Good Game! At first me and my partner would have liked something like this, but in the end we have choose something else ;)
I like the chicken sound on the parrot :)

Wow, really good - there's a lot of game here. Good job on the UI (and tutorial text), graphics and combat.
I made the mistake of hitting Escape to try and pause and I think that did an Application.Quit. Other feedback would be look at speeding up the non-combat parts of the game. Combat felt great.
Cool game, with the right amount of minimum polish! The digging on the islands were a bit strange, but got used to it fast :D Combat is nice and tricky with the controls, the AI could use some more fine-tuning. Really liked those small and nice additions like cannon balls dropping in the water effects (visuals and audio together).
Upgraded my rating after seeing MetalStorm play this game and realising what I was doing wrong i.e. I was expecting to have a player move on to the island to loot but you loot directly by being next to the jetty.
Apologies for not understanding originally, even with your good tutorial.
Added to my collection to play more of it.
At first I was a bit lost because I didn’t understand what you meant by JETI, but maybe that’s just me and my grasp of the English language.
Combat is pretty fun although the AI seems to have some problems. Their aim is pretty bad and some ships keep sailing in circles forever.
I have to agree with other comments that the UI is a bit obtrusive. Specially the stats of your ship should be out of the way or at least as the player you should be able to hide them.
In a nutshell, Pretty chill and fun battleship game.
Great start to a game, has a lot of feel of Sid Meirs Pirates. I like it and think it is a great start to a real game. I played it tonight on my livestream if you wanted to see it for the feedback you can here
Good base game! Pace was slightly too slow for me, but overall movement feels good, sound effect is good, just need to add more content to the game and it'll be better :)
This was awesome. Loved it. I really would love to see this go further. You could go in lots of directions. Even an rts like age of empires but on the seas instead with islands as territories. Or RPG searching for treasures in a huge open sea world. Really solid base to build from and has many angle you can use. Great job.
I think it was a good game, but the pacing was a little bit too slow, from the movement speed to the plundering speed (Holding space). But the combat was fun and the workflow of checking your surroundings/map I found fun, overall a cool game!
Nicely polished take on the pirate ship theme we've seen this jam. I liked your take on naval combat, but it looks like it breaks if you stop moving. I managed top line up behind an enemy ship and they just kept firing at nothing while I destroyed them.
Overall, the pacing is too slow for a game jam. Speeding up the movement and especially the digging time would work wonders for pacing.
Well done and good job!
Thankyou for your review and taking the time to play, yes you're correct by not moving it does kinda break. I used a navmesh to get the ships to locate the player, my main mechanic was getting them to fire from their sides, taking up a good day of my 2 weeks getting them to learn this. However i opted to go with an easier workaround instead of Rotations and Eulers by giving the player extra targets around their ship for the enemy to zone in on. I could just simply put a loop in to target a different one on the ship but time (like with everyone) was getting shorter.
So what I liked... the game play was reasonably intuitive, it looked really nice and the parrot was funny.
What I wasn't so keen on... the UI was in the way taking up most of the screen which I found super frustrating.
I got all the gold, got to 100 and was just obliterated (nice touch with the colour change btw) from then I did not know what to do so a slowly sailed all the way back to get my gold an it wasn't able to be recovered.
Fix a couple of bits, add multiplayer battles and you have a really nice game!
Great work in just 2 weeks!
ohh no!! How frustrating!
I played through the game tons and that never happened before, was the boss alive or dead at the time of you wanting to pick up your lost treasure?
At 25%, 50%, 75% and 100% in your notoriety gauge there will be hunting ships out for you on the map... if they’re not dealt with by the time you reach the boss it can make for a pretty difficult battle.
If it’s any conciliation if you had of picked up your treasure AND already killed ol Solomon you would have completed it and won.
Thankyou for your time and feedback
This was fun. I think I had a glitch at some point and space wouldn't work. The sea battle experience was super fun actually. It would have been hilarious if you had collisions on for the ships so you could inflict (and suffer) damage during crashes haha.
Also I would recommend perhaps the score map be a little bit smaller? or maybe a bit transparent? Or perhaps "toggable" out of view as I felt it was obstructing my view of the world. (perhaps same for the parrot, but that was also helpful because of the instructions in the beginning).
How did it fit the theme exactly?
You can definitely improve the game (either during this jam or if you feel like doing more with the project afterwards) by actually linking that revenge/greed to the gameplay. Maybe it was there, and I didn't notice it... but the more gold you find the more the AI can actually find you and chase you? So you'd have to be smart strategic about it, like maybe after some gold findings you go and stash it somewhere safe in your pirate base or something, and come out again to hunt for more gold. But the more you get, a) maybe your boat is slower! (haha) and b) more enemy ships chase you.
But anyways, super fun regardless, I know we didn't have time to put all of our excellent ideas in our games ;)
Nice work! The map is huge! It seems like there is a lot of gold to plunder :) I found that this was among the better implementations of pirate ship combat. While probably realistic, the boat moved a little slow for my taste. There were a number of typos as well which was distracting but other than that I really enjoyed your project!
I ran outta cannon balls :(.
And i wanted more from the parrot :D.
Nice gameplay set up.
Would be nice if the chests your plundered would disappear from the map once you've got them.
Well done, really nice game.
Great looking and playing game! I enjoy the overall look and feel, well done!
I would have wanted the boat to always go towards my mouse whenever I click and hold.
Overall, it's a good game, I really enjoyed going around in a pirate boat and firing at others and hunting for treasure :)
Good job!
I was like ok I'm gonna play this for 5 minutes get some sleep then come back later.
1 hour later... plundered all the treasures, fighting 3 ships at the same time. pirate lord comes in.
almost got the pirate lord in my first try . came back to finish the lord with only one hit. lol
Great game well done.
