Thanks for the support MarcusFromOz!

Yeah I'm not really sure about the methodology of adjusting scores according to the median number of votes ? I suppose if there were a game that got only one vote but it was a 5.0 then it could win the jam  based off of only one vote , yet some other game got 100 votes with an average of 4.9?  However at a certain point many games will not get rated by all the participants so something like a 10/15/20% cut off for ratings participation might be an equally good method without lowering someone's effective score? /shrug I am not a math genius so I'll leave it to those folks :-)

In any case I think some of the initial gameplay bugs we had probably prevented more people from playing it at first and that's on us.

And finally - just came here to have fun and stretch my skills in a compressed time-frame so : mission accomplished!

Good idea for a game! I think all the controls could be with the mouse, it would be better. Good job!

Very nice unique and basic but fun and demanding logic you built your game on. Well done! I was caught by the police few times without audio clues maybe it's a bug to look at or the police are getting better at this :D

This was a lot of fun! Really unique concept and good execution. I think a few things could be tighter but this is a game jam after all. :) A few times I had the police catch me but there were no audio clues they were coming? Not sure if that's intentional or not. As others have said, it would be nice to control the pick with the mouse. It was kind of slow dragging the pick over to the lock for each shop. But really nice work overall. :)

Nice lockpick logic. Good music. Great game overall. Enjoyed playing it. Reached a high score of about 5000, but couldn't get away in time. 😅

Came across a bug, when you try to replay the game by clicking on the retry button or by going to the main menu and starting fresh, the game screen seems to stay in its last state from the previous try.

Cleared out the silver store, broke into the diamond store, then it sounded like the police were on their way so I escaped with 12,066 in my swag bag.

Nice game. Will give it another go and see how much further I can get. Knowing me I probably attempted the shops in the wrong order!

Btw found a small bug: the game countdown continues even on the game-over screen - just swapped back to the game and I had been arrested :)

Developer

Awesome, thanks for the feedback. Hoping to do some bugfixes this weekend. Appreciate the info about the counter! :)

Graphics and music - fantastic. I would polish the gameplay a bit more. But it's a matter of adding a few tweaks to make it a great game!

And maybe in the background some small plot in style of Ocean's Eleven or Guy Ritchie's movies? It would give a nice flavor to the whole set.

Submitted

Excellent job. Artwork, gameplay, audio. mood, just all great.

Nice concept, good lockpicking mechanic although maybe some variety in this would be good?

I got stuck in a loop once arrested I could not replay form any menu including goign right back to the start. Had to reload to replay whihc was a little annoying.

Great work on the game, love the concept but needs some de-bugging as all our entires do!

Great game! The lock picking was challenging and fun. Very unique idea!

Great game, I did run in to a few bugs and had to restart a few times but it was fun. I really enjoy the lockpicking system you put in place and it feels very smooth. Congrats on the game. I played it on a livestream tonight and if you wanted to check it out you can anytime at

Developer(+1)

Awesome thanks for the feedback, will definitely check out the livestream tomorrow (about to head to bed).

Developer(+1)

Ah okay checked out the stream. Somehow you experienced a bug we did not catch. Something about you leaving the first store when you triggered the alarm made the front door locks of the other stores unpickable. I'll have to try to reproduce and fix that one! That was definitely not intended. Sorry for the negative experience.

Also not sure if it was to do with your screen resolution or a different bug but you were missing the 'getaway' button to end the game and restart. Will see if I can repro that as well.

It not until other people play your game that you find most of the bugs! Thanks for streaming it so I can see what happened :)

Submitted

Yeah I find the exact same thing. No matter how much I try to test and get rid of bugs as soon as I let other people play it im instantly like wtf how did you do that? whats going on? lol. I really like your lockpicking mechanic. It feels very smooth. I would definitely save that mechanic in your toolkit for other games as a mini game or something in it. Kind of like the lockpicking in Fallout.

Mixed feelings here... this game and the concept in general is FUN! But unfortunately quite buggy. I tried 5-6 times (that's a lot compared to other games) but the thing that ruined it for me, is that the game loop is busted. You can't restart the game after losing, the retry / continue buttons don't work, even if you try getaway. I had to close and start the game from scratch. Also... might want to explain what a "tumbler" is  to us non-burglar types haha. I couldn't tell what I was doing wrong exactly. The keyboard presses are not as delicate to do a good job. But after managing a store lock, the case lock inside triggered the alarm immediately, I didn't even do anything.

This can be a super fun game, and in fact, a great multiplayer game, where you play with a teammate accomplice and you have to coordinate delicate moves, or perhaps another entire team of players are the cops etc. I liked a LOT about this game, but unfortunately a bit buggy, and perhaps the difficulty level with how delicate those lockpick moves are could be toned down. I would suggest fixing the game loop bug and I'd happily try it again.

I didnt manage to pick a lock, did manage to get arrested tho.

I would suggest letting your player know what the controls are.

Nice concept!

Submitted

I played a few times but found that whenever I moved the lockpick the alarm would trigger.
Is that intentional, as I thought the instructions said don't hit the tumbler or the alarm would trigger.

I won't rate yet because that would be unfair, but I like what your doing with the game, good suspense.

Developer

Hey Marcus, thanks for the feedback! We fixed the bug where the pick immediately triggers the alarm, should be a little easier to not trip it now. :)

Submitted

Thanks Sean, I'll give it another go just now.

Hello  - thanks for the feedback. I put in a fix for lockpicking - on doing the 2nd lockpick the pick would accidentally be intersecting with the lock and cause the alarm to go off no matter what you did. This should now be working as intended (only when you intersect the pick with the body of the lock will it go off).

Submitted

Cool concept really enjoyed picking the locks. also can confirm on the lockpick always touching the sides of the jewelry cases at the start. also even when I clicked the getaway and exit, the police could catch me. and the retry button did not work I had to close the game every time.

but despite of these I liked your game and I managed to rob 2 cases under the circumstances lol. hell of a thief I am lol.

Developer

Hey Pouyan, I appreciate the feedback! We fixed the issue with the pick immediately triggering the alarm on the jewelry cases last night. Still looking into the buttons not working as expected. :)

Submitted

Cool concept and as others have said it would be fun to control the lockpick with the mouse, show off our dexterity! Sadly clicking on the jewelry cases my lockpick always seemed to start in contact with the lock, sending the police my way through no fault of my own.  😢 I wonder if this has to do with screen resolution? I encountered a bug in my own game when I went from 1080p in the unity editor to my desktop resolution of 1440p. Maybe look into that.

Fun concept and I love the art!

Submitted

Good game!  I haven't been able to pick a lock yet...  Will try again tomorrow!

Submitted

I would like to use mouse to open locks so I can be faster or at least move faster.

I liked the concept, cool and good job :)

Submitted

I liked it!

But when the cops capture em, I can't Retry, I needed to close the game and open it again.

But It was good to play, awesome!

I like the controls -- the lock picking feels slow, but lock picking is a precision art, so... :P

Now I just gotta find a way to fence these goods
