Very Nice and interesting game,
The idea and concept is very cool
A bit glitchy, but otherwise undoubtedly the most creative and best presented game of the jam so far! I had so much fun creating wild headlines!
This is ridiculously creative--I had so much fun trying to piece out what to say in each scenario. If you ever expanded on this concept, I'd love to see varied reactions based on what you put down - sometimes I was able to create really funny sentences, and even if they weren't the right answer, I can imagine some funny reactions resulting. The high-quality visuals of the newspaper and simplicity of interactions can't be understated too-nicely done!
Glad you enjoyed the game! We have roughly 30 accepted answers and 4-6 different interpretations/pictures for each sentence, but unfortunately we couldn't catch all of them by hand! If we do expand the game we'd definitely put more time into expanding that list. Thanks for your kind words!
Oh wow - will have to play a couple more times through to catch them all, I didn't realize. Awesome stuff!
Thanks! There's also a walkthrough in the description on how to get the three different endings.

Scientists are cut in half, geese likely at fault!
The polish is obviously pretty goddamn insane, both the art style and the music, did you guys took inspiration for the game from The Republia Times?
There are a few issues with the games though, a lot of combinations that feels like they should have resulted in special responses doesn't. You can glitch out the music by pressing mouse 1 before the camera gets to zoom into the recruitment ad, and how the game calculates what is considered 2 censor bars is glitchy, I was able to censor the entire first headline with both 1 censor bar (through dragging through the entire thing) and 2 censor bars (by dragging from the first word to the middle of the sentence, then dragging from the last word to all the rest of the words).
Also, the game is not long enough, give me more goddamn it.
Edit: forgot a word
Thanks so much for the review, I actually haven't seen The Republia Times before, but it looks like a cool game! We mostly looked at old-time newspapers and collages.
We were really cramming toward the end, and we had to hand-pick each combination so we must've missed some, sorry if you had difficulties. And yea there should be more tutorials as well, time wasn't on our side though. Thanks for playing :)!
I loved this. The aesthetic was just perfect and the themes were great. Please make this a full game.
My only criticism is that it took me a while to realize that you can censor two sections of words, not just two words. That might just be on me though.
Interesting submission, I like the aesthetic and the different endings were fun. Music glitched out for me unfortunately but aside from that it was a good experience!
This is a masterpiece! Great visuals, audio, and gameplay. I like that there are multiple routes, but it felt that most times my use of censorship did not produce any result, which I was bummed by. Excellent work with this one!
I loved it!!!1
Please, keep you children at home!!!
Cool idea with nice implementation. And also polished, I liked it a lot :)
I loved this game! I would totally play a full version!
This game looked really good. I have no idea if I played it "correctly" but it was fun for me lol!
There is no correct route! There are 3 endings though depending on how you decide to do your job, thanks for playing!
I loved that game, definitely one of my favorites so far! Would love to see some more, ended too soon ^^
Sure, the game is wonderfully creative, well writen and beautiful. But I want to draw your attention to the sound design.
The song chosen is generic enough to be toned out, while also being good enough to not be irritating. Making great elevator music. Additionally, either by chance ir design, there seem to be typewriter noises on every beat. This makes the perfect atmosphere for a game about working a menial editorial job.
Amazing game all around.
Thank you!! It's a very old public domain recording of "Habanera" with additional instrumentation and typewriter percussion as you noticed. There are also 4 versions of it so that it gets more and more layered as you progress!
That sounds really cool, could you link the recording
Yeah! Here's the recording: https://www.loc.gov/item/jukebox-133941/
I also uploaded the game version here: https://soundcloud.com/willowpet/maquina-habanera
Hilarious, polished, and simple to understand. Everything from graphics to relation to theme are fantastic. My only complaint is I wish it was longer, and that's saying something.
This was a fantastic experience! The presentation was fantastic and the gameplay very fun! I would love to play a full version of this! Congratulations!
wow, very creative take on the theme! it's very nice there are multiple stories you can make from erasing words. i didn't get the pesticides one, and i agree with millstone that i think the ending is bugged. but overall very nice and funny with well crafted sentences.
it would be nice if you could go back to previous things to "re-censor" them, instead of having to restart the game
The ending isn't bugged, try erasing some of the words ;)
ok i'll try that
We've also just put a walkthrough in the description if you just want to see the endings/get to the credits!
oh ok, i'll look at that. btw i got the scientists pesticides geese one "scientist population cut in half, geese at fault"
ah i see, i was trying out "contrarian press succeeded" and similar things
absolutely love the gameplay and vibes of the game, if you made this a full game i would buy it in a heartbeat
not sure if the ending is bugged, the submit button is disabled on purposed, or i'm just dumb lol
The ending isn't bugged! Some combinations of words will unlock the credits 👀
oh? will definitely try it out again when i wake up then!
Thanks!! We also just put a walkthrough in the description on how to see all the endings.
