How does your game fit the theme?
When the time stone gets stolen, the player gets catapulted back and forth through the centuries. Time and Space is out of control! (Even though all art and sound effects were pre-existing, the music was written during the jam. This is my first ever game )

Did your team create the art for this game during the 48 hour time slot?

Interesting game. As I wish there was slightly more to the time travel mechanic, I'm interested for further development. Good job!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for your feedback. I will develop it further to make it a full release eventually. So, keep an eye out for the time traveling pirate ;)

just finished editing the gameplay trailer!

This game is amazing. It's such a simple concept but super well executed!

The only problem I ran into was having some text display over itself, which isn't that big of a deal all things considered.

I would love to see you continue to build on this in the future. I would also enjoy seeing puzzles where the player does something in the past to alter the future.

Great game, good luck on the jam and with your game dev journey!

Developer(+1)

Thank you for your feedback, I'll continue working on this for sure. And more cause and effect between the two timelines is on my list of things that was way beyond the scope of the gamejam but should make it in a future version. Stay tuned!

I'll check your game tomorrow, it's already early morning here now and I need to sleep :)

I actually can't quite believe how good this is for someone's first game! It's looks really nice (even if the assets weren't original, there's nothing wrong with premade assets), it's a really cool concept, and although it was a little buggy in places (overlapping text and at one point being yeeted into the space to freefall endlessly) overall it was a pretty enjoyable experience. I would have loved to have seen some more stuff that involves the fact it's time travel, e.g. changing stuff in the past world affects the future world. Really nice job though!

Developer(+2)

Thanks for playing! Stuff from the past affecting the future is on my list of things that didn't make it into the gamejam version because of the time restraint, but definitely wanna include that when I continue developing it. Stay tuned!

I got flashback to my childhood runescape gaming! Lovely art. Got a a little stuck as the text bugged out (and I clipped through the floor twice), but I had a good time either way.

Developer

Thanks a lot for playing and giving feedback. Glad to hear that you enjoyed it enough to restart it even after glitching through the terrain :)

Loved the graphics! having an indicator for the level swap would be nice. I was looking for a key/lever in one level to open a gate in the other level. The final objective could be clearer.  Overall looks good!

Developer

Thanks for your feedback. Don't stop looking, there IS a lever for the last door :)

I love puzzles games, I love the atmosphere and I love how you interpreted the theme. Collecting treasure one second and being forced back to the future with skeletons attacking you the next really feels out of control.

In the context of the Jam, it has some bugs and some informations aren't very clear but that aside, you have a great prototype that I hope you keep building on in the future and into a full, real game.

Thanks for your feedback, definitely will continue to work on it.

Haha, Mark was so disappointed when he couldn't pick up the treasure on the pedestal :D

I saw it on GMTK stream and got instantly interested. I've seen this mechanic in some games already, but never out of control, so I think you hit the theme quite nice. Good entry!

Developer

Thanks for checking out my game. I will continue working on it when the jam is over, so stay tuned for more relentless time traveling ;)

Very cool concept I liked it a lot !

Developer

Thanks for playing!

I was amazed from your game even before playing by myself (I've seen it on Mark's stream). I've started learning Unity recently too (4 months ago), so I'm impressed with what you've achieved in such a short period... Probably, I need to work more :D It's motivating
Considering the time restrictions and your experience, I'm convinced that the game's execution is solid, original and well polished. The time travel stuff is the hardest to work with, but it's my favorite one, and you did a great job of doing the game around the time. Just let me tell you to keep up making games, because you're already doing an amazing job with them, I loved it :)

Developer

Thanks for your feedback and the encouragement :)

This game is far from over, I'm gonna keep developing it to a final game. Stay tuned!

That's a pretty cool game! I really liked the art style, please keep working on it after the jam, i think that's a cool project!

Developer(+1)

Thank you, yes I will continue working on it after the jam, so stay tuned!

I really enjoyed this, for me the absolute standout was the graphics they were absolutely great! Well done!

Developer

Thanks a lot for checking my game out, glad you had fun.

Really good game, especially for your first! Really liked the concept, and the execution is pretty solid. A couple bugs, and i could figure out how to return the stone, but still, great job!

Developer

Thanks for playing, glad you enjoyed it!

Loved the time traveling concept, and treasure collecting which encouraged exploration and puzzle solving

Developer

Thank you for playing my little game :)

Few bugs here and there as You pointed out... But for a first game this is surprisingly solid! I think it might have been over scaled, but its kind of completed and I can't say this about a lot of my games;)

I think the dashing was unnecessary, I don't know what it did, and I couldn't read tutorial messages at all - something gliched. I think You could - for this jam - end this game with like secret item behind last door that opens upon collecting like 100 coins, with which You can somehow kill those skeletons.

Or there is an ending and I couldn't get to it?:D

Anyway, cool game. Hope You'll continue with it at least to at least have a nice ending.

There is an ending ! The north gate (that is blocked by boulders in the future) can be opened, but I'm not saying more ^^.

Developer

Thanks for playing, and appreciate your feedback. The tutorial texts are a bit bugged out, the dash gives you a few invincibility frames. So you can get away unharmed when you spawn surrounded by skeletons for example. I wanted to give the player something they could do in combat, since - by design -  there is no attack mechanic. Also it's just always fun to be able to dash around a map when you explore.

The ending is behind the last door, you just need to find out how to get there ;)

I always loved time-travelling concepts, so was really happy to find this game. Very original idea and well execution, good job!

Developer

Thanks for playing and your kind words. Gonna check out your game now.

Really liked this one. Super original, great visuals (reminded me of Bloodborne in a weird way), and a great main mechanic. To be honest, as much as it fit the theme, the only thing I could think of was how much better it would be if you had some form of control over your time hopping; I bet there are some really cool puzzles that could come from time swapping like that. That said, I did enjoy the aspect of having to get to a safe place before time hopping, so this isn't to say I thought the randomness ruined it to any real degree. Since the game jam is over, I really hope you continue to work on this in some way because I definitely would like to see more haha

Developer (1 edit)

Hey, thanks for playing, glad you enjoyed it. I think if you could control the time jump it would not be as challenging. The back and fourth is what keeps you on your toes.  Might be an idea for a later stage though to be able to access new areas or have shortcuts. Let's see, I'll definitely continue developing it. Stay tuned :)

Saw this on Mark's jam stream and thought I have to play it. Was great fun to play, simple to grasp but still satisfyingly tricky. Only part I got stumped on was returning the time stone so I thought I had to go back to where I found it but figured it out in the end. Great look, great gameplay, overall great. One of my favourites from the jam so far.
Also did you say you only started learning Unity 3 months ago? Is that including any coding or do you have past experience?

Developer

Thanks Alex, glad you enjoyed my game. Yeah, the story part didn't get enough time in the end. 48h is rough when you have to create double the game level. But I'm taking notes on all the comments here, so I can develop it further. This is shanty is far from over for me :)

I have a background in photography, learned a little java based scripting in university but else nothing really of that sort. Visual scripting is really what propelled me forward, with some extra code here and there for some things like the health containers or the torch light flickering.

(+1)

That was awesome! Super atmospheric and cohesive, lovely visuals and the time travel pacing was engaging - not to often but often enough that your memory of each place developed nicely

Developer

Thank you for playing my game. Glad you had a good time :)
