Ahaha, this was a fun little thing once I knew what I was doing.  Apparently I couldn't figure out for a bit that "on the line" meant put the cookie on the line in the middle and cut it along THAT line - I thought it meant the seam in the cookie.  So I was very confused and like wow I must be experiencing a bug... nope.
However, I did have the problem mentioned below where sometimes my cookie pieces would bug out and I couldn't pick them up or attach them properly.  It was not consistent and did not happen in every level, but in the ghostie level this really messed with me since there were so many pieces T_T
It'd also be really nice to have what the "par" was after every level instead of only if you beat it.  I always enjoy that feature in such games.
But anyway, this was still fun and funny ^_^  Nice job!  Thanks for making it.

Well done. A very polished game. No bugs that I noticed. Also love the puzzles. They feel like that classic cutting up a chocolate bar problem.

i love the concept, and the puzzles were nicely designed! but it was super frustrating personally because for some reason clicks would only register about ten percent of the time. it doesn't seem like anybody else has had the same problem, so i'll assume it's a problem on my end? (i'm on a 2020 macbook pro.)

other than that, i found myself wishing i knew how well i was doing. if there were more specific milestones (for example, getting stars for how well you did, or being able to see how other people did) i think it would help me figure out how much room for improvement there might be.

overall great game, good job :)

I'm on a Mac too, but was not using the trackpad. Maybe that was it ? I have noticed it from time to time, but not in a reproducible way.

I was thinking of showing the target milestone after completing a challenge, or adding a score, but that got cut for lack of time. It will let you know if you did under-par. But I wanted to keep a positive feel, so it doesn't shout at you for using more moves than really needed.

Fun and simple, with some music and a bit of polish this would make a great mobile game!

Really fun puzzle game that I had a blast playing (not just the puzzles, but the art was very visually appealing). The few issues I have with the game have all already been addressed below. Only things I would like is a level select screen or a restart button to re-try certain levels and some sort of fail condition. Theoretically, you can could complete every level by cutting everything into a 1x1 square and filling up the pattern. Rather than just suggesting players to do fewer cuts, maybe implement a maximum cut number (doesn't have to be the minimum required to complete the level) to bring further challenge to the puzzle.

Overall a game I thoroughly enjoyed as a puzzle game enthusiast, and I can definitely see what you mean by "our games went down very similar paths" haha.

Lovely game, really polished! Congrats!

Loved it! Pixel art was crispy, also the gameplay was a lot of fun, and super original! Very very very good job

Very interesting

Good job! I love the sounds of eating cookies at the end of each level. Great gameplay idea.

Nice, I liked the possibility of doing multiple cuts in one go. Also the unmovable bits were an interesting challenge to think about.

Developer(+1)

I think the unmovable bits may have been a bug... But hey, if you liked them as a challenge, they are now a feature ! ;-)

Great job! Really loved playing it. Would love it if it told you what the estimated amount of cuts was each level, and gave you a score at the end!

And here we have a "game that would do well in the mobile market with a bit more polish and touch controls".  The premise and controls are simple, but they combine to create a game that can range in difficulty from trivial to near-impossible. Aside from a developer par system, which only appeared once during my play through, it doesn't subjectively grade you on performance, but tell you the cuts anyways, pushing players to see if they can improve their grade further. I was fairly challenging thinking of the moves I would have to make to fit all the pieces.

One sticking point for me was that, thanks to the game running on an invisible grid, I would accidentally place two pieces too close, and they would stick together, making me waste a cut separating them. The other was the crunching audio, while fitting for a game about cookies, only plays in my left ear, while the delivered cookie is on the right. It makes it feel like the customer picked up the cookie, walked around me, and started eating specifically in my ear. Please either make the audio centered, or if it was an artistic choice, on the right.

You've made a game in 48 hours, that would have taken much longer for me. Good job!

Developer

Thanks for the in-depth review, and the kind words !

I honestly don't know anything about audio, other than how to make it play. :-) I never noticed that separation the way you did though. I'll take another look at that.

Yes, the invisible grid is an issue. I probably should have added some kind of tile/table pattern, just to make things more obvious. But at the very end I was more focused on adding more interesting challenges while I still had the time.

Nice puzzle game. The challenge started to increase when I realised, that if you cut 2 pieces at once, it only counts as one. It was really relaying to play with no time limits, no enemies and so on. It was nice to set up my own challenge, to cut as low as possible, but even if I did horribly, it doesn't stop me playing.

Developer(+1)

Yes, cutting multiple pieces at once is the key to success. But if you just want to take it easy, and make that cookie your way, I'm not going to stop you from having a good time.

Nice puzzle design, well presented :)

Although now I want cookies :P

Developer(+1)

Don't let me stop you ! Grab some cookies ! ;-)

Great idea! I really felt like a professional cookie cutter (pun intended) haha. Nice job, good game!

Developer

Maybe gave you an idea for a new career ? ;-) Thanks for the kind words !

I liked the idea and the aesthetics! also the crunchy cookie sound jaja

This made me go get cookies from the kitchen.  Something about the audio is perfect!  Well done, this is a nice game.

Submitted(+1)

Loved this little game, had me playing for proberbly way too long, SO invested in getting that cookie!!!

Lovely work on a really fun game!

Developer

Thank you soooo much for those kind words !

Nice work, this was really fun! :) Very creative, and I liked the tutorial sections, nicely done! I think a little bit of music could've made it even better!

Very fun, congrats! good idea and the art is super cute and the sfx made me hungry. I also felt cheated when I accidentaly fused two pieces of the cookie I tried to cut at the same time!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the kind words. Yes, the interactions with the cookies can be a bit finicky at times. But then, who can eat a cookie without leaving crumbs anyway ? ;-)
