Wow. This is incredibly polished for a game-jam game. Beautiful graphics and fun puzzles. Really nice.

I think the mac build is broken, I get the below error when I try play:

“GMTK Jam” is damaged and can’t be opened. You should move it to the Trash.

My fianceé recommended this to me, and I really like the art--it's a shame I'm not able to try it :/

Developer(+1)

Aww, that's a bummer. I don't actually own a Mac - so I had no way of testing if the mac build would work at all, I just did the export like "sure hope this works..."
I'll do some research about what could possibly break Godot builds on Mac and respond again if I think I can fix it.

I really appreciate you letting me know! :)

Great music, great sounds, the overall presentation is great
there are some bugs but at the end of the day it is a great entry

Developer

Thank you for the feedback! :)

The presentation and puzzle design are great! Gameplay could use a bit of polish, but, then you have something pretty great here, nice work!

Developer

Thank you!

I think I had a little bug on the last screen before bringing the player home, where one of the switches was suddenly inverted and the left obelisk was coming up instead of going down (not sure if that was a mistake).

Really nice game, I love the art and music and it's a very nice setting and use of the theme. Nice job!

Developer

If I understand your feedback correctly, I don't think that was a bug, but I also might be mis-interpreting it. On the last level, you're basically supposed to invert the left obelisk by unfreezing it while the button is pressed (which, like, "breaks" the cycle and inverts the button's controls) - if that's what you mean?
I don't think I conveyed the "toggle" nature of the obelisks well enough during the previous levels, which makes that final puzzle feel kind of like "I don't know why that worked" (and why it would kinda feel like a bug, heh).

Thanks for playing, and I'm glad you liked it! I really appreciate the feedback! :)

Fun puzzles, and really nice art! I quite liked this one. My only feedback would be to make the movement a bit more responsive (getting past the sign at the end of a level to move to the next one was somewhat frustrating), and to make the ice break a little faster. Good job!

Developer

Yeah, I tried to make the hitbox on the signposts super generous, and adjust the follow speed to the level I thought fit the best, but there wasn't a really good way to get rid of the chance of funkiness on switching levels (at least not one that I could think of), since the game required the main character to not follow at the exact distance of the flame sprite (otherwise the falling boxes would always land on your head, haha)
Maybe I should have just pushed the signposts even further in at the end so that you had even more space to click to get there, hmm - I'd have to think about it some more.

But thank you so much for the feedback! I'm glad you liked it! :)

Cool puzzles! Great job! I would like to get more feedback for each action I do (melting stuff in this case) and also a way to connect very fast which button affects which thing. I always enjoy puzzles that can be "solved in your head" first. Besides that I really enjoyed this one! :D

Developer(+1)

I was originally going to give each button and obelisk a different glow color to indication which ones were connected at a glance, but I just ran out of time, unfortunately!
Thanks for playing my game, and thank you for the feedback! :)

The game looks really good, great job

I really like the art and there are a lot of nice little touches (particles, glow on the sprite and the obelisks, the dialogue the music etc.) that make the game really immersive. The puzzles are nice too, although I think I didn't quite get the last one. Overall a great game!

Really nice art! It's also super polished and the artstyle is great, well done!

This is sooo well made. From the animated start menu to the beautiful art style, everything about this game is so polished. I especially love the cute tutorial/narration at the start. It felt like a dog talking its owner. Very well done by dev

Man...the beauty of simplicity. I just can't think that way. This is my favorite so far. It is a bit one-note, yet the music is enchanting and inviting. There's a warmth despite the cold aesthetic. Each section added a new layer to teach me. I stopped playing because I was jealous lol.

Developer

Thank you so much for the kind words! I really appreciate it! :)

Art is nice, love the title screen especially with the way the characters move toward the play button. I do wish the play button had been a different color than the title though for some extra visual cohesion. The game also bugged out after the screen with two buttons and I couldn't progress, the dev console threw an error about world cords not being generated. I haven't used Godot, so idk how you'd go about fixing it specifically, but I hope my feedback helps a bit. Also, last bit, if you want to make a better music loop, make sure it loops on the beat, and take away instruments every few measures so it doesn't get overly repetitive. Hope to see you in future jams!

Were you playing on Windows?

I haven't had any other crash reports so I truly don't know what could have happened. Never even seen the world coords thing before, haha.

Submitted(+1)

Yep, windows. It's probably some weird issue with the game engine, no fault on you, that's just the price we pay for not developing our own engines! XD

Developer

LOL

Submitted(+1)

A really nice game with cute execution, I really enjoyed the brief dialogue it helped flesh everything out and make you feel invested in the characters! The music was also very pleasant to listen to, I had to send some messages while playing and was genuinely just enjoying listening to the loop

I could definitely see a little bit more polish being added around the edges, but overall things felt and looked very nice! Good use of sound for knowing your progress on the melting blocks :)

Great job!
