this is one of my favorite puzzles of this GMTK! so neatly executed, i love the concept and your art style. got me a little time to get used to the controls, but after that the experience was very nice :)
I'm glad you liked it! Thanks for the kind message :)
Cool concept, good game.
Thank you very much :)
I really liked that you took the different words of the theme "Built to Scale" separately, I haven't seen something like that before. As for the game itself, it was alright, however it was very stressful for me since I really didn't wanted to fall down, and it definitively ask you to do a foresight in order to progress. The switch part was cool and it further renforces the foresight idea.
Thank you very much for the message! And I'm sorry you found it stressful, if you have feedback about that I'd like to hear it :)
Interesting system, with fun puzzles and good difficulty curve. Let me be a bit nitpicky thought. A bit fiddly when taking into account parity of the snake. It felt somehow that you could climb almost any height with a single snake of combined yellow and red blocks, by going step by step repositioning everything. I also would have loved a different input system for climbing (just pressing up and down for example), as well as the player always centering to a cell when building (it does that the first time you build, but not the rest). Apart from that very nice art and visual polish.
First of all, thanks for playing!
Second of all, I really appreciate the feedback. When it comes to controls and repositioning the player, I was going to update the game once the voting period was over.
I am aware of the "infinite climb" exploit during the lever puzzles, because it came up during playtests... Putting mountains to reduce the vertical movement discouraged playtesters from focusing on that solution, while allowing it if they got stuck. I counted on the fact that during a second replay, they would've noticed the correct solutions, using way less blocks than their previous solution (and feeling smart during both playthroughs).
That said, I see what you mean and I'll keep your feedback in mind for the future. Thank you very much for everything :)
Really great experience, fun puzzle solving that feels rewarding, good sound and style to boot. Music is a little repetitive, but all in all lots of fun.
Thank you! I'm glad to hear you liked it :)
Great game, really love it! Congrats, one of the best Pico 8 games I've seen- and made in just four days!!!
Thank you so much for the support! I'm happy you enjoyed the game :))
Really great game. Simple but effective puzzle design, and with lots of levels too!
Thank you very very much!! :)
Fun game with a cool unique mechanic
Thank you for playing, happy to hear you liked it :)
Really nice puzzle game, had a lot of fun with it
We both created scaler bot games, I see! Regardless, I'm glad you had fun playing :)
A fun neat game. Really love the pixel art and music
Thanks for the kind words! :)
SICK GAME! I'm a puzzle aficionado so this + pico8 got me immediately hooked. The only question I have is: how were you able to put up so many levels? (just to make it clear, i want more)
Every level is painted on a map, so I simply had to edit them by drawing. I preferred having a simple concept to teach gradually to players! There could've been more things to teach, but time was short.
That said, all this was possible thanks to all the playtesters: looking at them and knowing what they struggled with and what they liked helped me create new maps :)
A really cool and uniqu game with great music
Thank you for the kind words :)
I really enjoyed the game. Somewhat reminiscent of Celeste, but Celeste is more about the reaction, while here, from what I saw, there is more emphasis on the puzzle. Good job.
Thank you! I tried to make it distinct, but I felt the Celeste vibe as well when I colored the ground blue x)
That said, I'm happy you had fun :)
What can I say. This game has a really solid mechanic, and it's iterations are implemented extremely well.
I never felt stuck when I played it and it was incredibly fun to play! I wish there were extra levels, but it was 4 days so. Good job!
This is very interesting and fun! One thing I think could make the movement a little better would be if you could just scale up walls without having to press the X key to enter scaling mode. I really enjoyed this!
I get that! I'll keep your feedback in mind to update the game when the voting period is over. Thank you so much for playing! :)
Beat the game, absolutely wonderful. Took me 22 minutes and 2020 blocks. Probably only took that long due to the 3rd to last level, the second part had me stumped for a while but I figured it out eventually
Thanks for playing! I'm glad you liked it :)
Puzzling the player is the goal of puzzle games, what matters is you were able to figure it out!
By completing this game i found love... beatiful. Jokes aside well done the game is amazing and very charming, i love it !
Thank you for playing, till the very end! I'm glad you enjoyed it :)
The art is amazing.
The ideia is pretty cool
I like the levels, but the controls felt a little bit too difficult and counterintuitive.
One idea that came up as I was playing was to use the wasd for the character and arrows for the blocks. Not sure if would actually be better, but I was curious.
Anyway, congrats for the submission
Thanks for playing, and for your feedback!
Unfortunately, PICO-8 is made like a Gameboy/NES with minimal controls (arrow keys, A, B) but I suppose that if I could add more inputs it would be better
Thank you once again :)
Oh, I didn't notice the control limitation. Considering that you did an amazing job.
Once I got the muscle memory of changing between character and block, the flow of the game was great =)
Really enjoyed this game, it's great!
I'm glad you liked it! Thank you for playing! :)
It always amaze me to see Pico-8 games with such a high level of polish!
The puzzles were really clever, and everything in the gameplay was simple and intuitive.
Wonderful job!
PS: I didn't stop at the result screen ;)
