Nice job on the game! Very ambitious.

3D game projects are always hard for me to judge, because I am less familiar with them. However, I think you made a solid game given the allotted time.

I enjoyed the core mechanic quite a bit. I could definitely see how you can make many different puzzles with it.

I did have some small performance issues, but it was probably my computer more than anything. I don't really have a powerful machine.

Overall, very impressive given the time constraints. Would like to see it further expanded upon.

Developer

Thanks for playing and I'm glad you liked it! We probably could have optimized it better for performance so that's on us too. If we had more time we would have looked into unloading more things to reduce performance but we didn't get around to it. I'm glad the core mechanic came across well despite that!

Hey there! Fun experience.

I think I completed it, I wasn't really sure. The music changed and there was a balcony I could run around on. The game might benefit from an ending screen or at least some text somewhere to let the player know. I also thought the checkpoint elevator was also a bit confusing. It seemed to me that it only goes up once? Thankfully the game saves the checkpoint, so I ended up going to the main menu and loading in again to bring the elevator back down to the bottom whenever I fell down.

The outdoor scaling was pretty tense! That was probably my favorite part. I really enjoyed the outdoor fans and resizable beams. I also thought resizing openings in the walls was a clever idea. Nice job!

Developer

Thanks for playing! If you got the change in music then you definitely beat it. We wanted to add some sort of victory pop-up but that was one of those things we had to cut on the final day. The elevator is definitely buggy, we probably spent about 12 hours or more just trying to get that to work properly. It should come back down if you interact with the button at the bottom but it was still not always behaving on that. Otherwise it just goes up, but it is at least intended to go back down to the ground floor. I'm glad the outdoor scaling was fun! We were worried it was going to be too difficult but we also wanted to have some challenging sections in there as well so it sounds like it worked.

Lots of little details that added a lot to the game. It wasn't hard enough that I stopped playing out of frustration but I just couldn't figure out what to do next. The graphics are pretty good! And I liked the character. The lighting was at once confusing and cool. But overall it was fun, and a pretty nice game.

Developer

Thanks for playing! Definitely could have done better directing people where to go, something we'll definitely have to keep in mind. We'll also have to work on the lighting so not so many places are dark like they are.

Difficult but I enjoyed it.

Unreal's lighting did shine through in some areas while in some I had to turn the graphics down just to see where I was going and what I needed to do.

The game stuttered a lot even on low. I don't know why as both my GPU & CPU were hovering around 50%. Maybe some null variables were being caught.

Jump was a bit floaty, more air control would have been nice.

I also wish there was an end screen because I spent 30 mins trying to figure out where I was suppose to go.

I advise against turning the graphics down to low as this might happen

Developer(+1)

Hm, I'm not sure what the frame issues were. We weren't reading any null variables on our end. That said, one of us was on fairly old hardware and the other was on brand new hardware so testing was a bit weird. The character issues with the low settings are wild, it's definitely something we noticed happening but too last minute to really dive into how to fix it. I hope you were able to enjoy it despite that!

I wanted to add a win screen or something to make victory more obvious but I can confirm of your screenshot that you made it haha. We wanted to let you play past the ending so you could continue messing around with stuff so that's why we didn't have it cut to a win screen, but we should have made a pop-up window or something like that.

We'll have to look into more air control too. The jumps did seem a bit wonky at times so you are on to something there. Thanks for playing and all the feedback!

You found some very pretty assets. It made for an impressive, high res visual -- I think it started lagging the computer after some time playing, though. The lighting got a little tricky, a few corners could have used some extra light sources since the shadow was so profound.  I see that I hit the same point as LeviathanLaw - I got to the one green button - it looked like the elevator shaft went higher and I didn't get a music change. I was missing something to get to the next stage.

Developer

Thanks for playing! I'm glad you liked the overall look of the game. A combination of cc0 assets and some homemade ones. The lighting is definitely a bit rough, we probably should have spent a little more time on that at the start. For the final room, there is a few bookshelves next to each other and that's related to making it to the top most floor. It's a bit of a puzzle with no introduction but we wanted to see how people handled it so we threw it in at the very end.

The scene seems a little empty, but the gamplay is really great!

Developer

Thanks for playing! I'm glad the gameplay came across well. Sorry for the empty area a bit, we originally planned to build a town around the tower that would also serve as a tutorial area but we didn't end up having enough time to add that.

Excellent submission! Very great visuals. I wasn't sure what to do after I hit the checkpoint at the top, was that the end of the game? Nice work

Developer

I'm glad you liked it! It depends on which part of the tower you reached. If you reached the top checkpoint there is still one more floor above that but if you got to the point where the music changes and its a room with all glass walls then that was the end of the game. We probably should have rigged up some sort of victory text for it haha. We weren't sure how many floors there would be initially so that ended up being a pretty slapped together last minute finish we put on top.

