid game. Well done, especially through just vanilla JS!

Thank you so much for playing and for your thoughtful comment about the game!
The bug actually does have a dash with a cooldown! It’s just clicking when you’re the bug :) If you get a chance to play again with that ability, I’d love to know what you think!
I can’t help but ask, if you end up beating it I’d love to see a screenshot :D
Thanks again!
Difficult and fun! Kinda wish you moved a little faster, but the current speed makes you consider your actions more. Overall a great little system you got going. I really liked the little crawlspace that you could go into. Also all in javascript too!
I really liked the infestation system, reminded me of Mario Odyssey.
It was a bit difficult to survive against the enemies because of the one-hit death, but I managed to nearly beat the game.
This was really fun and with a few balance changes, could make for a very fun roguelike.
I like the idea and the squelching sound when the player moves, although I did find this quite hard. The enemies are just too good at shooting :(
This is a fun and great concept! I liked the idea of finding paths for safe entry into humans itself is a puzzle. Nicely executed as well.
Thank you so much for playing!
I’m so glad you got the puzzle aspect after trying the game. That was one of our main intentions with this experience, but due to the time constraints we weren’t able to spend the time we wanted crafting a level/rooms that really focused on that kind of gameplay like we wanted.
Neat little entry! I agree with the general sentiment from most of the comments that it skews a bit too difficult, but it's a solid concept.
Great Game! Love the visuals. Seems a little hard but overall great experience.
Thanks so much! Yes it’s hard, but it feels right to me, which is hard to ignore :D
We literally through the level together in an hour on the last day, so I think a lot would be improved with some thoughtful level design.
Like leading the player into an enemy in a safe easy way, showcasing the enemy AI behavior in a meaningful way, e.g. they look at anything that makes noise, gunshots, parasite jump/lunge, etc. and you can use all this stuff to create openings to winning the game.
Anyway thank you so much for playing and for your kind words :D
Looks like we had similar ideas for this year's jam! Your game has a few more types of enemies though :D Well done!
Niceee work! Really coool fit into the theme of the jam! I loved that you could take over the tanks. At first I thought it was purely a stealth mission so that was a fun addition! Sounds, Art, they are all great! Bravo!
The game actually has achievements around doing things all stealth if you’re interested ;) (But it is very difficult D:)
We really put our all into this project, so we appreciate so much that you played it and your kind words <3
In truth I usually just program, but I love doing art, but never have the time. So I’m greatly appreciative of the art compliment :)
A very cool interpretation of the theme ! Very responsive as well. Nice job :)
Wow you folks built this game really fast (submitted 29 days before deadline), and it's fairly polished. Nice work! It is very challenging - maybe a little too challenging from the start. Maybe ramp up difficulty a little more slowly, so that it's easier to get drawn into the game.
Lol I got confused about the submission thing - I submitted the page the day I created it :D
Thank you for playing this! And thank you for the feedback! I think that spending some time with the level design would do a lot for this game, however time was limited and we only spent about an hour actually throwing together all the elements we made into the level you play here :D
I totally agree, and greatly appreciate your feedback!
There were some bugs that were making the gameplay EXTRA hard - basically when you’d infest an enemy your infestation damage would double each time D:
This is now fixed, and I’d love if you gave this another try and let me know what you think :)
In any case thank you for your time commenting and playing our game <3
Fairly interesting mechanic idea, I like it!
But, it would be a nice thing to have a timer for the ability, and maybe even a range for it.
But overall, that's a great game!
Yeah it’s still pretty difficult 😬
I have no clue what the rules are about this thing, I’m just treating the game as finished, but fixing bugs and adding things that leave the initial level and gameplay in tact, e.g. the base movement speed of the parasite, and the little cooldown bar you recommended 😎
Thanks for your feedback and playing again!
I really like the core gameplay the mechanics of who you infected and the abilities/stats you would get from them made for super fun strategy and gameplay. However it felt super hard and I don't know if that is just because I suck at video games that require skill, but it did get a little annoying after dying so many times on how slow I moved. Overall great game though!
