This game was quite challenging! I enjoyed the level design and had fun with the mechanics, but the shadow enemy was a bit too much for me. I think it might be cool if using moves like the dash or the faster fall pushed you ahead of the shadow enemy and gave you an advantage. This was an impressive little game, I'd love to return to it and continue my attempts to escape the shadow's wrath. Good job.
Really reminds me of celeste! But this was done pretty well still! Enjoyed this!
Love the idea, and great aesthetic but I did struggle a bit! My favourite level was the Labyrinth as I liked the multiple paths - it felt more dynamic leading your shade
Cool game! This reminded me of the level from Celeste. Echoing other's comments, I think increasing the time between the shadow and player and decreasing the play loop time (the time from when the player dies to when they can play again) would make the game easier and more accessible.
Really cool idea and matches the theme perfectly! It's probably too hard for me, I only managed to finish the tutorial level after playing the other levels maybe 30 times without getting anywhere near the end of any of them. I would also agree with a lot of the feedback and give some more time between the player and shadow.
Maybe also shorten the death sequence since it's going to be happening a lot :D Found myself getting annoyed when I had to select the level again and again.
Overall really good game, good job! :D
I really liked the idea but I think the distance between player and shadow is too short, for me game is extremely difficult. Also I think death and restart should be faster for this kind of game because it mostly felt very frustrating.
If you were aiming for this kind of a rage game then you definitely achieved this.
Loved the art style and concept!
For me the very short distance with the shadow, the precise jumping required, the absence of checkpoints and long restart made it not really fun to play. But this is only small tweaks that can easily be improved, would love to see future development of the game
Nice game, definitely difficult. I knew when I was getting killed on the tutorial level I was in for a challenge. Overall great execution, some ominous music would add a whole new dimension.
Game is cool. I would only change the distance that the shadow keeps from the player and add some music to chill while you are dying over and over.
I liked this games a lot, it's a great concept! Reminds me of one of the last stages of the first Rayman game. Maybe a bit too difficult, I think giving the player a bit of an edge at the start would balance it a bit more. Very good!
So this is basically that one part from Celeste, but instead it's the entire game? Hey, that actually might be a cool idea! Yeah, I'm all for it. Unfortunately, this game has some issues I've noticed. The controls feel stiff, an issue that definitely needs to be fixed. The game also requires precise jumping, and the shadow follows very closely. I feel like it would be better if it was just one or the other, rather than both. Combined with the stiff controls, it makes it hard to pass even the tutorial. And when you die; you see a drawn-out game over screen, and then the menu screen, and then it's back to the start of the level. You should make the game over screen shorter, and add check points.
A great idea, but definitely in need of some polishing. Still, nice work!
Hi mvn!
The main mechanic of your shadow chasing you is really terrifying. And that tag line - Can you outsmart yourself? The answer should be a resounding yes, but I couldn't get past the tutorial level. So I guess I am not smarter than... me?
I think it would be really cool to add in some obstacles that only you can pass through and your shadow must go around, or some other way to slow it down in the earlier levels, so the player can get used to how the shadow behaves before being thrown to the wolves.
I would love to see this game fully fleshed out with sound. I could imagine the tempo of the music getting faster as the shadow draws near...
Great start!
Best,

Amazing concept, loved it!
Surprisingly difficult but also fun! A quicker death/reload time would be good though.
I love the tension in this game! Really intense the way it keeps coming for you! Reminded me of one of my favorite moves called It Follows! Great Job!
Super cool! It really is a puzzle game chaining the right moves together and making it through. The concept is original and the game is well built and tough.
I only wish it restarted automatically because I died a lot... And would have loved some music!
Thanks for the feedback!

I like the concept that player is chased by his shadow. This game is quite hard for me to enjoy the whole level. But I think this game is full of potential.
Player keeps shaking while moving. Might related to the collider and rigidbody.
The core mechanic is pretty interesting and it's fun to try and pick a route knowing that wherever you go, danger will follow. The controls are pretty neat as well, especially the dash action which can lead to some close calls with the shadow as you dash out of the way. Definitely ties the game together quite a bit.
However, I'm not a huge fan of how long the death animation takes, as well as how it brings you all the way back to the start screen. I might just be bad but considering how often I died it felt a bit frustrating to have to wait so long to retry.
It's not half bad for the time frame though and definitely an interesting interpretation of the theme!
Pretty fun mechanics and concepts. A few points though:
- The jump is a bit floaty and it's difficult to land and jump again without the shadow catching up. This could also be helped by increasing the delay between you and the shadow, seeing as the shadow is pretty much right behind you.
- The death animation is way too long and it's frustrating having to go back to the main menu each time you die. For a challenging platformer it should be a quick death animation with the player immediately restarting at the beginning of the level (think Celeste or Super Meat Boy)
Good work overall, the mechanics and the level design look promising.
