Snakes and ladders where Im from. :) Very nice recreation. Dice #2 is bugged for all, so the very first ladder is always missed, lol. I lost my game, I was 4 away from the end, not fearing the last snake, lol, but for the life of me kept rolling fives and sixes and not able to finish. Stupid green sneaked up and lucked out first time. Would be nice to have sfx or something else going on to keep the player interested
Thanks for playing. The script for dice roll is random 500 for all 3 axes.
Will see if I can find suitable sfx for dice roll which I think is the most important sfx. I couldn't find a suitable free one for the jam. After the jam I am free to use other sources 😉. Then maybe I can include sfx for snakes and ladder activation parts.
You did a beautiful job of recreating Chutes and Ladders. It feels like the real thing. The only problem is that like Chutes and Ladders you really only allow the user to roll a dice and everything is chance. This mean we wait and click a button every so often and pray we get good numbers. I think in order to keep people really engaged you need to up the immersion by adding more sounds and upping the effects like sliding really fast on 5, 6 rolls, adding dust particles to the pieces. Then on a 1 or 2 popping up an sad face emoji. It just needs some juice to give it that extra kick to keep the players wanting to see what comes next. Again, I want to say though you nailed the feel of the original game, this is a great board game simulation, as you can tell I am not a huge fan of the original game because of the randomness and lack of decision space.
Full little game reminds me of my youth.
There seems to be a bug with the dice, it will always re-roll when rolled a 2
Could do with some more sound effects, like a dice roll sound and the sound of the tokens moving on the board and going up ladders and down snakes.
I won, so hurray! I was quite behind for a while but requiring an exact roll for the win gives the player a chance to catch up so I liked that.
I also noticed that sometimes the dice rolls twice? I don't know if it was something detecting that the dice was "cocked" but it seemed to trigger even when there appeared to be a clear result.
Yes if the dice didn't land well, a re-toss is done.
I did try to look for dice throw sound effects but couldn't find suitable free source. So if there's no dice sound effects, it would be weird to have sounds for other effects
Great submission! I’ve rated your game. I hope that you’ll check out and rate my submission as well. :-)
Done! Your submission is great too! Congrats!
Thank you!
Good game and well done. Just a note: The red colored player is listed as Gold Player as well as the gold colored player being listed as Gold Player.
Hmm... I tried to replay several times with Red and Gold as computer/human in all combinations with Green and Blue as computer. And I still couldn't reproduce the error. Red player's turn and roll result is described as red, likewise gold as gold.
Awesome job with creating all of this! Can't help but be a little salty with my luck, rolled three 1's at the beginning while the CPU got all the way to 70 haha.
Thanks for playing. Haha.. I had to check if results were indeed random. There was a time I tweaked some settings and it would roll the same number all the time. Now I think it's random.
Really nice job in the implementation, it would be cool to release this on mobile. I could see playing this on a tablet with family on vacation.
Android tablet? Have not tried, but good idea. Once I fix the label bug, I'll see how to export an Android version.
Game looks clean. Music is nice and relaxing.
It's a bit slow though, waiting for the die roll for 3 other players. Would be nice to have a 2x or even 3x speed multiplier when you want to go fast. :)
Thanks for suggestion.
nice game!
Thanks!
Nice narrative
Thanks! I had deliberately stayed away from the expected macabre focus.
Nice narrative
Beautiful looking game.
Thanks!
