NICE GAME !!!

Submitted(+1)

I just worried about the physical collision between rod and fish at the beginning, but the fact is I have very good experience during the game! I love this relaxing game!

And the feedback of inventory marketing is awesome, very well designed mechanic.

Nice Job!

Very nice art and theme implementation. Calming music and a great atmosphere, I do wish there was something I could do with my oodles of cash. Perhaps a cat that you can feed your fish to or some bait that only certain fish will bite. Good work!

Relaxing fishing game! I really like the fish art as well as the backgrounds. The fishing mechanic was fun as well. I think this could be expanded into a fishing business game of some kind. Enjoyed it! Well done!

Hello,

Good work on your game. I think this was a great  interpretation of the game jam theme. I think that it is well made and easy to understand. This could be really fun on a tablet where you could tap the screen, ( I was clicking). I also enjoyed all the art, great cohesive style - Lots of potential to keep working on this. Also impressed that you used godot.

Thank you

Made $11000 in a few minutes! Why do people get real jobs, anyway?

This was a nice little game. Great job on the sound. The music combined with the gentle "plunking" and the ambient nature sounds were very peaceful and well-implemented.  I also like the fish-art, although I would've like to see them pop up or something when I caught them.

I like the art style and the music a lot. But catching some of the fish was really challenging, so I did not relax as much as other people apparently. :D

I liked the scaling, but I was missing some incentive to fish and sell the fish. There was nothing to spend the money on.

beautiful game, wonderful art!

I'm totally in love with the fish's graphics! The audio design is pretty good, and the sound effect when I catch at the right time during the fishing is satisfying.

I think the core mechanic is pretty cool, maybe a few different variables linked to the type of fish would make the experience much better (and currently the experience is nice!).

Overall, I think having a complete game loop could be better because I don't know what to do with money. Maybe after the submission rating? I hope so!

You did a nice job!

Really nice relaxing game. It's honestly kind of addictive and fun. The graphics are nice and the cconcept is great!

Overall, a very relaxing game.

I like the graphics, the only thing I would alter is the button and inventory background - it doesn't really match the aesthetics for me.

One thing I found a little frustrating is, that for the first 8 casts the fish always got away. Surely this is not intended, maybe a bias for actually catching towards the beginning of the game might be good, to keep players encouraged to play, as they had that initial accomplishment.

Thank you! The bite reaction timer is .5 seconds. I was worried it might be too fast, but myself and the couple of play testers I had were getting it every time, so I was also worried if I made it longer it would be too easy. So I appreciate that feedback and will take it into consideration!

Playing this game was very relaxing! I also loved the atmosphere and the graphics are beautiful! However, I missed the possibility of buying equipment with money, or perhaps being able to fish in other locations!

Anyway, great job!

I think all this is missing is to complete the game loop - doing something with the money/fish after catching. I saw from other replies that you ran out of time implementing all of the features - hopefully you can get them completed post-jam! Also really cute fish! Reel big fan of that Snook

Perfectly pleasant and relaxing (as advertised!). I had a great time with your game. It feels like it would perfectly fit into a visual novel style game as the slightly-deeper-than-expected fishing mini-game.

I had fun, and I’d play it again, nice work!

This is a very pleasant game - it has an impressive variety of fish and a great, consistent art style. Catching the fish was challenging, and it put a genuine smile on my face when I caught my first one. Well done!

I also have some constructive feedback:

I think the next big thing here is giving the game more 'juice' via effects, transitions, sounds, bouncy movement.

While the scale is a nice bit of interaction, it does beg the question - what is the point of NOT weighing and selling? My mind went into two directions: either this screen is meant to engage the player in the experience of weighing what your catch, and make them feel good about racking up money - and in this case, I think it needs more of that 'juice' to sell the experience. Or, it could be a moment where the player decides which fish to sell - in that case, I would expect the alternative choice fleshed out (e.g. keeping the fish = you can showcase it on a collection screen. If that makes sense! So I'd boil it down to either doubling down on the juiciness for what's already there to create the coziest experience possible, or to add more features to give meaning to the weighing and the selling.

Excellent work!

Thank you so much for the compliments and the suggestions for improvement!

I originally intended to have more features in the game, such as reasons to keep the fish in your inventory(like a special requests board), and things to buy or unlock with the money you earn, but I'm a pretty newbie dev and it took me quite awhile just to get the basics all working properly, and I just ran out of time. We are considering continuing to work on the game after the jam though, in which case I'll keep your specific suggestions in mind!

I do enjoy a cozy fishing game. :)

Was pleasantly surprised by the variety of fish in the game, and the art for each of them was well done. I personally felt like the timing of the "click" was in a good spot, as visually it seemed like it would be way harder than it ended up being. Good work on the overall vibe!

Something I feel could be improved is the payoff for catching a fish - with the great sprite art you have, I would have liked for it to show up on screen after a successful catch, perhaps accompanied with some appropriate effects/audio. That really composes the dopamine hit of most fishing games, and I think would help with the general gameplay feel. Congrats on the entry!

Developer

Thank you, and I definitely agree with your suggestions! I tried to make the fish name and sprite pop up upon a successful catch, but it ended up being harder to figure out than I thought it would be and I just couldn't get it working in time. But that's the first thing I plan to add if we decide to continue development of this game after the jam!

Good game! Congrats :D

Great job nailing the relaxing vibes, with the music and artwork especially. Though I think the game was too hard for me, I enjoyed playing the full package put together here

Submitted(+1)

I really love the artwork of the fish and the audio helps build a relaxing ambience. I did find the game to be a bit too difficult for me to really relax while playing it though. The time it gives you to click after seeing a bite seemed very short, and it was a bit hard to hit close to the ring for when the fish is fighting the line. That said, it's a great take on the theme and I still had fun with it. Great entry!

Really cute game. So relaxing and peaceful. The artstyle is gorgeous and the gameplay mechanic is kind of addictive :) Also kudos for using Godot <3. If after the voting period ends you make something to spend the money on, I'll play for hours!

Developer (1 edit)

Thank you so much! And same to you and your game/future games!
