Cute game, interesting mechanic too

Submitted

nice game , minimal graphics but fun mechanic. sometimes i stuck in the walls. needs a little bit polish.

Developer

Thx! I agree it could use a decent bit of polish to help it stand out.

Nice game. The time cost for switching active blocks is challenging. Well done.

Developer

Thx!

I enjoyed playing this game. Nice work

Nice mechanics on switching the active blocks.
Very well done for a 25h game

Thank you! I could've used more of the available time to improve, but life happened.

I know the feeling which is why our game was made in 2 last days because life happened :D

Developer(+1)

XD That's practically what I did, except the last 3 to 5 days.

Ahh yes, the well known combination of pineapples and parkour :D I just love these random and wonderful merges of different seemingly unrelated concepts that happen around game jams! You have made a super cute game that is super fitting to the jam genre of making a HTML game. Back in the day this could easily be a classic platformer game on Miniclip or similar.

My favourite part was how fluent respawning worked. It is super important in a game where you die often, that the player is quickly back in the action, even after dying hundreds of times, and this you achieved really well.

A solid little game I think, well done!

Thank you! I was pondering the respawn but didn't want to create a whole animation for it. Think I'll keep it this way then.

I liked the mechanics in this game, it was fun to jump and switch boxes at the same time. I think the main character could move faster, have a faster acceleration time, and also be less slippery.

I wish there were more levels, because I enjoyed the game. The graphics are cute. I’d love some sound effects and music with the game.

Good job!

Nice work! The character has a very on-ice feel to it, so I’d tweak it a bit to increase friction, and also to reset the character’s velocity when they hit a wall. For the spike jumps it was hard to gain momentum because of the slipperyness, but definitely still doable haha.

I agree with others as well, I didn’t even know I was penalized for using the block switching. It’s an integral part of the levels, so I thought the difficulty was just in timing it so you switch at the right moment.

Overall though good job!

Thanks! I have said this before, but I didn't set the speed to be the same on accident, so for some it will be pretty precise, and for others it won't. I'm going to try fixing this after the jam, thanks for rating this though!

I like the concept of trying to limit the use of the red and blue blocks, but for most of the levels it seems like there's a set amount of presses you need anyway so it doesn't affect the gameplay, so some redesign in the levels to make this applicable would be an improvement in my opinion.

Also making the players movement speed faster can really help make them feel better, even if nothing else changes! some cyote time and jump buffer would have been great as well.

Yeah, I'm wondering what I could do to not number the amount of times you switch the blocks, I'll think about it, but thanks for the feedback!

I really like the mechanics, but I did found the character hard to control. Keep it up!

Developer

Thanks! The reason it feels hard to control is because I botched up the movement code so sometimes it works perfectly, sometimes it feels sloppy. For example you should be able to stop almost immediately, but for most, that's not what happens.

Great game!, The platforming is hard and The platform changing mechanic is good. Good job :)

Developer

Thanks

What a good game ! It reminds me a little of vvvvvv : good job.

Developer

Thanks! I just checked the game out, didn't know that game existed but I agree it does look simular.

Fun game! I like that if you failed once or twice in an attempt you'll likely bump into the time limit, probably a lot of playtests and configurations behind. Good job!

Developer

Thanks!

Kinda fun, the movement was a little sluggish and I occasionally got clipped into a wall.

Submitted(+2)

Nice! Movement felt a bit slow imo but otherwise pretty solid

Super cute game, absolutely love the little pineapple. Very difficult for someone who is bad at platformers like this :P Glitched out the game by going back into the first room from the second.

Developer (1 edit)

That's actually intentanel, although, I wasn't able to finish it so it's a bit buggy.

I love the game really. It is so minimalistic but cute and fun. But it is also not a standard platformer, it has a lit bit of timing mechanics to change colors. Great idea! The finish level is awesome 🙃

Submitted(+2)

Frustrating yet fun :)

Good game, but the movement is a bit delayed.

What computer did you use? What specs? Cause it works perfectly for me, but when I tried on my brother's old computer it wouldn't.
