This was super fun. Very intuitive. Great gameplay, love the little fox. Super cute. The comments along the way are very funny. The save computers along the way were very handy. GitHub repo looks good too - maybe add an image ;)
Thanks for playing the game and for providing feedback! Fear not, I plan on prettifying the repo in a few days!
what a blast! one of the most polished games i've played in this jam. loved the art and funny voice acting! i'm personally a sucker for a good grapple game so this was great. i only have a couple critiques: i think the grapple should be longer and / or there should be a little indicator of what the grapple can hit. often times i found myself missing a hook because i though i could reach but but the grapple wasn't quite long enough. i think either making it longer or giving a little indication of what is in range will go a long way to let players understand what their limits are. other than that i had a lot of fun! the little quips were always a joy to little to and the respawn was quick, so i never felt taken out of the game.
Thank you for trying out the game and for the feedback! I agree with your feedback. Although you can double the length of the grapple in the assist settings when you pause the game, I also thought that there should be an indicator of how long the grapple can travel from the player so that its not ambiguous how far it can reach. My plan was to have a toggleable and subtle ring-like indicator around the player indicating the grapple max distance. But alas, I ran out of time to implement it. Maybe for a future update!
Thanks for playing our game! Cheers!
Awesome game! It was really fun to get the hang of the grapple hook, with a little practice I was able to complete the game. The level was well thought out and it was a nice feature to have the save computers frequently placed throughout in order to prevent the frustration of having to replay sections of the game too much. The mechanics and physics felt nice and smooth as well. Great work!
Nice game, I had some difficulties to play it because the grap isn't working if you don't aim the right thing, I was hoping to grap everywhere and touch the hit point with the grap and not with the cursor. The voice acting is disturbing too. Otherwise, I like the gameplay, animation, and the graphics. Good game!
I like maze and adventure games, and this game is nice designed. I tried several times to all levels, but I am not very good at action games. The mechanic is awesome, and I like 8-bit style all the time.
Nice jobs!
This game is awesome and hands down the best tutorial built into a game I have seen this jam (and you are gam #71 I'm rating ;P) The controls were very fluid and intuitive and the puzzles were well designed.
Kudos for having voice acting in a jam game, and not only that but the voice over was actually funny (Saw that coming!).
Overall great game and I don;t even know what I would change to improve it !!
Thank you so much for the kind words! Glad you liked it!
Well done with the game! Amazing and polished entry and had a lot of fun playing it. :) The voice acting was grand!
Awesome job, definitely my top pick of all that I have tested so far.
I enjoyed the audio bit, where the switches are introduced I think "...caught it in play testing...", I laughed at that :)
Great game and very polished well done
Very good, the game feels very polished!
I'm a sucker for anything with a grappling hook. Everything else is just icing on the cake. But like, you guys went and made an adorable and surprisingly challenging game out of it. I love the visuals, and the narration/ commentary is fun and actually adds quite a bit to the experience. One of my favorites so far!
I love this game. The grappling mechanic is really satisfying and adds a lot of action to the game. I also really like the graphic style, amazing job :)
I actually took every minute to enjoy that gem. This is one of the best game I've played in this Jam so far and you should be very proud of it. I have to admit that is was a little bit difficult for me in one or two parts, especially when you have to grab things when you're mid-air and then, in the same jump, go grab the next hook.
I don't want to express here the many strengths this game has, but my rating surely will. I've read that you had to cut out some features? I opened a topic for that in the Community section :) If you want, tell your experience in "The Features Cemetery ☠️"
Thank you for the praise and the feedback! The difficult does ramp up a little too harshly when you have to do extra maneuvers mid air. We definitely should have tweaked that.
I went ahead to your topic and shared how we had to Scale Down our game. :)
Thanks for playing the game. Cheers!
This game is super...duper. Didn't finish it cuz I'm playing with a track pad and that made it pretty difficult, but I love a good platformer and this is a good platformer.
Thank you for playing the game! There’s always the assist settings to somewhat balance out the lack of a mouse a little bit, should you want to revisit the game. Cheers!
Dripping with polish that is totally unnecessary for a game jam but really makes it shine. This was excellent. Difficult, but in the way that makes you feel rewarded when things are going smoothly. The voice acting and context specific death notes were such a great added bonus. Really great work, loved it.
I really liked the design and thought it was generally a lot of fun. This was really clever, especially for your first game.
The only tricky part was clicking on things to grapple on to while in midair due to the camera movement. Maybe a more generous length or some kind of lock would help that. I do like the momentum based physics though.
I got stuck at the part where you had to grapple multiple times in the air.
EDIT: From reading the other comments, it seems the game DOES have audio. For whatever reason, it won't play in Safari. I'll try in a few other browsers.
Again, great job!
Thank you for the feedback! Although it’s not our first game; we have a few under our belt now.
I’m sorry the audio didn’t work for you. We put in a lot of work in the voice acting, sounds, and dynamic music, so we are pretty proud of that aspect of the game. We don’t have Macs ourselves so we can’t directly test it, but we have seen our playtesting friends play the game on Safari and seen the audio work for them. I am not sure what would cause the audio to fail on your browser. :(
I do admit the difficult ramps up too much when you are required to make a multiple grapple shots while in the air. We should have gone back and tweaked the level design to be more friendly in terms of difficulty. However, I am hoping that the assist settings in the pause menu would be enough for some players if they need it.
Thanks again for your feedback and for playing the game!
WHAT?? There's dynamic music TOO?? I'll add this to my collection and try again. I don't get whythe audio didn't work. What engine was it built in? I think I had issues with all the games from this engine.
Hm, I thought I read somewhere on the page that it was your first game. Oh well, I'll check the settings again.
Thanks for pointing this out.
The game was built with Godot. The telltale sign of a Godot game is that gray loading bar in the black background. So do you have audio problems with other Godot games? Maybe try switching browsers when playing these games? That might help.
Wow. I loved every minute of this. You deserve 5 stars for the voice acting alone. Very, actually funny, I legitimately had to laugh. Mechanics were slick as hell. Characterization was cool and to the point. Motivation snappy, controls were intuitive, loved the theming, the cute fox, the environment art, the music, I can't complain at all here. Your game is getting one hell of a rating from me. Your game was so damn good it made me want to be friends with you.
Wow that’s very nice of you to say! Thank you so much for playing the game and taking the time to write to us!
Perfectly polished, astounding visuals, perfectly executed in general, 5* without a doubt
Very professional, I would pay for this :D
I aspire to reach this level <3 A game to be proud of!
Thank you so much for playing our game!
Oh no - something went wrong:
Error: Couldn't load project data at path ".". Is the .pck file missing?
If you've renamed the executable, the associated .pck file should also be renamed to match the executable's name (without the extension).
Oh no! This is the first time we hear about this issue. Sorry about that. It works on all the computers we have available to us. If you can give us more details, like what your operating system is, what browser you’re using, and if it happens again if you refresh the page, we can look into it.
Thanks for trying to play the game in any case.
I use Firefox on a Mac.
