I love this game! its satisfying to play and quite scary as well, which I was not expecting. It controls so well and the flashlight an oxygen mechanics work so well. Great job!

Wow, awesome job! I love how polished and complete your game feels, and the art style is really cute!

At first I was a little bit confused what the flares are for, but as I played through your maps it became clear that flares are needed to keep track of locations and landmarks. I think it's a great idea to help players explore and understand the map on their own, especially when there is no space for mini map.

And all of this works really well because of the great map design. The fact that you can't see a lot of the time also adds to the mystery and keeps players engaged as they try to find the scientists.

I really liked your take on the submarine exploration theme, and I might have to borrow some of your ideas for my own game :)

If there was anything to nitpick on, I think the submarine's lighting state sprite could be slightly improved, the little dots coming off of the submarine follows the submarine too perfectly and doesn't feel like light rays. But otherwise I think the game is superb.

Developer

thank you so much for playing through and the feedback! yeah one of the things i personally felt was the lighting was to perfect. If I ever go back to it ill probably try to animate the pixels to give it a bit more life feeling.

Really good game! I'm really impressed that you were able to achieve this all on your own and it shows me how much I can be able to grow. I adored everything in this game/ The visuals were fantastic and the music really helped me feel like I was part of the environment. The giant monster also helped add more suspense and weight to each mission besides the time limit slowly ticking away.

Game is awesome. That's a lot of work for a jam, congrats! Only downside is that even if I selected ZQSD, game was running with Qwerty layout - so that was too hard for me to save the scientists :(

Developer

oh wow really? I will definitely double check that! thanks for letting me know! its something i want to make sure everyone has is easy accessibility.

Great work!  This was adorable.  The art was fantastic, both the title and the sprites.  I loved the cute theme too, of the cats' mission. :)  I think you did just about everything right - the only [minor] issue I had was with the random catty comments, they would sometimes block my view of what was going on (and I was always in a hurry, haha), though I did like the cuteness of the commenting, it was just in the way. :)  All in all, great entry, really well thought out and excellently produced.

Developer

thank you so much for the feedback! yeah that was one of the difficulty i had this jam was deciding how to add the commentary text. I definitely wanted to have more but i was thinking "hmm there's going to be times where this gets in the way and the player will get stuck or something because they cant see"

I loved the cute little kittens :D

Incredible! That Angler Fish really scared me o_O!!!

The cat divers are so cute. Love the little dialog that appears.

My only feedback would be I was confused on how to start this game. Why do you have to press the 1 key to select player 1?

Developer

yeah honestly i should have made that more clear. When it askes you to select 1 or 2. that means the control layouts. Because the game was designed for English and French/EuAlt Keyboards

thanks for playing!

Love the music and I'm a big fan of 2D games that play with light mechanics!

Developer

thanks so much!

Cool concept and great atmosphere. Having cats is a plus.

Submitted

Super!

1 query : What is the 2nd control scheme mean. ZQSD is odd

1 wish : i missed a map layout because i was so low on O2 and i got lost...so lost. At least i never died alone! i always had a scientist to die along with me!

Developer

ZQSD is for FR Canadian keyboards or French or EU alternative layout :)

Whoa! Okay okay

Wow... just wow! This is absolutely amazing! I love the atmosphere of the game and got completely immersed, or submerged rather, in it. The theme was great and everything was executed incredibly well! You should be super proud of yourself! :D

Give me a jump scare warning, that was scary! Good game and it was fun to go down and try to rescue the scientists!

Developer

hahaha! that would ruin the surprise ;) but yeah i did consider that.

Ok, I was not expecting that monster, that scared me a bit. Great atmosphere, and the divers are super cute. Great game!

Interesting game..
I think everything make this game feels like a Game Boy game, from graphics to musics and also the animations..

Well, congratulations on this game and for participating o/

Omg the cat-divers!!! ;_;

This is such a cool idea and the execution is just as great and so atmospheric! Great job. Also that angler-fish looks awesome!

This was a cool game- I'm afraid of deep water so I definitely got spooked at certain points (especially when I realized we aren't alone down there).

Great Game Boy aesthetic, too. Nicely done.

Submitted

nice game indeed! wish it could be arrow keys, but just a tiny gripe. really well made and one of the contenders for the jam for sure.

Developer(+1)

Noted! would you also remap the K L keys or keep them the same?

Submitted

yeah, a remap to Z&X - or just a third alternative to the other two layouts.
