Double jumps being an expendable resource is an interesting mechanic. The platforming here is super quick, perhaps a bit too quick for the more precise jumping sections. I felt I had good control over the line of chickens, it never felt unfair when they perished to the saw blades. Well done!

Developer

Thanks for your feedback! I agree, I should slow down the movement a bit (also add Coyote Time). Thanks so much for playing <3

I think you're onto a really cool mechanic. It feels a bit sinister to leave my chick friends behind but such is life!

I liked the puzzles you came up with.

It almost seems like you forgot to multiply your movement vector by delta?

Either way I think it's a cool entry, the art style is neat and I like the idea of getting multiple jumps, one per chick!

Congrats on submitting!

Developer(+1)

I appreciate your feedback a lot <3 And yeah, I totally forgot to multiply by delta, thanks for the reminder! Thanks for playing ^^

Nice game! I had a lot of fun playing it. I agree, that the movement speed was a bit fast, but the music fitted well to this speed. The graphics looked nice and the different puzzles were great too. Overall a very great entry.

Developer

Thanks so much for playing and thanks for the feedback! Glad you enjoyed my game <3

Submitted(+1)

Wooooo that movement speed! I was pretty awful at it, though I kept playing despite being sloppy as all heck. Still really really fun. Great work!

Developer

Thank you! And yeaah, sorry! The movement is way too fast haha.

Submitted(+1)

The movement speed and gravity make this game super fast paced, which I can Imagine speedruns being really fun to watch! Unfortunately this fast pace made dying really common, but with the quick respawn and short levels, it isn't too punishing. I think there may be a bug where sometimes chickens die on single jumps which can be frustrating. The main chicken should be distinct from the others, maybe a palette swap or just larger in size. Other than that, pretty fun game!

Developer

Thank you for all the feedback! I completely agree with all of it. The movement is a bit too much. The chicken dying on a single hop is if you run off the platform too quickly, which is far too easy with the quick movement. If I add coyote time (which I'll do if I make a post jam) it'll fix it.

Just finished all the levels. The mechanics of this game are quite interesting. Using your fellow chicken to do a double jump is a really fun idea. All the levels are very well-made and clever. Well done! Nice job for a 48h work! Had a lot of fun!

Developer

Thank you so much! Glad you enjoyed it <3

Submitted(+1)

You should add coyote-time to avoid the player using a double jump just because he jumped a bit too late

(Also you forgot to say to itch.io that this was a windows build)

Developer

Thank you for the feedback! I definitely need to add coyote time.

There we go, fixed. Thanks for the heads up!

You're welcome !

A pretty fun fast-paced platformer. It reminds me of Super Meat Boy. The more jumps you have, the harder it is to hold on to it, making the levels unique and interesting to me.

I feel it's a bit too fast paced. It's hard to be precise on where to land and the fall feels heavy to me. It is also not very related to the theme.

Great game overall. Good job on the game!

Developer(+1)

Thank you for the feedback! I appreciate it. I agree that it's too fast, I def. need to finetune the movement. Glad you enjoyed my game!

Submitted(+1)

Oh wow this was really fast paced! really liked it! The amount of chickens = amount of jumps is really nice even if it isn't most ambitious idea!

Developer

Thanks for the kind words ^^ Glad you enjoyed my game!

Submitted(+1)

Very fast paced and enjoyable.  I think that the main chick should be a different color, or otherwise distinguished; because on one of the middle levels it was down below where the copy chick was at the top on the win zone. I also think giving a little more vertical clearance before death would be nice to help with the platforming. Good job!!

Developer

That makes sense, thanks for the advice! I'll def. put those both in if i make a post jam verison. Also thanks for playing my game! <3

Very good work, congratulations. The level design, the audio and animations are very well done for a 48h jam.

Maybe you could add some extra frames before falling off a platform (as some others said). That would make platforming less frustrating. Anyway, cool idea and easy to understand thanks to the first levels.

I had a nice time overall :)

Developer(+1)

Thank youu! And yeah, definitely ^^ Coyote time would make things feel better. Glad you enjoyed the level design!

Thank you! Super happy to hear you liked my game ^^ I'd like to try to make a post jam version if I can (definitely with coyote frames). I'm a bit behind in my cs class unfortunately cx

Hi GryphShot. Just played your game. I wasn't able to run the game at first but I eventually got it running. The game is quite challenging. I had to make sure that the main chicken is always on the ground before I can jump again otherwise I mess up a jumping chain. I think applying coyote time would make it a bit more forgiving and make the game much more enjoyable. Other than that, it's a good game. The concept is original and the difficulty is well balanced for each level. Good job.

Developer

Thank you! I agree completely with ya, coyote time is needed. Thank you for the feedback!

Reeeeeeaaaally fast paced game! Really good but for me it was mainly trial and error, hoping I would have enough chicken left at the end where I need them rather than actually strategising  and bringing them where they need to be with the proper amount of jumps haha. But really good, I enjoyed playing this one!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the kind words! And yeah, it's unfortunately more actiony and less puzzle than I would like. If I make a post jam version I'd love to have more of both kinds of levels.

Submitted(+1)

I think a good mix of both would be amazing, the fast paced gameplay is really amazing too!

Submitted(+1)

Very frustrating and hard but fun! The music is good and helps me concentrate. The game would seem smoother with some animation for the chicks.

Developer(+1)

Thank you for the feedback! I might add animation for a post jam version? I'll definitely make it easier to control. Unfortunately animation isn't my expertise, I'm down to try it if I find the time though.

Submitted(+1)

Very satisfying sounds !  I am not sure why I am losing one chicken on the second level tho? Like... It just dies when I try to jump over that pit with single jump, send help! :D

Submitted(+1)

Oh, does all chickens have to be on the ground while I jump? Because it seems that when I do coyote jump the last chicken dies, I think it is recognized as double jump ;p

Developer

Thank you for the feedback!

Only the main chicken has to be on the ground, but yeah, unfortunately I wasn't able to add a coyote jump in time. If I add a post jam version this will be one of the things I add.

Cool concept, really hard though. I actually couldn’t beat the game although I did make it a fair way into it. No idea how many levels there are in total.

The controls feel alright but they’re a bit finicky, and for a game that demands this much from the player they would have to be flawless. Currently it seems to take away chickens for no reason sometimes if you go fast (things register as double jumps when they shouldn’t), or something strange like that. It’s kind of tricky to reverse direction accurately with how fast the chicken moves, but it’s required to beat some levels. I guess the acceleration would need to be higher or something to make it feel even snappier.

Visually I like the style, it’s simple but charming. The VFX and SFX are cool and add a nice bit of pop.

Overall, it’s a pretty enjoyable experience – good job!

Developer

I appreciate the feedback a lot! If I work more on it I'll def. try to improve the movement, add coyote time and what not so jumps are more forgiving. Glad you enjoyed my game!

Submitted(+1)

I don't usually like platformers, but this one really got me. I loved the concept and the controls just feel right. Well done!

Developer (1 edit)

Thank youu! Super happy you enjoyed my game ^^

This is so wacky and cute at the same time. Love the fast paced, punishing platformer.

Controls are very slick but have that teeny weensy 'slidy' feel that gets in the way of more precise movement. Still managed to get to the end eventually, had fun while doing it!

Well done!

Developer

Thank you so much <3 Glad you enjoyed the game, I appreciate the feedback!
