Love the narrator. I included it in my GMTK compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look. :)
Words cannot describe how much I love this game, it is so clever! xD
Oh my, I don't know where to start, how to organize my toughs...
That was stellar! The humor of the narrator, the reactions of the crowd, the jokes on video games tropes while following them to the letter. Even the music theme feels like a Pixar movie or something. And the atmosphere of a theater fits so well the simple graphics of the game and brings back childhood memories...
I don't know what else to say, it blew me away!
You're too kind! And I tried to make the music as obnoxiously happy but lifeless as possible so it'd fill the space but sink into the background and not overshadow the game, haha.
I'm glad you liked it :)
This was a really charming little game! The short, self aware voiced narration and simple mechanic was entertaining, and by the end I only wished there was more to the story! The style was solid and it was one of the most genuinely funny games I've played this jam. Good job!
This is great! Really gave me some Stanley Parable vibes with the meta narrator, and it's a cool way of controlling a character. One cool thing to see might be to have the boss be another puppet you have to fight, or making the enemies attack in some way, although I definitely appreciate that this must have taking a lot of time as it is.
Short but sweet! Crate Job with this one!
This was super cute! Brought a smile to my face as soon as I figured out the control scheme. I think one thing that would have been nice is some more vertical freedom of motion, though, as I kept trying to make exaggerated puppet walks and just sort of bounced the knights butt on the ground instead. That's a small nitpick, though - this was short, sweet, and funny. Nice work!
It used to be unconstrained vertical movement as well but then you could sequence break the game by flying over all the gates, crates, and goblins and head straight to the final boss, haha. If I ever do a full release, vertical movement will be unconstrained as well and the environment will make sure the player can't escape. Then I can do things like spike pits and sawblades to dodge to help break up the story/combat.
But thank you so much for playing and I'm glad you liked it!
The hilarious narrative was amazing XD. The game reminds me of the Stanley Parable(one of my most favorite games). Although the gameplay was shallow, I enjoyed the extremely catchy music.
This was epic. Such a great game!
All stars from me! Good job! Very short but so fun. I’d love to see this idea extended in to a full game.
I like this style of submission. It was a really well executed concept and full marks for originality. No real challenge to speak of, but hey, its a game jam, and this was a fun experience I'd never seen before, so I'm leaving happy. :)
Three cheers for our capsular hero, and the hero dev behind it! Seriously impressive entry man, I loved the tounge in cheek humor throughout, the whole presentation was fantastic! I made sure to thank my bus driver after too ;) Great work!
Probably one of the most polished and most comedic submissions I've seen, and that was a very cool take on the jam's theme! The cardboard cutouts is a really funny and cute artstyle (Gives me some Legend of Bumbo vibes), and I absolutely love the dialogue and narration. You had such a good use of audio, and the gameplay though simple was quite fun accompanied with the narrative.
Only thing I would suggest would be that the character felt a little bit stiff, and it would be really funny to add in more physics-y movement to it. Though, I do understand that there was a jam time restraint.
I genuinely want to see this developed and released, adding more stories to it and I think people would get really entertained. I love this one, probably my most favourite by far!
Haha this was great! I haven't played a game with a funny narrator in a while. Also it's really cool to see something different like this in a game jam. Great job!
Humorous game, I like the visuals, gives off some theater vibes, I enjoyed it, nice work!
Nice little game, really liked how objects moved around the scene. Got some Getting Over It vibes from the narrator. But I wish there was more gameplay and something challenging.
Very funny game with a well put together art style
This was great! The presentation here is 10/10 really, I love the badly drawn cardboard obstacles! Very charming game.
Very cute and funny little game. I loved the narration and using the puppet to fight. I'd love to see more ways of using the puppet if you took this further. A very fun experience.
Hahah- a joyful time that made me chuckle.
Initially I thought it was moving a bit slow, but all in all it was short and sweet and I had fun janking my puppet around waiting to be told I could move left/right :)
