This was quite amazing for a jam game! So many characters. I must say that the collision boxes / duplication of the character when crossing over between the two edges of the screen really got me sploded a lot of times. Sometimes I could see the same character on both edges of the screen, and it was just rather confusing XD Just something to be aware of.
The difficulty curve in my first run of the first level was actually VERY high because I was introduced to only a couple of periodic attackers, rather than any of the OP shooters :D But once I started over it really balanced out most of the time and kept things interesting with depending on which ships you had. Really if the screen-edge duplication hadn't been happening I think I would have just kept on playing. Great job!! ^_^

A really quality shump experience, a lot of character captured in just the brief messages you get when each ship joins up, a good difficulty curve, and overall just a really well-made game, very impressive for 48hrs! Great work!
Fun: The gameplay was fun and the amount of content was amazing! The one nitpick I have here is that it was confusing that sometimes you could see something multiple times because of the screen wrap.
Originality: Not the most original game idea but a really smart take on the theme!
Presentation: The audio fit well and the visuals were amazing!
Overall: Wow this game is really great! The amount of content in just two days is staggering.
Wow, the amount of content in this game is massive! The gameplay started to get a lil stale by the end of the first level for me, but once the second hit, it was a blast. Sprite work is gorgeous, and I love how gameplay is also joined together, but with a timer. Fantastic entry!
I'm amazed by how much content and variation you got into a jam game, and by how cohesive everything is! The visual and sound design are spectacular. It's too easy, though, even on hard mode, once you get a couple of companions. I'd like to see more experimentation with the companion mechanic - it'd be cool if, for example, something happened when you flew a bullet between two of your ships.
Yeah, I kept the difficulty down just to be safe, (you can get bad ratings if your game is too hard...) but I'm glad you tried the hard mode. If you need more challenges, try to finish the game with no deaths. The death counter is there to entice people that found the game easy ;)
It really feels good when a bullet flies between two ships, right? :P No idea what I could do about it though.
Not sure what I could add to the companion mechanic. At some point during development, I thought of fusing two ships together with some powerup, but then you would have more offensive power with no drawbacks.
My first addition to a post-jam version would be to add some resistant enemies to prevent the game from getting too easy when you have too many ships and enemies just die before entering the screen. Then having too many ships will become a problem, since it would get hard to avoid enemies and bullets with all of them.
Thanks for the feedback! :)
Cool game, stage 2 was when it started to get fun! I liked the different characters that gave you different powers. the laser and blink explosion was a fun variation from just shooting bullet.
The art in this game was amazing, and it was a really fun experience. I loved how each ally was unique in terms of gameplay. I also really enjoyed the personality in the little portraits and join quotes for each ally.
Absolutely love the visuals! Getting a stacked team felt really good. Tons of fun, awesome job!
Wow! The screen wrapping was a nice touch. I got 2 green laser guys on the last round and they were alternating so I was super powerful. So much fun!
Screen wrap around was a genius idea. Love the big green laser too. Just super fun all around!
Oh I remember you from last year. Wrack and Rune, yes.
The screen wrap was the first thing I implemented luckily enough, I don't even remember where the idea came from. The game would suffer a bit without that mechanic for sure.
It was fun trying to balance overpowered weapons hahah :D Glad you enjoyed it!
Really Fun! I liked the idea of slowly getting more ships to attack the enemy and having the ships continue to move when going to the left or right. Overall a great game to play!
Super cool! Very crunchy audio and visual feedback. Interesting concept and fun gameplay. Great submission all around!
Great job Bonevolt! So cool to see another one of your games! I had a blast with and I really like all the different ships. It's a great twist on the theme and you have a lot of different ships and content for such a short period of time. Impressive! The ship that shoots exploding shots is particularly fun! Great work with this!
this game is amazing!! i always love to see PICO-8 games in jams and I'd really like to start learning how to develop for it haha
insanely polished for a 48 hour game and really fun to boot. great job!!
