The idea is really cool and like this paper art more and more after each of your entries.

Kudos for getting something submitted! Haha this is what I feel like when I wake up in the morning.

Developer

Thanks for playing, and sorry to make you relive your morning routine a second time in one day :D

I really liked the style and was excited to hit the road but couldn't get my car to go. Very cohesive and a good use of sounds will def check back and try again.

Thanks for playing and the positive feedback! You didn’t miss anything, that’s just as far as I got with the jam. Let’s see if I make it to another to go further with it.

As always love how the environment is paper and just looks amazing! I can see how the breathing would help due to traffic and bad drivers. I live in a city with just horrible drivers and find myself having to take deep breaths to calm down!

Developer

Thanks for playing! Recently I’ve been driving a bit more than usual (thankfully I don’t have a daily car commute), so it felt appropriate somehow to me to lean in on the feeling hehe.

First off, really love how you used the art and the theme of cars through the rounds this year!
Loved the idea with the alarm showing the time (would have liked some feedback on the "button mash space" at that part, since I had no indication if my massing was doing anything. I applaud the idea of the quick space to get donut, as it does mimic irl situations.

Congratulations on a great submission even with the time constraints! you definitely made me panic with all the breathing XD

Thanks as always for play and the feedback! Good points all around.

For the alarm clock feedback, I had the same thought - originally I was planning to do something like calculate the speed or rate of taps and use that to slow or speed up the handmade animation, but a) didn’t have time to code that, but more importantly b) I feel it still wouldn’t have worked, almost needed something like a more procedural animation to convey some kind of response. I threw my time elsewhere, but totally get in retrospect at least some visual feedback (like a a squiggle somewhere) would have been quick helpful.

Glad you liked the donut/bagel addition! =D And hopefully the slow breathing exercise also helped reduce your panic after haha

Mhm, makes sense!

While reading I had another question: I just noticed how curious it was you decided to make the characters move from right to left out the door.

In addition, the fact you had a small staircase leading to the door was such a nice choice to guide the eyes

Developer(+1)

I’ll admit I didn’t ponder it too closely - but in retrospect, I think it was because I had an implicit “180 rule” in my head. If you imagine the ending camera position of being behind the street-parked car (looking down the road the way the car is facing), and just “pan right” over to a cross section of the house, then indeed the door of the house would be on the left leading to the street.

oh yeah! Makes sense hehe

As with the rest of your games this year, the art style is great. I liked the one button mechanics and would love to have seen more, I get the time running out. Good game.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for giving it a play! Crossing fingers that I somehow scrape by into the next round, had a lot more in mind for this entry for sure.

The one button breathing mechanic is pretty fun and I love the first-person animations. It's unfortunate that there is not much more to the game, but I can see the potential. The artstyle really fits the game with all the scribbled lines and the audio is very good too.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing, and glad to hear you liked the perspective animations. The nice the about making a game about panic attacks is if you do the audio recordings only a couple hours before the deadline, they’ll sound very authentic 😁

I wish it was a longer story, but what you have is super well told!

Developer

Thanks for giving it a play!

Sure, there isn't much, but what's there is super polished. The animations are incredibly smooth, and seeing the hand drawn style in first person this time was incredible gratifying. I'd love to see an updated post-jam version.

Developer

Thanks for playing! Yes, I do hope my decision to go smaller and polished vs wide and shallow pays off 😅 thanks for playing, will see if I manage to move on with this idea after voting

I think you’ve captured the anxious atmosphere really well and having the first person perspective works really well for this. I also love the 3D hand drawn look to your game and the diverse way of using one button

Developer(+2)

Thanks for (already!) playing, glad you enjoyed the first person perspective. In the final hours working on the jam, it felt like a little bit of a risk the extra time into that vs more of the gameplay, but I’m hoping it was a good tradeoff given the theme.
