I like the retro art and music.

Nice looking retro game.

Kinda lacks juice but does look GREAT, among the best retro visuals I've seen :-)

Well made, but could use more feedback/juice for when you get hit. It's pretty unclear I hit something sometimes.

Hey, a game for the GBA, how cool! My highscore was 43, got  to see some wacky effects such as vision impairment one and the one that reverses controls. The music from the start menu is amazing. One thing that could be improved is the feedback when getting hit, but other than that it was a fun experience.

(I'm very curious about the underwater wavey effect, is it an animation or was there code involved to distort the background?)

Good job!

Developer

Thank you very much for your feedback!

We used an H-Blank effect embedded in the code to distort the background.

Cool little game, nice graphics. I liked zipping around eating the other fish.

Love the bounce effect and sound, dint realize I was taking damage though until I died on 9 fishies xD

Woah GBA, I was wondering why this game had such a retro feel to it, seriously impressive!

Thank you very much!

Caught 10 fish until I ran into a spike :D

I don’t think pressing Z should be necessary (would have made it more simple).. and having tons more fish to catch would have made it for me.

Great effort!

Thank you,

Feel free to test your skills, other fish providing different effects appear the more points you have :D

Awesome presentation! And I'm impressed that this is a GBA game. I think there could be more visual feedback as others mentioned but that's about it

It's very cute. I love the pixel art, although it seems like the game is missing any challenge. From my experience, I was the only danger to myself. In general great work.

Thank you,

Other fish providing different effects appear the more points you have and we wanted it to spice up our arcade game :D

I enjoyed the art, game play loop was simple, but solid.  Visual damage cues would be nice, but still pretty recognizable .  As much as I love the intro building up to show all the fish on the main menu, I'd love a "retry" button to jump back in immediately.

I loved the wavy background effect of the water, super slick.

Neat that this was emulated for GBA.  I've played with GB studio, but didn't know there was a GBA engine out there!

Good work!

Developer

Thanks a lot, don't hesitate to download the source code !

Fun little game well made, nothing bad I can really say about it. not particularly juicy but as far as the game feel goes it accomplished feeling like a game boy game and was cute to look at/interact with

I did not expect this game to be a GBA one. Very pleasing gameplay

Nice gameplay and gameloop, a visual effect to make sure the player understand he/she took damage would be amazing! I really enjoy trying these game!

great stuff! I was not really good. I loved the funny start screen. but I think that the start key doesn't have to only be enter, I had to restart the game and watch the controls again to understand.

You can add even more impact to the movement and fish eating, make the main actions even more satisfying.

solid game, good work.
