This is a nice mystery game! I think it would be nice if there was a menu that showed all of the gathered clues (even if it was just text on a notepad) so the player could review. Good job!
What is really funny about that - I HAD that exact mechanism in mind, a notepad that would be written to each time a clue was solved. Unfortunately, it was one of the small things that missed the cut due to time constraints. But in a perfect world that would be included, I agree. Thank you for taking the time to play and review!
So... That was interesting! But most of all, yeah, the credits were so funny. Appropriate for a jam. I really liked the introduction, were all the different words changed. Well done for drawing all of this by yourself!

With the recent surge of mystery games with unique resolution mechanics, I think a full game focusing on compiling evidence from different photos could make for an incredible experience. The idea of comparing details from multiple shots and drawing conclusions really appeals to me.
For this iteration, I felt that the clues given were somewhat lacking, and I was fully defeated by the kitchen photo. I missed a conversation that appeared to the right of the stairs at first, and the limit of clicks per attempt made the process of trying to figure out what I was looking for, being forced out, and having to leave and come back to trigger it again rather tedious. I can't ask for a hint as it would spoil it for others, but I hope someone posts a playthrough or something for those of us who didn't make it to the end!
That said, I still love the concept, and I'm looking forward to whatever project you follow this up with!
Thank you for the feedback. It's tricky to get the difficulty balance just right. I won't spoil the kitchen scene but I will say this... there are a couple different ways one might arrive at the clue... it's not universal to all the rooms/photos but in this instance... look at what might be present in a certain quantity in the photo, then one fewer in the current state of the room and its "background".
Great job! The story was interesting, and the photo mechanic is well implemented. One point of user-friendliness that would help is giving a bit of space between detecting the click for advancing the dialogue and the one for signalling a clue. I managed to waste all my chances to look at a photo due to over-clicking but perhaps that’s just me.
This is a good solid foundation for a micro release, the mechanics are solid and with some more time, I’m sure the art would shine. If you added two more “cases”, I’d think you’d have a nice little product.
I really appreciate that feedback. You pointed out one minor flaw that I ran out of time on but yeah I agree with your assessment - I did the exact same thing a couple times in playtesting haha. I am going to be doing something very similar to this that will involve multiple adventures so it's really nice to hear that it may be a viable effort. Thank you for playing!
Love the transition between exploration and investigating the photos, really well done! I appreciate the little touches like the highlighting effect when you click the correct object. You kept me interested from start to finish. Loved the atmosphere created with the cool intro and fitting music. Amazing job!

Story was quite interesting and solving it as well, but I do have to say that it toooook ages to get to actually play, the cutscenes and text seemed very slow. (ours have similar issue as well, not on this scale though).
Looking through pictures was a great addition and I liked the little quirky comments when clicking on something non important :D
A very high quality intro which did an amazing job of setting the stage. I enjoyed the little details in the photographs even if our protagonist complained that the mouse hiding beneath the cushion wasn't important or that looking at the bird in the window was wasting time.
(Still) Life in 2 Dimensions is a great take on the theme and finding clues through photographs is a good mechanic. The credits... may have been a bit long, but I did learn the correct way to pronounce B17 so there's that.
This is the complete package! Fun, looks nice, good story, and the right amount of silliness (love the credits). The mechanic of looking through the pictures is simple, but works nicely, and it seems that you had a good sense for how to make it the right amount of difficult (although I gotta agree with kindman; the kitchen one was awfully tricky).
I also think you've done a really great job making this perfectly "jam-sized." I was able to play all the way through, see everything, and get just enough of an idea about the gameplay to rate (and want more...), and I think that in itself is a feat. Great work!
I'm damn near blushing over here, thank you so much. The size was an intentional choice 100% (and yours was likewise - perfect size for the project scope). I wanted to practice personal project management and by golly, it showed me I can do it. The credits were fun to mess around with lol. Many many thanks! My bad on the kitchen, I should have made that clue slightly bigger lol.
I love how the game looks and sounds. The murder mystery is good. Very cool opening sequence and credits. I didn't expect much shock value when I saw the art style. But the dead reveal scene got me good.

well, "I" just spent half an hour looking at that kitchen photo time and time again until the good wedding photographer's eyes started bleeding - so I hope this tells you how much I enjoyed YOUR game (or how guilty I felt for you missing out on your priceless working hours).
But seriously I had a lot of fun and just realized how a good murder mystery is never out of fashion. I mean: TWISTS - am I right? You gotta love them. I am collecting techniques and ideas for my first full (or maybe half) scale game and that murder-mystery-realization might influence the general direction in a pretty substantial way... so thank your for that.
also: that eclectic art style of yours is *chefs kisses* it's just so funny and a little rediculous, that it sets the tone perfectly for the adventure. and great music, too! overall: very strong entry.
