I really liked this game! Would you mind chatting with me over discord? My sis and I wanna learn more about making music for our games and yours sounded so good! I hope it isn't too much trouble!
I haven't seen many games (if any) with this style of humour on here--thank you for making something different!
Thanks for the compliment on the humour! Unfortunately, due to private matters, I am unavailable to contact privately on Discord. Sorry for any inconvenience and good luck with your game!
Hey I get it--I should have considered the whole privacy thing! Sorry about that! I was just curious about the program you used--I should have just asked you that over itchio. I wish you luck as well!
Sorry if I alarmed you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
No no no no. It's not like that at all. I should've made a bit more of an effort on my side to help people who are so eager.
When getting better at any skill, you have to first learn how to learn.
I personally applied a lot of what I had heard about learning game design to music. I failed fast constantly and made sure to always share my music with my friends to get their feedback.
Sorry, I don't really know what more to say, but hopefully you find this helpful. Have a good day!
very fun! katie kinda reminds me of nicole from class of 09
Yeah, I was just thinking that the other day, lol.
The amount of style this game has is surprising! I really loved the humor as well. I think combined with the audio and the style, the gameplay also works pretty well. If you were to expand this after the jam and include more scenarios I would definitely love to see that. Great work!
Yeah, I agree with you there. Adding more dialogue and characters would help. Thanks for the feedback!
Dude you made me laugh with this one. My first association was Monty Python. A psychiatrist who is clearly not the most normal is trying to help patients whose IQ is less than 50. The very idea is wacky, and when I saw what problems the patients had and the answers offered, things became even crazier. It's not for everyone. I suspect that some people will not get that kind of humor or even think that it has gone a little too far. I personally find it hilarious. As far as the technical side is concerned, there is not much to say. Minimalist pixel graphics and jazz loop that further emphasize the whole bizarreness. The main star of the game is the dialogue. I believe you had a great time working on this game.
Thank you so much! Honestly! One of the nicest compliments I've ever received! Being compared to such a group as Monty Python is such an honour! Hope you have a great day man!
Thanks and keep working on this as long as it entertains you no matter what others say. It's original and funny. Greeting.
Thanks so much dude! Keep going with your games as well!
Graphics, UI, audio, design... Totally very cool.
How can you make creation like this?
I’m so jealous.
Oh my goodness, this is actually too nice!
Thanks a lot man and good luck with your game!
I love the art and music. I love the concept too but I would have loved if I you could crank down the speed so at least I can read what the patients are saying rather than clicking at 2 options per second.
Lol, yeah that's been the thing I've been told most so far. I'll make sure to add difficulty settings after the jam that allows more time to read the questions.
I really liked the visual style, animations and concept of the game. I think this game can be developed into something more like Peace, Death.
Thanks! I'm really proud of the art in this game, so I'm happy others like it too!
Great twsit on the teme and cool music.
Thanks! I put a lot of effort into the music and I'm glad to see it's paying off!
Great art style, music and presentation, although I think it's a pity there isn't much time to read the dialogues since it's the fun part. Nice take of the theme. Good work!
It warms my heart up so much that the biggest complaint so far is that you don't get enough time to read the gameplay dialogue; usually followed up by: "Which is a shame because it's really funny."
I swear, y'all are too nice.
Probably one of the most unique games I have seen yet in this game jam. Loved the gameplay and music but I think the game/goal is way too long. But I had fun playing it, I was reading out loud the dialogues and my friends asked me what the hell am I reading XD (I was on a discord call). Very good stuff, well done!
Lol, thanks so much! It makes me so happy to see people enjoying my games so much! I have a few questions though:
1. I think I played until day 15 then I got bored cuz you know it was the same gig everyday.
2. yeah lol I shared screen to them to show what I was playing and they said it looks cool.
The writing and presentation with the UI is very well done, but I wish there was more time to read the answers because they all seem interesting!
I will say, though, it is clearly established in the intro that Katie is a problematic person, and you're playing as her, but I do find it iffy to receive a reward/positive feedback in a game for clicking "Try sexual assault". And I'd maybe even forgive that if there wasn't an inconsistency with that too, because with that logic she'd tell the suicidal person to hang out on buildings instead of avoiding them, but I'm just overthinking it I guess.
