Great little game from the Jam. I really like the art style chosen for this one! High score: 49240

We appreciate your kind words and we like that you liked the game

Wow this is crazy good!  Great classic arcade feel, & it gets pretty tough to match.  I really like the implicit strategy of avoiding shooting a ship in front of you for a chance to get to the back row.  My high score is 38140

Developer

The grace of this idea is to play also strategically to be able to have some time of pause to be able to not be the hunted all the time.

I invite you to keep trying to improve your score. It is quite entertaining to try to improve it little by little.

Very cool idea! I could see this being an interesting dynamic for a multiplayer game. Things got real hectic when the 3rd level was introduced. My one suggestion would be to turn down the rate of fire from the enemies in exchange for a couple different types of AI from the ship. For example: one type could home in on the player while would would sporadically change direction. Great work.

Developer

That's another point of view in which we could steer the game. Thanks a lot for the feedback, we will take it into account for next updates.

Great art style! Fun game! Having some indication of when your dodge is ready (unless I completely missed it) would be helpful though.

Developer(+2)

thank you! yes, we thought about adding it but we were on a tight schedule. we plan to add it when the jam is over, along with other improvements that we are already preparing. By the way, if it helps, the cooldown time between dodges is 3 seconds :)

by the way, what score did you get?

Submitted(+1)

I think I got around 45000, though that was my second try after dying much earlier on my first try xD

Submitted(+5)

This game is really fun! , I can find myself sinking some time into it. I love the classic retro design.

Developer(+2)

Thanks m8 glad you've enjoyed it! Feel free to share your best score

Oh man, I love it! Really unique take on the theme. Its super addicting, you really crafted a unique classic arcade experience. The idea here is brilliant. Graphics are top notch for the genre, they really give off that old console feeling. Tight scope, extremely polished, absolutely wonderful delivery.

Amazing job. This is one of my favorites.

Developer(+1)

man I'm gonna cry, thank you, we loved your game too <3

we are glad you enjoyed our game so much

how much did you score?

Submitted(+1)

No problem at all. This is a super strong entry.

I was only able to just barely eclipse 30,000, but that was after many tries lol. The level 2 with the 3 lanes is no joke. Does it expand further after that?

Developer (1 edit) (+2)

Nope, It is already coded but not currently implemented,  there will be a mayor update in the future, stay tuned 😉

Submitted(+3)

Super nostalgic graphics! Good stuff.

Developer(+1)

Thank you for playing the game! We hope you enjoyed the concept. What score did you reach?

Original idea. Pretty well executed. It's polished and challenging. Great job.

Developer(+1)

Nice idea ! it's a fun way to inverse the roles :p It also feels polished as well, which is always nice to see ! Congratulation to all the team !

Developer (1 edit) (+2)

Thank you! we have done our best to make the game as polished as possible, we really appreciate your kind words <3 how much is your score btw? send us a screenshot!

Submitted(+1)

I did not took a screenshot sadly, but my highscore wasn't that high I think haha x)

Submitted(+5)

Wow! Really cool interpretation of the theme.

The surprise and "oh shit" feeling when you have to dodge attacks from two ships!

Amazing game!

Developer(+2)

Thank you very much, we were looking for a change in the mechanics by giving that constant change of role. The most noticeable is when there are two ships.

Submitted(+3)

Great job!! I loved the mechanics!

High Score: 93810

The constant switching of positions is not only an awesome mechanic, but a great way to create pacing. As you get closer to the enemies, their attacks get harder to dodge. It builds anticipation before you can get to the bottom row and unleash damage as fast as possible before you switch back! And there's also the fun scenario of being sandwiched between two enemies, so you have to dodge while also trying to get shots in on the guy on top.

My one complaint is that I wish the difficulty increased faster. It took quite a while before I started taking more damage than I was gaining in health.

This was a lot of fun and I think this has a lot of post-jam potential with new enemy types added. Great work!

Developer(+2)

Thanks so much for the feedback! We really appreciate you taking the time to play and analyze the game. It is true that the difficulty stagnates at some point. At first we had planned a phase with 4 rows, but time was not on our side. But we could add something like increasing the rate of fire and the speed of the enemies as time progresses :)

By the way, congratulations for the score! You have surpassed me haha

Submitted(+4)

Love that you switch from player to attacker!

Dodge is a little finicky, wish there was a timed meter to show when you can dodge or not.

Other than that great job!

Developer(+1)

During the jam we thought about adding it! But we didn't have time, we will do it in the future. Thanks for your time and for playing!

Submitted(+4)

Strong one retro arcade. Stylish art, atmosphere music. And a cool idea of lines that can be swaped. Well done!

Developer(+2)

thank you!!! we work a lot on the final visual result!

Submitted(+3)

loved the idea and visuals, great work!

Developer(+1)

thank you for playing!!

Submitted(+4)

You had some really good ideas here! Having more than 2 rows is great, and the enemies can even pick up the upgrades!

Fun game, nice SFX and visuals, Good job! :)

Developer(+2)

This is so cool! Love the original idea, the visuals and gameplay!

Would be cool to implement mouse controls, at least allow shooting with mouse as well.

Developer(+2)

Thank you very much for playing it! We are so glad you enjoyed it. We always do quite a bit of work on the games after the jam (this is our fourth year). We plan to add support for controller, mouse and even android build :D
