I love a good pinball game!
One of my OG favorites was Sonic Spinball on the Sega Genisis.
You made a really nice pinball game here with an interesting story!
Please consider also rating and reviewing my game when you have a moment to spare!
I would appreciate the opportunity to grow and improve based on your feedback.
Will do after work tonight, (7:30am just now here) cheers
Nice pinball game! A classic, but always works. Nice implementation!
Thanks for being frank :)
Ahah
Classic good old arcade pinball game. Nice physics implementation, I really had a good time playing it! I would only suggest to work a bit more the UI style ;D
Interesting, I'll have a closer look at your game to pick up some tricks :)
It was really a good game and I had fun playing it. The graphics could have been a little better, but that didn't detract from the gameplay experience. I played it for a really long time and kept trying to beat my high score and was very ambitious ^^.
Noice :)
I managed to get D E and A on my first ball without doing anything haha but I found the controls laggy and the performance wasn't great. I imagine it runs better as a download but could do with some optimisation, for such a simple game I think it should perform better even on WebGL.
Yeh I'm looking forward to making it a downloadable game again, and I think some FindObjectsByType() that are in there can be replaced by events and delegates in a more considered programming design. Yeh there is some jam code in there that needs Profiler run over it. I'm guessing I'll learn a lot by fine tuning that.
I treated the Jam as a braindump of what I knew (with a couple of googles for some tricks), and I'm really happy with how I've progressed since my first jam two years ago, when I basically followed course material.
There is a downloadable version now in case you are interested.
It's a pinball game! Never enough of them! Really fun! ^^
I loved the bullet sounds :D Really well story told with just two (or at least two) pinball machines! I couldn't get past the mutant-machine :P When it's calmer again, I want to try it again.

The pinball physics felt solid! Good job on the submission 😎
Graphics are not good, but the game itself is worth 5 stars for fun! Mechanics are solid. Keep going!
I see things from an engineer/programmers perspective and probably can't see what you do.
I'd appreciate more info on improvement of the graphics as that is probably the area I most need to improve.
Even if you could throw some keywords for me to google I'd appreciate it.
Sure, sorry for not having gone into more detail.
Generally the style is very cluttered, I would be careful with combining many bright colours and textures.
The itch page for yor game is hard to read because of patterns in the background and very playful text.
Less is more. Maybe make the background much more transparent or replace it with a simple colour and let the screenshots speak for themselves.
And ingame less textures and more into the direction of simple colours with different brightness values - because some colours "fight" with others. You can look up complementary colours. There are tools for picking good colour combinations: color.adobe.com, or have a look at the palettes on lospec.com.
Hope that helps!
That does help, it sounds like I need to do some art courses to improve my perspective so I can indie dev better.
Very useful, thank you.
I was really impressed by this submission at first given how it was basically a functioning pinball game even if it was very basic, but then LEVEL 2 CAME AND I COULD SHAKE THE MACHINE! That was intense and I didn't end up beating it but you guys definitely put a lot of work into this I just wish it was better optimized because I was getting lag problems and also you could have made it scale responsively to be better formatted for the page and exported with the minimal preset instead of the big unity WebGL logo. Other than that though, it was a blast to play and deserving of the sacred 5 Stars for FUN.
Awesome, thanks mate, once the jam is over I'm going to swap it back to being primarily a windows based downloadable game, that should fix any performance issues. I'll look into those other points though, didn't even know I could change the Unity WebGL logo heh.
Yeh Level 1 was deliberately kept simple so people could get through it fast and get the theme reference of beating Death being just the beginning of the game :)
There is now a downloadable version if you wish to try it. :)
I really liked this entry, I couldn't beat the 2nd level though, by the time I got there I only had 2 lives left, I would probably make an easy mode where the player has unlimited lives or something to help players experience the game
Thanks for the feedback, at this stage there are only two levels, but level 2 does have extra ball and score multipliers to go for a really big score.
To think I started giving the player only 3 balls, how crazy was that.
Nice game! Good work.
I love this pinball simulator, indeed, really well simulated physics for the ball! Used to play a lot of pinball machines. I have a bug to report though, which made me have to restart the game when i was at about 5k of score but the ball got stuck and the flipper became twir..ky? basically the ball would launch vertically a tiiiiny bit and then back to being stuck:
O the top left of the "A" paddle on the image.
Cheers, and nonetheless a very good game. I think tomorrow i'll download it since the browser version was a bit laggy on that map for me.
PS: what's up with itchio and weird errors when sending messages? LOL it said the message had to be between 1 and -214700000(whatever) characters long xDD
Hi mate, there is a tilt function on the S and K keys that should get you past getting stuck anywhere.
I added the artists flippers in late and ran out of playtest time for that, but yeh I can make some minor changes to locations and angles for that flipper.
As another physics guy I'm glad you liked it.
I haven't seen the itch messaging error and take no responsibility for it :)
" haven't seen the itch messaging error and take no responsibility for it :)"
Hahahahah, itchio seems to really lie trolling me when sending comments, got that error quite a few times today :P
Also, didn't notice the tilt thing, i will download it tommorrow and try again, else at this rate i won't sleep, lol. (5:30am xD)
This is a great pinball simulator. I loved all the pinball mechanics in it. It took me back to my uncles garage, he had a couple of pinball machines in the garage when I was growing up. Great Job! Impressive.
Thanks, I looked at some machines recently and for the ones I used to play (eg Playboy) they want 5k-7k.
Making my own is cheaper:)
I'm not very good at pinball but I enjoyed it! Great work mate!
Thanks :)
Really got that pinball feel down good. Nice work!
I played this for a lot longer that I thought would! 17,589 was my best score (I think).
That's a great score.
I'd love to see Tim and Rick play a game each and compete muhawawaw :)
Extremely fun love it!!
This storyline is nuts but love me some pinball even if I am terrible. Great work. I was bumping this table like it went out of style.
Hah nice :)
Yeh the storyline isn't based on reality fortunately. The dumb shit we write when we are tired eh :)
Awesome pinball game. Was surprised i couldn't tilt by bumping all the time, but i wouldn't say it's a bad thing :P Good Job!
Yeh I need to think about a tilt design, and I also need to come up with a longitudinal tilt rather than just the lateral ones, because to be honest when I play pinball I only ever nudge the ball longitudinally.
For the jam I needed the lateral one as a priority though to stop people getting stuck in loops :)
cheers
Yeah I get that, honestly I enjoyed it. Might try my hand at one. Love the display at the top too
