One way for variation would be to have the level be finished before all block have been dug up and the different types of blocks having different probabilities for items. And maybe some sort of hazard item that might cut away your time or something. And a goal for each level so it gets to be somewhat of a gamble of "do I crack that rock to get another diamond or do I dig to piles of sand?"

Developer

THank you for the suggestions. I have ideas for some things to add to my game but I won't be able to implement them for a while since I'm out of state for a few months for a play I'm in. Thank you again for the feedback though and for playing my game.

Submitted(+1)

Nice game!
I really liked the art and the sfx and music.

btw if you can play the game that I made and give me some feedback I really appreciate it :)

Developer(+1)

I can try. The reason why I haven't been playing many is because I'm very busy irl at the moment. I had to get to a different state from home for a play I'm I'm (my first professional play) and I'm also watching my cousins' dogs while I'm here, so time on my computer is very limited but I can try my hardest to get yours and some others rated.

Thank you for the feedback the music and sounds I whipped up in under an hour and the art was done intermittently through a day or two. Most of the time went to programming, testing the things programmed and fixing bugs.

Submitted(+1)

No problems, I hope you'll like the new state!

Developer

it's not really new. I lived here before moving to Arizona. It's just that Covid pushed the play back a whole year so I'm back now for rehearsals and to perform.

Submitted(+1)

Good submission. I like the art and the audio sounds you used.

Developer

Thank you very much. I made it all myself. Thank you for playing and for the feedback.

Submitted(+1)

Nice clicker. It would be cool if you had the possibility to go on digging again and again and you could use the stuff you get in some way.

Developer(+1)

I'm probably gonna keep working on it but I don't know if I'll be able to for a while since I need to be out of state for a few months.

Submitted(+1)

Good work!  Fun to play.  It would better if you knew what were you getting, before the end.

Developer

I made a version with that. Version 1.2. I just didn't update the webgl because I didn't think that'd count as a hotfix.

Submitted(+1)

Promising start of a game! I dug for a few levels, but didn't find anything, I don't know if that was intentional. Could be nice if there was more to the digging concept. Something like having a shovel that breaks after a few uses, and you have to buy a new one with the gold/treasure you dig up? Or applying physics to each square and watching everything interact would be satisfying as well.

Developer

You were finding things, they just all get revealed at the end. I made a version that shows you what you've dug up as you dig, it's version 1.2. I didn't make a webgl for it though because it was made after the deadline and I didn't know if it would count as a hotfix.

Submitted(+2)

Great little submission, loved the artwork and the music. Agree with some other commenters that more could be added, hope you are able to expand on it down the road!

Developer

I'm planning on probably adding more but won't be able to add more to it for a few months because I'm gonna be away for a few months for my first professional play.

Submitted(+2)

I feel like although the concept is a good idea, the gameplay needs some work as currently you're just clicking and breaking tiles without much consequences on selecting whichever since speed is what matters. But in terms of the visual department, I think the assets were well done!

Developer

Thank you. I'm looking at other things to add but updates for the game might be on hold for a while because I have my first professional play coming up and I gotta be away from home for a few months. Thank you for playing and leaking feedback!

Well done on completing a functional game. I personally feel it needs more work, feedback for the player etc.. I was clicking alot! but didn't really feel like I was achieving anything.

Good job on the assets and getting something out there!

Developer(+1)

Thank you for playing and for the feedback. I have a version with more player feedback. But since it wasn't one that was fixing a bug I didn't think it counted as a hotfix. I'm gonna be working on adding more to it and I all 100% open for more suggestions and feedback, because that's how my games and I will improve. Thank you again.

Submitted(+1)

I think this needs a little something more. Clicking blocks to break them is an alright mechanic, but there needs to be more meaning behind which blocks you break, when, and why. It ends up being really click heavy in a way that I could see tiring out wrists/fingers easily. I would recommend changing the clicks to break to like 1/2/3 or 2/3/4 instead of 2/4/6. The levels repeated, which made going through the whole 2-3minute timer felt a lot longer than it was, too.

Good job finishing and submitting though! I liked the music and making all your own assets is an achievement, too! Well done!

Developer(+1)

thank you for theplaying and for giving your feedback. I'm currently looking into seeing if I can have the tiles be procedurally generated when the scene is loaded for when I update the game more and I can definitely change the number of clicks. Thank you for the compliments too. The music and sounds are all the last things I made for the game and I'm pretty happy with what I was able to accomplish with this game so far.

