Hi! Interesting merge of aesthetics!

As previous players said - improving some elements of the game would definetely be great, like the player's speed or having a more varied arsenal of powerups. I just wanted to notice one more thing - it would be great if there was some kind of visual and/or audio feedback, when the player gets hurt.

Anyway, I liked your game and I think that it has potential with further improvements.

Developer

Thank you so much!

Yeah, the feedback for the player getting hit was on the scope but we just didn't make it (it gets harder and harder to prioritize haha).

First of all that music is amazing :O The presentation is top notch. The tutorial is simple and gives you the basic idea how the game works.

The only negative thing i can say is the players speed. The bugs are too fast compared to player so its almost impossible to survive 30 seconds :/

Other than that i would want to see this game further developed, great work keep it up :D

Developer

Thanks, our artists did an incredible job!

We had a hard time trying to balancing the game and the stages. We decided to go with an impossible main stage to build momentum for the final boss (where you can get used to the controls and pick up some power ups), but at the end we ran out of time for the fine tuning.

Thanks again :)

Great music and great artwork ! The whole theme made me think of Nausicaa of the valley of the Wind (wild guessing that it was your main inspiration, as there's also this mecanic in the movie of dying if you breath the poisonous air for too long).

Maybe power ups could have been more varied (like Downwell for instance). Also it was quite frustrating to not be able to look back and shoot the insects on the ship, and I thought i'd lose if too much of them got on the ship, like a lifebar... In the end I ignored them and finished the game without too much trouble

Developer(+1)

Yes, Nausicaa was one of our biggest influences here!

Regarding the power ups, you're totally right, we would love to add more but ran out of time. About the second stage, we tried to create something that was impossible to beat and just build momentum for the final battle, but it was quite hard to balance haha.

Thanks for playing it and for your comments!

Submitted(+1)

Knew it ;)

Oh that last phase I cleared it rather easily with the double ball power up, as all insects where on the same line. I guess it was intended to be only doable with a powerup, to reward the risk taking ?

Thank you for playing my game too !

Developer

Exactly! The main idea was: impossible middle stage, easy boss (you never want to do a too difficult game on a jam unless you really know what you're doing hah).

Great artwork and music. The idea is good and that you have to get the powerups to but i found it very hard and almost impossible to kill all enemis before they reach the ship and didn't really understand if that did something.  But overall nice work!

Developer

Yeah, that stage is imposible to beat, just the core stage before the boss fight (we had a really hard time balancing out this, that's why it's a bit confusing). Thanks for playing it and for the nice comments!

The art and music came together so well in this, really punchy style!

I'm terrible at shmups but managed to win so I feel like the difficulty was just right :D I also liked how the "tutorial" at the start (before the ship moves) prepped you for that ending battle, really felt neatly bookended.

Nice work!

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much! Adjusting the difficult is in my opinion one of the hardest things to do on a game jam, so yay! :D

Submitted(+1)

Whoa, that art work is great! I really liked the intro and death pictures. The risk/reward for if you can fly out and pick up upgrades or if it would be too detrimental was a nice touch. Good job!

Developer

Thanks! :D

Really cool artwork, and nice comic book style intro.  I wish the game was a little bit easier -- it got a bit hard pretty quickly.  Overall, great presentation!

Developer

Hey, many thanks! Balancing the game was really hard and even if we thought it was ok, sometimes it just depend on your luck (which sucks).

Love the mix of middle eastern and sci-fi aesthetic.

The art is really good, motivates me to try to make a game with non-sprite artwork. Kind of scared of not being able not to pull it off like y'all did.

Developer(+1)

Oh thanks! I think it's a really interesting path to try, there're a lot of non-sprite games even just on this jam. Probably the most hard part is making them feel alive (because animating a sprite is way more easier).

The music and art was pretty good however I was not able to figure out the connection between theme and the game itself. It as pretty fun to play for sometime though.

Developer

Thanks! If you spend too much time outside the energy field of your ship, you died. Also, while you're inside that area, your weapon is way stronger, but you cannot reach any power up.

Submitted(+1)

Wow the music is reaaally good! Good job!

Developer

Thanks!!

Interesting game, I feel like the gameplay needs some work, especially with the balancing and difficultly level, the art and music were spot on though.

Developer

Thanks! Yeah, we preferred to make it easier since we were running out of time and wanted to avoid the frustration.

The art and music were really good.

BTW, Would love for you to try my game too.

It is an Action Platformer with unique controls.

Developer

Thanks! Don't worry, I'll play your game in a bit.

The art style and the catchy music make this game feel great to look at! The game is also fun to play

Developer

Yay, thank you so much! :D

Submitted(+1)

The art is really well done, music too. The game can be a bit frustrating (I was killed one shot even with 5 lives) and sometimes you do not really understand what is going on with the timer and how you lost lives.

Overall the game is pretty fun with insane graphics!

Developer(+1)

Sadly we ran out of time for polishing so there're a few problems with the gameplay, which you faced the most hah. Thanks for playing it!

Submitted(+1)

Art and music are really nice, but I don't like how you need to go through the entire cut scene every time you press restart.

Developer

Thanks! Yeah, that sadly was a last time bug that we couldn't fix :(

Submitted(+1)

The art is killer, but I really love that the bugs cling on to your ship to bring it down. You could bring that a little more front and center. Though, overall this has a visceral feeling of flight that reminds me of Nausicaa and the Valley of the Wind in the best way.

Developer

Thanks! Our artist did a great job on the art and definitely Nausicaa was an inspiration :)

Submitted(+1)

Wonderful music, a real banger :D

Developer

Thanks! Our musician worked really hard on this.

Submitted(+1)

really like the art.

Developer

Thanks!

The art and music are beautiful! I also enjoyed the game, and I like the twist of what happens at the end. That's a clever bit of design! I would've liked a little how-to-play for the controls, either in the game or on the page. Great work!

Submitted(+1)

I forgot to mention that I also really liked  the sound effects, and that the "Play Again" button seems broken.

Developer

Hey, many thanks!

I added some comments about the controls and the play again button (and took a note about that to fix it on the post jam version).

Nice graphic!

Developer

Thanks!
