Fun, I liked the art, the gameplay is OK but the character got stuck on the edge of the platform :D

Developer

Oh that's a new one. I'll add it to the minor bugs I have to address in a post jam release :)

That was fun! The soundtrack is cool, the art is proficient, and the character design is charming. The chain was especially fun to use!

The camera is a little awkward at times.

That intro noise is a bit loud; it peaks at +0.1 dB!

All-in-all, great work!

The core mechanic is really well thought. Colour is used really well and the overall vibes are really spooky! It was fun until I got dizzy by the camera and I couldn't continue... Setting aside that, really cool game!

The black and white tones were very well used. Attacking enemies with the chain is very satisfying. I just think the gameover could be a bit quicker, but that’s just a detail. It’s a great game, congratulations!

Really enjoyed the gameplay. Loved the grapple mechanic! One tiny complaint would be the camera moves around way too fast and too often. I had to look away and stop staring at the screen every so often. Other than that, nice one!

Developer(+1)

Yeah the camera is a minor issue I'd like to fix in a post jam release. Glad you enjoyed it anyway :)

The gameplay and idea is nice and works nicely, the art isn't super stunning but it's not bad and the music is quite nice. overall this is fairly nice just the game can be a bit hard when just starting out and the lack of checkpoints hurt. still this was fun just think there are things that can be improved

Developer(+1)

Haha yea improvements are often possible in jam games. Glad you enjoyed it though

The chains are really cool and fun to use, and the gameplay overall is smooth and fast. I like it!
I couldn't pass through a difficult jump on the 3rd level tho. I think it would be better if there was no life counter, so I don't have to start from the beginning if I miss that jump :P

Developer(+1)

Haha yes maybe. But then again, where's the challenge in that :D

Couldn't get far enough for aiming the chain to be useful, but I appreciate that the control scheme here captures diagonals.

Very Castlevania-inspired, and a solid game at that.

Great job! Check out my review here:

Thank you very much for the review and also the link, as I wasn't able to watch it live due to time zones!

I love the shadow art style. The gameplay is pretty tight as well, great job!

Cool game, love the style with black/white characters design it's really giving dark vibe. Also the core mechanics with grappling hook is awesome!

Nice little platformer! I also like the castlevania like soundtrack

Developer

Thanks a lot. I'm kinda proud of the music, especially the first level track, as this is my first serious attempt at composing chiptune and it turned out quite nice :D

Love this game! Awesome core mechanic, simple with clever level design to ramp up the challenge. Excellent music as well! My one (minor) issue was the camera following the player so closely when jumping - other than that it controlled super smoothly!

Really liked the mechanics  and the background here! Sad that you couldn't finish the boss, I had fun squashing him