This is pretty good! First UE game I see in this jam, it's beautiful, congratulations!

Developer

Thanks! I'm glad the visuals came across well :D

This is a beautifully simple concept that actually has quite a bit more depth than I was expecting - was quite impressed with the different ways that you've found to explore the scaling mechanic. And the general gameplay had a relaxing vibe to it that I quite enjoyed.

For improvements, I think that some sort of visual indicator over elements in the scene to indicate that they were scalable would be helpful - this wasn't too much of an issue until the first hole to the outside of the building, which took me some time to realize that I could interact with. The audio/visual feedback of the "Object Blocked" might cause a bit of confusion, as I sometimes felt like I had to get an object blocked to proceed.

Other than that, solid entry with an enticing concept - interested to see what else you could do with it!

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! That's definitely something we could do better with the UI. Maybe we could add something like a color highlight around an object when you look at it or even a bit of text to pop up saying if it's scalable/can't be scaled. We kind of wanted to hide the hole in the wall as a scalable at first but this is probably an area where being more generous is better.

I was worried when we first had the idea that the core mechanic would be too shallow but a lot of the puzzles ended up really designing themselves it felt like. So I'm glad the depth came across to you as well and not just us while designing. Always hard to tell if it just seemed interesting to us or if it would be entertaining for others too.

I'm a newbie developer so I don't have much perspective, but this seems like a hugely impressive accomplishment for a game jam length of time! How much time was your team able to spend working on this? Overall great job with the game! Honestly the only complaint I have is sometimes with the shadows it's really very hard to see anything.

Developer

Thanks for playing! I'm glad you liked it and thanks for the feedback on the lighting. Definitely should have spent a bit more time lighting up the level.

For the time, honestly it is bit hard to say for sure. Usually the two of us would spend about 5 hours in a call when we were working on it at the same time, so probably around 65 hours for each of us or a total of 130 over the month. But there was a little more time added in when you look at the times we were doing updates separately. But my best guess would be a total of 130-150 hours. So probably about 4-5 hours a day. I probably did not sleep nearly as much as I should have haha

I played the game in Cinematic so this may not apply to everyone,
That was the best looking character art I have ever seen. Not even most AAA games have this quality. Hair also was moving. If there was a main character section I would give 10 stars.

As usual for Unreal games my PC was burning and I give it a rest after reaching the checkpoint but learned they are not working .

Game explains it very well and itchio page helps this a lot.

Developer

Thanks for playing and I'm glad you liked the character art! We actually turned it down a bit too as the higher res version of the character had some unusual bugs with the hair and not staying in the correct spot. Sorry we didn't get the checkpoint working fully, I think we figured it out now but missed it before the end of the jam.

Very nice! It was a lot of fun running around and shrinking random objects looking for secrets.

I wish I read how to activate an elevator beforehand because I fell down from a long section of outside pillars, too. 😢 Also, I didn't realize initially that scaling objecs takes power, but once I undestood that, I didn't face any issues with scaling.

Some kind of backstory about why you are climbing to the top floor of this building and why do you have this super ability would make the game more fun.

Great job!

Developer

I'm glad you enjoyed it! We were hoping to get a bit more backstory in but unfortunately ran out of time. Sorry we didn't include a tutorial about the elevator! One of those things that slipped our mind so that's why I added it to the page instead but we really should have gotten something in the game to explain it. Thanks for playing!

Super great game concept, shrinking and growing objects is fantastic fun and it really works quite well. The aesthetics is also nice and weird with lots of weirdly shaped object lying around. I made it to the outside pillar jump section then fell all the way down and gave up.  The reset button is crucial haha as I thought I'd run out of juice at one point. While the lighting is pretty I think it's working against you here it makes parts of the game unnecessarily hard to see and just makes the game feel a little over exposed and weirdly unrealistic in the lighting. The main character is well rigged and animated. The music is nice but I wouldn't mind a little more sound effects. Overall a really game with a great core gameplay loop. (I wish the checkpoint system worked though haha)  I could see this being refined into a really good real game, I had a lot of fun with it.

Developer

Thanks for playing and the feedback! I'm glad you liked the overall concept and sorry that pillar jump section got you. The checkpoint system is definitely still quite a bit buggy, it does usually work but we weren't able to get a tutorial in time for it and it doesn't always do what it's supposed to. But usually it should work if you go to the elevator on the first floor and press E while standing on the elevator. But really wish we had gotten a tutorial/Press E to use message in before the end of the jam.

Thanks for the feedback on the lighting too! We wanted to try out a lot of the newer lighting systems with Unreal so admittedly we probably went a bit overboard or could have done better balancing the light.
