I played another game similar to this and feel that a mix of the two controls would probably be the best version of this kind of game.  I liked the graphics and CRT effects.  Good juice, was fun but wish there was more (not a bad thing).  :)

Probably the juiciest game I've played from this jam, the combo counter getting bigger than the screen was ridiculous and amazing

It does come at the expense of readability, but frankly, worth it

Developer(+1)

yes, i actually was about to implement a max size of the combo and then thought "you know what, lets keep it, looks fun". who really needs to distinguish between "x80" or "x82" :D

Wish all games were designed with this mindset lol

Really enjoyed the retro entry, also the gameplay its pretty good and juicy. Very nice job!!

Very juicy, the revelation that enemies don't even kill me was so fun, like just shredding through hordes of them was so satisfying! Not much else to say, really; Fun presentation, nothing* felt unpolished, and the accessibility option of disabling the crt effect was really cool!

* making WASD work in the main menu would've been nice

It is definitely juicy

This is pretty fun!

  • The attack is unique and fun to play around with
  • My first time I assumed I could die so I was careful to avoid the baddies, second time I realized I could just go in to a crowd and swing my head around
  • The visual effects are cool (I'm a little biased because we went in a similar direction with our visual effects)
  • The feedback feel good and satisfying
  • I noticed you can still attack after you die and your character disappears

Short and sweet and fun! And all the juice.....

This was fun! The idea of having an invincible player but just to have to fight the chrono for and I high is quite original and addictive.

By the way, I made 606900pts :p (I tried to reach the 100 combo but never could)

Simple but satisfying! Great work!

So much screenshake! Pretty fun to play. A simple idea making good use of the juicy requirements!

So much juice :D my eyes almost exploded! :P

So I ran around in circles smacking people with my head like a tetherball, without repercussion.. I couldn’t understand how or if I was getting hurt although I eventually dead.

Love the idea, simple and very well executed.
Lots of juice implemented and I liked the "tv" effect on the screen.

Only critique I can offer is that once the enemy was being filled with enemies, I was just spamming the spacebar as fast as possible to continually dash.

Great job, also love seeing some Godot in here.

Interesting idea, I had fun

Cool! The presentation is great and the combat does feel pretty juicy. I feel like having the player not get hurt takes away from the potential strategy, because I found myself zooming straight through everybody. Maybe that was the goal though. Well done!

Developer

it is actually a (unvoluntary) design choice. when it gets crowded on the screen you couldnt avoid getting hit by some creeps and then you just die without really avoiding it or realizing. if you play to passive you are not able to get a large crowd of enemys with one swing (which was the most fun i think). So i just made the player invincible. You can solve the problem of course by adding another melee attack or a lot of other stuff, but well, theres no time for that :D

Oh cool! Yeah I guess that makes sense.