I also agree with others that the game is a bit too long for what the gameplay is.
You have a good foundation with how this game is put together and I think you can make great things in the future.
Thank you for the feedback! I understand some aspects of the game's humour and writing may be somewhat sensitive to many people, and I do apologise for that. I obviously don't actually think you should go outside and sexually assault someone after playing my game, and if the player is that easily influenced. then they'd probably be better off not playing video games at all.
With your statement about the suicidal patient, I personally struggle to understand the meaning of your sentence and would appreciate it if you could rephrase it so I can properly understand your criticism and learn from it.
With the whole "game is too long thing", in hindsight, I completely agree. It's either I should've shortened the game altogether, or at the very least added more dialogue segments.
I am wonderfully appreciative that you took time out of your day to not only play my game, but also fairly criticise it. I understand I may make mistakes sometimes, but you have to make mistakes to learn from them. Thank you!
To clarify the confusion broadly, in the intro she is chastised for saying certain things that are the wrong thing to say by her boss. In the gameplay, there are similar choices to say, and the correct thing is NOT to say them.
For example, the suicidal patient. The correct answer is for them to avoid rooftops, and the wrong answer is to tell them to give in to the idealizations. So ok, it seems that we are avoiding the mistakes pointed out in the intro.
That's why I was confused that the correct answer in the Never Been Kissed patient is to tell them to try performing Sexual Assault, when the rest of the correct answers seem to lead to NOT saying the wrong thing.
Does that make more sense now? I can get a little convoluted in explanations.
100% agree with you here. Almost imminently after I wrote my reply I realised what you meant. Katie is manipulatives, greedy, selfish and has almost no redeeming qualities. It doesn't make any kind of sense why she would learn from her mistakes and instead tell a suicidal patient rather than what she had said to the previous patient. Your feedback has been really useful and it warms my heart so much to see people playing my games!
Great game! The colors, music, all of it. I spent the first playthrough just reading the answers (obviously not good for Katie's cash). Very funny.
Thanks bro! Everyone's so nice in these comments and warms my heart so much!
Very fun and polished, great job!
Thanks a lot! I made sure to put a lot of effort into the game's presentation, so I'm glad to see it's paying off!
Very different nice work
Thanks!
Wow, these clients Katie met were pretty unstable. If I were Katie, I would definitely bail after earning a lot of money for the job. =O
While I would've enjoyed the game more if it was shorter, I loved the story and how well-written it was.
Thanks dude so much! It's so touching to see people enjoying my games and writing in this way! You're too nice!
The game is super slick, or better... the dialogues! I love this sick soundtrack. Really a head-bop right there ^^
Very cool idea and smoothly excecuted with nice visuals! Great job!
Thanks so much dude! I worked really hard on the writing, presentation and music specifically this time around so it's great to see people enjoying those aspects!
Overall a good game. The time is too short to read the text, which is a challenge cuz the text is really funny XD
Goodness, y'all are too nice! Yeah the dialogue in gameplay does go by a little quickly, you're right. I didn't change all that because I personally found it more fun to just try and get as much money as possible as quickly as possible. (It gets pretty intense towards the end when the minimum required earnings get to $5000.)
Very pleasing color palette. I do however agree with the other comment that this feels more like a reaction game. It's hard to keep an eye on the story and still making enough money. But definitely one of the memorable entries that I have played so far.
Thanks so much bro! Yeah, the gameplay was designed around "how much money can you get as quickly as you can" with the text kinda just added as flavouring. I probably should have made it more clear what my intentions were with the game's design.
I love the art style. The colours and UI looks great and are put together well. This felt to me more like a reaction game. Would have been nice to not know the correct answer and have to figure it out but that's just me. These people are definitely unstable though. Great job
I did purposefully design the game like that, and I probably should've made my intentions more clear. I personally just found it more fun to try and get as much money as you can as quickly as you can. (I personally thought that gameplay is at it's best towards the end of the game when the minimum required earning gets to $5000 and you end up just barely getting through each day.)
Barely? Even during my earlier days I averaged MORE than $5500-$6000 each day.
Oh, I must be really bad at my own game then lol.