Submitted(+2)

Very good idea! I agree that seeing what I dig would be better. I think that if you have a version with it, you can upload it as hot fix, Is there a way to pass to next "map" before digging everything?

Developer

I do have a version with that added. It's the 1.2 one. I didn't make a webgl build of it because it was made after the deadline and since it does add something and not really fix a big, I figured it wouldn't count as a hotfix.

Submitted(+1)

Has some good potential when you add some little things to keep the player engaged, nice work and congrats on making a functional game to submit.

Developer(+1)

Thank you. I'm working on adding some things, in fact, I already have added some things. Thank you for playing!

Submitted(+1)

no problem. Congrats on the game.

(+1)

Nice idea. Needs further development, but I understand that time was an issue.

Developer (1 edit)

Thank you for understanding and thank you for playing! I made a version with a couple small improvements (The one I ask people to ply play after they're already voted since the added stuff was added after the cutoff date. Thank you for playing!

Submitted(+1)

I like the core concept, but I definitely need some more decisions to make during a gameplay. On Unity2D course by GameDev.tv, Rick said that good gameplay is when you have at least three (as far as I remember:P) decisions to make (f.e. in tower defense - (1) if you want to buy defensive unit or economy unit, (2) if you want to buy cheaper but weaker or more expensive but stronger unit, (3) where to put it).

So I think here would be cool if I would be able to decide which type of tile I want to dig. So I can decide to dig faster (but the chance for good treasure will be smaller) and just focus on upper tiles and in any moment I can click button "next" and respawn all the tiles. Because now I need to dig everything.

Second thing that would be cool is to have different digging tools that I can buy for money from treasures.

Overall the main mechanic is cool because it's like taking the most addictive element of Minecraft :D dig, dig, dig! This can be very addictive! :D

Developer

Thanks for the feedback, even though I couldn't implement more stuff for it in its current state because of the time constraint. I'm gonna be adding more, when I can after the voting period is done. Remember, they did say on stream to submit what you could, I'm not making excuses, just saying that that's what I could do. I'll probably be adding more when I can but I won't be able to for a while cause I'm gonna be out of town for a few months soon. Also, I am adding more stuff to if in the mean time while voting's going on but I can't update the files with that during the voting since I'm pretty sure that doesn't count as hot fixing. Thank you for playing and for the feedback. It's the main way I can develop and improve.

Submitted(+2)

Cool idea!

I see on the comments people are saying that would it be better to see what we dig, I agreed, and probably you have thought about it but ran out of time.

Developer(+1)

Yep, well, a mix of that and anxiety. I made a version with something to show what you dig out but I'm not adding it til the voting's done because I made it after the deadline and I don't think that qualifies as a hotfix.

Submitted(+2)

Simple but good concept ! Would have been better if we could directly see what we dig up :)

Developer(+1)

I just added that today but I'm not adding it in til after the voting's over because I made it after the cutoff date. Thank you for playing it and for the feedback! :)

Submitted(+2)

Good idea! it would be more rewarding if you could see what you got from digging each block, or how much gold the character has already collected.

Developer

I might implement that if and when I develop this further. I have some ideas. Thank you for playing it and for the suggestion! Suggestions and comments are some of the best ways I can learn so I can improve.

Submitted(+1)

Nice idea, though I would love to have a chain effect when destroying certain objects.

Good job.

Developer(+1)

Chain effect? I'm not sure I understand. Like breaking one would break more, or something? Thank you for playing the game and for the feedback. :)

Submitted(+1)

Yeah, exactly that would give the player a short pause and some cool visuals :)

Developer(+1)

Might add that after the voting if and when I develop it more. I might change some of the dirt tiles too. If I do add more though, it probably wont be for a while since I'm gonna be going to another state in a couple months and will be gone for a few months for my first professional play.

Submitted(+1)

Great job on the pixel art!

I never found anything when I was digging, am I the fool in the fools gold?

Developer(+1)

On the results screen it should show you what your geodes contained and the amount you made from the treasures. I was planning on having something different but the coroutune i scripted didn't work out as I wanted it to and since there was a slight time crunch with the art and messing with the animator for the second time I wasn't able to debug that part so I instead reworked it so that it gives the number of the treasures you find. I'm starting to think of ways I could've done it better but, I guess that's part of hindsight, right? Thank you for playing and I hope you were able to have fun :)
