bon le jeu est clairement pas rat...é ! (it mean the game wasn't bad, but with a pun with rat, and rater)
The changing graphics and soundtrack really helps to set the different tone between both time periods, great job!
That was really cool :)
maybe an indicator that the levels going to change soon would be nice
Very good game but quite the learning curve! I would welcome a bit of a tutorial or an introduction level, it took me a while to realize what's going on
Really good game with great pixel graphic and effects. I really like it
Thank you so much, we appriciate the comment!
This is a really good implementation of the theme. The art is great and sound fits. Great game Overall!!
I jumped out of my chair. Switching from day time to hell time is a cool idea, but I think it would be better without the scare and glitchy sounds, and maybe have a way of killing the rats? The go-to tactic for me was to wait until after hell broke loose before moving again. The graphics are cute
This game really scared me at first hahahaha
The first switch to the dark side of the world really got me. I like that idea a lot whatsoever! It builds a super interesting atmosphere.
The art was cute. What especially caught my eyes were the few animations. I really love the walk cycle of the hostile rats! Super well done ~
The music was sick too. I especially enjoyed the dark sides track!
I think the concept of trading cheese for time is cute, but it didn't really feel balanced well. In my second try I neglected every piece of cheese that was not on my way and I also only traded if I occasionally happened to cross a rat. And with that strategy, I already beat the game. So said mechanic didn't really feel like it was any relevant in the first place. Quick suggestion:
The controls felt a little unprecise, but I got used to them relatively quickly.
Overall, a strong submission. Keep up the good work! :muscle:
I did tune the difficulty last minute, because I saw people struggling with the game when they didn't understand all the mechanics of it. You used to have less time, but now you can run past all the rats and never trade and, provided you don't get hit, make it to the end in time.
If we had more time, we would have made it so cheese was only collectible in the future, and made other trades like powerups and such. Unfortunately, there is only so many iterations you can do when you have only 2 weeks and you game comes together in the last day of the jam.
I built the character physics from the ground up, and it was pretty experimental. It has a few features that are supposed the make the controls feel more tight, like coyote time, jump input buffering, jump hold to jump higher, and a non-quadratic jump arc. Can you elaborate on what you thought made the character unprecise? Was it the instant acceleration to full speed when walking left or right?
Thanks for the great feedback!
very original! The switching to dark theme surprized me in the best possible way. The sounds and mood got me smiling and laughing a bit. Very original vibe. The pun in the name adds to the comedy vibe of it. I love the identity and visuals when it becomes rockn roll.
I felt the name I came up with was corny as hell, but my team liked it so we went with it!
Oh, and the future music is supposed to be Metal. Does it really sound like Rock n Roll? O.o
Really cool idea for a game. rats/10
Thank you! (No rats were harmed during the process of this jam)
Such and awesome entry to the jam. It is probably one of the most novel and inspiring takes on the time theme I have seen yet! You have done an awesome job with this, well done!
I really loved the time economics aspect and the fact that not all deals were worth taking. It took me a couple of runs to understand this, but then it added a whole new dimension to the gameplay!
Similarly to what others have suggested, if you want to develop further on the project, giving the player an indication of when the timeshift is happening would be great, as it currently is pretty invasive. But this is a minor thing, and I think all in all you have done a super awesome job!
I hope you have had a great jam, I really enjoyed playing your game! <3
We planned to have a Radial timer telling when the next timeswitch was going to occur, but we ran out of time and UI was one of the things that needed more time in the oven. I definitely feel ya, I do think a visual indication of a recurring event is very important in this style of game. Thanks for the feedback!
Thank you soso much, it was really fun working together to make this jam and we're so happy you enjoyed it! Also thankyou for the feedback, we've heard from a few its a bit jump-scary haha, so we'll try fix that!
Really enjoyed this one, got super jump scared when it time shifted for the first time lol.
Thank u bbbrezel!! Hugs
The effect of the time shift is so scary it jumpscared me.
A bit of alert before time shift would be nice.
The player is too floaty to me I can barely make to the goal.
Sprite work and music shifts are pretty great too.
I see you get the inspiration from The Messenger. So next time platform shifting would be even great.
I have not played The Messenger, but we did consider the platform shifting in the final 12 hours. It was ultimately too late, but if this was a full game, it would definitely be an interesting mechanic. having different platforms in the past and the future with some telegraph (a bit like those 3d Mario levels with time-based toggling platforms) would make the gameplay a lot more interesting.
About the time shift, we did want to include a radial slider that would indicate in the UI when the next time switch happens, but unfortunately didn't have time to implement it. Sorry we scared ya!
For the jumping physics, I did build it from the ground up with a lot of tuning pegs, and I'm pretty happy about the feel of the jump. Sorry it didn't please ya, but I'll let you know there are a few mechanics to it, like jump input buffering, holding jump drag and coyote time, so maybe if you try again with that in mind, you'll grow to appreciate the physics a bit more :)
Very good game with lots of great ideas that all come together nicely!
Awe thanks dude
Really love the effect of the transition, great work.

This was one of the more creative interpretations of the theme! I loved the concept of flipping between times.
THANK UUU
The pixel art is stunning, the effects are great! Love it! Good job!
Our art department appreciate the vibes c:
I loved the art of the game, the page was adorable. The interface was a little disproportionate, being the only negative point of the game. I love how you guys incorporated the theme of time!
Yeah, that’s the kind of polish you gotta expect when 2 programmers pull an all-nighter scrambling to get the game done xD
Fun game!
