Such a nostalgic game with the visuals and music! Loved the little parachute, so cute 🪂
This really kept me hook. About 3/4 of the way through I kind of kept thinking “well just one more level” until I finished all the levels. I figured out later on that you could just snake the platform up and climb it little bits at a time to gain height and skip some of the puzzles.
Wow! awesome gameplay, the controls are very intuitive and tight. Music and art is great! Love the concept, and the name is a great pun hahah. The other controls that were listed as an alternative didn't work on my computer, that's the only input I have! Enjoyed this game so much!
Awesome! It was a very fun puzzle game that was a platformer but also had snake elements.
What an adorable entry. Adheres to the theme nicely, and is a pleasure to play. Really good work with the presentation, a standout for sure!
This game is excellent, from the mechanics that align with the jam theme, to the sound effects and art.
It's the best among those developed in Pico-8.
Congrats!
Yoo fellow robot with limited movement that can only progress by changing the level design-er!!!
Just wanted to say this game is pretty great, it stumped me quite a few times trying to get the snake in the right orientation with the blocks where I wanted them, and overall it's quite a quality time. The only issues I have is that I'd like an undo button, namely for when you move the snake by a single block too far and have to redo everything again, but also because you're forced to reset if you move the snake into a place where it can't move anymore. The inputs also felt a bit unresponsive at times, not sure why, i'd just input to move or climb and it wouldn't happen on occasion, and I feel climbing might be better if mapped/mappable to pressing up instead of being a separate button, since that'd make it a bit easier to get the hang of. Other than that, very cool game, would love to see a full version with more block types!
Hey! Thanks for the heads up, I'm glad to hear you liked it overall :)
I planned on having an undo button, but I cut that because I never did that and should've figured how to do it from the ground up. Now that the jam is over, there's lots of time to learn and update the game! So, thank you very much for your feedback!
Fellow snake climbing puzzler!!!
Phenomenal puzzles; from the elegance of the level design, it's clear that you playtested these meaty levels well! I played the first half of the game holding the Scale key instead of tapping it, which meant that I was playing hard mode and only able to climb 1-high blocks! (...now I'm imagining you get an upgrade that lets you scale higher halfway through, hehe..)
It was a bit awkward to switch the parity of the snake at times (sometimes easier to just restart the level). I think if you throw on your own sprites and music you'll have a super polished game already (:
Thanks for your fantastic game! Loved the reward screen <3
Thank you very much!! Your game was amazing, so your message means a lot to me!
I can try to change the sprites to give a distinct look to the game, thanks for the feedback! When it comes to music, unfortunately, I'm not a musician, so I'd better rely on someone who knows what they're doing.
Congrats on your game :)
I really liked that you took the different words of the theme "Built to Scale" separately, I haven't seen something like that before. As for the game itself, it was alright, however it was very stressful for me since I really didn't wanted to fall down, and it definitively ask you to do a foresight in order to progress. The switch part was cool and it further renforces the foresight idea.
Interesting system, with fun puzzles and good difficulty curve. Let me be a bit nitpicky thought. A bit fiddly when taking into account parity of the snake. It felt somehow that you could climb almost any height with a single snake of combined yellow and red blocks, by going step by step repositioning everything. I also would have loved a different input system for climbing (just pressing up and down for example), as well as the player always centering to a cell when building (it does that the first time you build, but not the rest). Apart from that very nice art and visual polish.
First of all, thanks for playing!
Second of all, I really appreciate the feedback. When it comes to controls and repositioning the player, I was going to update the game once the voting period was over.
I am aware of the "infinite climb" exploit during the lever puzzles, because it came up during playtests... Putting mountains to reduce the vertical movement discouraged playtesters from focusing on that solution, while allowing it if they got stuck. I counted on the fact that during a second replay, they would've noticed the correct solutions, using way less blocks than their previous solution (and feeling smart during both playthroughs).
That said, I see what you mean and I'll keep your feedback in mind for the future. Thank you very much for everything :)
Really great experience, fun puzzle solving that feels rewarding, good sound and style to boot. Music is a little repetitive, but all in all lots of fun.
Great game, really love it! Congrats, one of the best Pico 8 games I've seen- and made in just four days!!!
