Phew, I managed to rate this in time!

This is really creative! I love how it turns Snake into more of a puzzle game, and the atmosphere is top-notch. Enjoyed this a lot---good work.

really good principle, the levels are really nice ^^

A fascinating game!
For the first ~10 levels or so, I thought that this was a game with an idea that just didn't work out because it was easily "cheated".
But after that, the game really picked up, and was pretty fun!

Also, really nice music and art!

Well-executed, solid concept that could be fleshed out into a wide variety of clever and challenging environmental puzzles. Hits the "easy-to-learn, hard to master" sweet spot for me. Nice minimalist presentation as well. Great job!

A cool twist on the snake game with good graphics and music/sounds. The music felt kinda dark-ish though, but I liked the thing when it said "snake", kinda cool.

As for the gameplay, I enjoyed it quite a bit. I liked how it is hectic but you have to strategize or otherwise it won't work. The snake movement wasn't always as predictable as I'd like but the levels were fair enough for that to not be a huge problem.

Great entry!

Oh boy did I love this. I love how it's both an action and a puzzler, I love how it manages to still feel like Snake mechanically but with Sokoban mechanics added on top of that, and I love how from a pretty simple ruleset comes pretty complicated results. There are a lot of cool levels in here too; it's most satisfying when the puzzle has the simplest elements (least artifice) yet is surprisingly hard.

Awesome take on the Snake twist! Was very fun to play and it had me thinking a lot on how I could make the snake lose. The final level was very hard but I literally cheered the moment I could beat it. Really nice music, cool looking visuals and solid gameplay. Excellent work!

Developer

Thank you! The last level is my favorite by far, but golly does it take some work :)

Very entertaining, I enjoyed it a lot and it looks very good

this is one of the top games for this jam imo

it only needs a more obvious introduction to the game mechanics for dumb ppl like me lol

5/5 )))

Developer(+1)

That's high praise, thank you! I also like Half Life 2

Submitted

I like this take on snake it feels different enough that it doesn’t just feel like you’re still playing snake. I also like the aesthetics of the game.

Cool, Nostalgic hit to that aesthetic snake game, Good implementation of Reverse Mech Snake game.

This was fantastic!!!  Really good use of the theme -the music and the sound design was top notch -really liked the apple crunching sound when you get eaten xD   The graphics were great and tons of really fun puzzles -amazing work! :D

Developer(+2)

Thank you! A lot of apples were hurt to record that sound. It was important that we capture that primordial death rattle to fully submerse the player in their second life as an apple and have them know that this is the end. Some players even reported seeing the light at the end of the tunnel after playing for extended periods of time. Some have met the Creator.

:o ...I... I- had no idea -I don't want to be a crab about it but those methods sure are rotten to the core  -not very a-peel-ing.  Then again, really have to apple-aud the commitment to good sound design! xD

I really liked the seed planting feature it added another layer of strategy to the game! Your art has some great charm as well! Very well executed stuff here

Submitted

Interesting implementation of the reversed snake, i have seen a lot of games with this concept but this one stand appart because you added more features like the seeds. Well done :)

Submitted

Interesting concept and well executed! I absolutely adore the style so kudos on that!

I had a similar idea going into the jam and I'm glad I didn't go through with it, because you straight up nailed.

One bug that I noticed is I really often got stuck in the wall when pressing two keys at once

Developer

Thank you! When two buttons are pressed at once the game should default to discard all but horizontal movements, it was either that or diagonal movements which would be cheating.

The music for this game is great and I like how it says "snake" and the sound effects are great. The way of defeating the snake is also fun to execute by trapping it and the pixel art looks great. Great submission well done. :D (what type of apples do snakes prefer?)

Hey xelinium, just a heads up that I don't think your game is showing up under your comment like everyone else, probably because you weren't added as a contributor to it.

Thanks for the heads up! Our submitted game should display below our names now. (Although rip, for the first 2 days, our comments didn’t display our game >T w T)> )

This game successfully combines puzzle and action together. Also feels very polished. Great job!

Also, I made a similar game about 2 years ago, you can check it out if you want (https://llesha.itch.io/snail)

Thank you! I like your take on the idea as well, especially the little top down tomato :)
