This game looks really nice! I love that it has a master volume slider also :)

the game is really cool, and the mechanics work, the problem is that when you are attacking with a npc, it last too little because you eventually eat it, so hitting people with it is kinda hard, the presentation is really nice and the pixelart is amazing, good work guys

Cool game, love the visuals! My name complaint is that grabbing enemies often didn't work which was pretty frustrating.

Gruesome! I absolutely adore the aeshetic of this. My only complain would be probably the font used in the UI, it's not very readable. Always prioritise readability in UI fonts :) Other than that, amazing job on everything

Always love games where you play as a villain or monster or something lol. This was really cool and fun. Sucking their blood while aiming them at other scientists was fun AF lol.

Sound design and pixel art were amazing as well. Loved the monster's art as well. I felt that the monster's tentacle was a little too out of place in comparison to the rest of him though. The scientists looked cool as well, loved their sprite for when they were being leached by the tentacle.

My major complaint was that scientists would sometimes get knocked towards me and this would usually always end in an instakill. The tentacle would also sometimes not grab on to the scientists sometimes as well.

None the less, a simple and fun game and a great entry to the jam. My high score so far is 145

Very unique!

Yo, this is insane haha. Creative, intense and gruesome. Very fun.

Using your tongue to grab people and then bash them into other people feels great! That nasty slurping sound also works really well! Great concept and execution!

I needed some tries to grap the concept, but when I got it it is really cool mechanism! Is really satisfying to hammer scientist! Nice little game with nice presentation!

My only complain is that may be needs a better tutorial (but the gif helps a lot)

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing! Yeah I was having trouble figuring out how to show the tutorial, especially when I did it only a few hours before the deadline.

Took me a go to realise I should be swinging people into other people, but I should have realised right away. Really cool mechanic, the crunchiness of eating someone and hitting other people is satisfying! Nice to see something of a different style after so many light hearted chill style games too

This is a well-polished game! We loved the mechanics and the progression with different enemies! Over all very solid!

Also our score was 390, fight us, people in the comments!

This game feels pretty polished and brings me back to the Flash days of gaming for sure! I really enjoyed the juiciness of smacking and tossing enemies about. Just all around a really solid entry, great job!

The one thing I do wish is that enemies got knocked prone when they got hit, just to give you a second or two to react. With the smacks sometimes just launching enemies straight into you and the delay to being able to grab them, you could often find yourself very unlucky and smacking a crows just straight into yourself who would immediately start injecting you.

Really love the concept, art, sounds, and execution though. Great job!

Developer

Thank you for your feedback! Yes, I agree that smacking enemies should stun them. Knocking them straight into you and having them immediately attack is always unfun. As the game goes on it would also help with dealing with the projectile shooting enemies.

Fun, but really hard! I couldn't get past the first stage. I like the flailing mechanic but it was really difficult to control and perform my intentions. It was interesting to have to choose between flailing and eating, but eating felt like it didn't recover enough health to really feel relief from the pressure of naturally losing health over time.

Graphics are amazing and audio fits really well!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the feedback!

Maybe I didn't communicate something, eating always happens when you're holding someone, so it isn't really a choice. I could have demonstrated that better. And yeah, I would have made the grabber have a bigger range so you didn't have to be so precise.

Submitted

OH! That makes so much more sense! When I read "... use them to replenish your health, and flail them around to hit others" I thought it was a choice I had to make. I was able to progress much further after that, and the syringe healing a chunk of health made the progression a smoother as well.

Thanks for explaining! I played again and had a ton of fun!

Fun: Juggling with the bodies and balancing between eating or breaking them feels really good. It was a bit clumsy at first, but I got used to it quite fast. Grabbing the bodies requires a lot of precision and feels quite annoying at times (maybe its a good idea to increase the grab area size). Also, missing an enemy creates a strong negative feedback loop (as the enemies start to pile up and kill you very fast), I think it would be better if enemies died after attacking you (e.g. eaten)

Originality: The swinging/juggling mechanic is not new in itself, but with pushing objects around it feels fresh and original

Presentation: Crisp sounds and blood splashes add a lot to the immersion, also dynamic lights are a nice touch (might have looked even better with pixel normal maps)

Developer

Thanks for your detailed feedback!

You are so correct about the strong negative feedback loop. I think eating is a good idea, but only the first enemy walks up to the monster, the next two shoot at a distance, but there definitely should be something to make it fun to escape that situation.. The grab size was originally bigger, but I made it smaller last minute and now I regret it :C. I found that I was having trouble with the grab area being too bi and trying to grab a specific thing wasn't working.

A very fun concept and the presentation is excellent.

A very weird good looking game I have enjoyed playing it!
Well done!!!

Unsettling, bloody, overall interesting idea

Very very fun! I was able to get 130! It's very fun to uncontrollably swing your tentacle at the enemies and see them fly across the screen, I think that there should be a way to make your tentacle retract a little closer to your mouse since it's really hard to grab more enemies when it's flying all over the place. However,  this is already a super fun game and a great take on the theme!

I managed to score 310! Enjoyable ambience and blooooood! It was a bit hard for me to adjust to that rope, but other than that, it was fun smashing people like bowling pins.
