Cool pixelart and the music slapped!
I liked the mechanics I just wish the controls and camera were a bit better as well as some more player feedback when taking damage, doing damage etc.
Still solid submission!

game idea is great ;but some  bug need to fixed;  ps: art style is great

This game has an interesting premise, but it's pretty difficult to hit enemies while avoiding their attacks, especially since it isn't clear when you get damaged. Also on the level with the big rock enemies, there is a hole in the wall which can let you out of bounds and lead to some interesting situations like this:

I really like the mechanic and the art, also a brilliant realization of a flail (in terms of behaviour and visuals).

However, it is not really clear, when and why you take damage, and there does not seem to be a healthbar for the player, which is somewhat frustrating.

Really enjoy the concept and the art fits really well! But if you continue with the game after the jam I do think it would benefit from having a bit clearer way of showing when you get damaged and how your health work. But overall good job!

BTW throwing those big boulder dudes around was awesome! :D

Developer

Yes! We're well aware :) just ran out of time to add it. Or current thought is to color the the screen/add an overlay, and make the health regenerative, but we'll have to check and see what works best.

This game is really well done (art, music, tutorial), fits the theme, but is not fun. There is something wrong about controls and design, i'm sure you ran out of time (submitted "18 seconds before the deadline"). One level only or procedural level design is a better choice for a jam.

We didn't get the fundamentals working until very late so had no time to add juice or do balance. But I'm sure you'll be happy to know that after many tweaks the new as-yet-unreleased build is much juicier.

This was also our first time working with the Tile Editor so we've learned a lot of lessons that will greatly speed out dev time for the next jam!

Loved the art, music and game idea. Some work needs to be done on enemy behavior.  Overall good experience.

Developer

Absolutely! We had some trouble adjusting to the tools we were using for AI which prevented us from having time to iterate.

You guys did a great job, its a good concept although I noticed that sometimes attack does not work and enemies just instantly attack us and when we get killed there is no feedback that how much damage we took or how many lives are left, but overall for 2 days, it is a great game I think you should continue your work on this game :D

--sorry for the english

I've been hard at work polishing things up and adding lots of feedback :)

The idea, music and art are great! The thing that made it difficult for me to play it is the collision area when attacking and the fact that I don't know if I'm about to die, so it always seemed like I died for no reason. But I really liked the way you used the theme into the game, it's pretty original, congrats on the work!

Good idea and congrats getting your game submitted 18 seconds before the deadline, haha.

Developer

Yeah, we were cutting it real close :D

Nice artwork, I liked the sound effects too.  Great presentation!

Developer

Thank you! I'm too experienced at making pixel art/animation, I believe this is my second attempt. :)

Neat idea! I didn't understand at first why I would want to absorb the enemies, until I noticed that they don't stay down permanently. Did the different coloured bugs have different effects? I felt like there was maybe an elemental type system happening depending on what bug I had attached to my flail but I couldn't quite work it out.

Also, I think binding the camera to the player OR making enemies that can't transition between rooms would be a good addition - it doesn't quite work with both at the same time.

Good work though, had fun with this one!

Developer

Yes, there is a rock, paper, scissor system in the game. We unfortunately didn't get a chance to implement a tutorial or visual indication due to the time constrains.

Thank you : )

Fun concept, really liked it. Levels seems hard to me but it is not a bad thing. Also nice music. Good job!

Developer

Our friend did a great job with the track! :)

Thank you : )

I like this game! Great gameplay! Good job!

Please check my game as well ;)

Cool game, i really like the 'flail-absorbtion' idea.  Keeping the power-up from level to level could help flatten the difficulty curve a bit, the jump in difficulty for the third level is brutal :D

Developer

We did plan to keep the powers across levels especially for the introductory levels, just didn't make it in time!

The second and third levels were thrown together about 15 mins before deadline in parallel by two different people and entirely untested, hence the spike :D

Really cool game!!! It was a little difficult because there wasn't a health indicator, but I got the hang of it after a while. Great job! :)

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing! Yes, sadly we didn't quite have time to implement all of the planned UI! Glad you liked it!
