Fun game with a really good artstyle. I managed to get 4th place! Unfortunately, the very detailed paralax background made it really hard to see the enemies and especially the rocks, and since there's i-frames when you get hit I ended up just not trying to dodge at all and just go straight for the coins. You should take cues from bullet hell games, where the bullets are very bright and distinct so that its fair to dodge while still being difficult. Adding a white outline to enemies and obstacles would probably be a good way to start. I think the shrinking mechanic would work better if there wasn't a meter, or at least it was longer, because there's already the trade-off of it being harder to get coins, and since its so hard to dodge enemies already it isn't super useful. I'd also make it a bit easier earlier on, and add some indicator of how the difficulty is scaling over time. Despite my criticisms, its still a very well made game!

Developer

Thanks a lot for the detailed feedback. The team already took into account the problems, but still is good to know that the rest of the game in enjoyable.

Oh man, it’s one of those games that messes up with my vision after I stop. I like how it plays though even if it’s a bit on the short side. Also, you guys are a whole army, damn :D

Developer

Yeah, ahaha. Doing a jam with such a big team is an experience on its own.

Wow, i loved the game, the parallax effect adds a lot!! The pixelart is awesome! GG

Developer(+1)

The parallax effect is the GOAT for sure 😹

Great game with a nice tutorial to show the ropes. Having the leaderboard is a nice touch.

Developer

Thanks. We tried to give as much engagement as we can.

Finally, a fun game! I mean, this game prioritized having fun which didn't seem to be the primary focus for too many games I've played so far this jam. Very simple and intuitive to play. Solid art, actually seems like there is very good art for this game lurking on the game page that maybe didn't make it into the game which is unfortunate. I love that there's a leaderboard and played a few times to see if I could get on it (pretty close, 88 was my highest). I thought the game didn't need a tutorial but then I played it and learned how to shrink!

I'm not sure who did the sound/music on your large team but they did a decent job. The coin sound I think sounded like it echo'd in a somewhat cluttered way, it'd be better to be a softer singular sound. The music gave adventurous but maybe not "falling". I'm listening off my work computer's laptop speakers though so I could be totally off. Good job team!

Thank you a lot! This might be one of the best comments a developer could ever get 😻.

This game feels so polished , it's really cool! The artwork is especially adorable. My only complaint is that I struggled to use X as the shrink button while also using WASD to move around (my fingers just don't work that way).  Other than that it's a super fun quick game that made me want to play over and over again!
Does the difficulty also scale to get easier if the player turns out to be very bad? Asking for a friend haha

Developer

haha… Sadly at the moment it does not, but your friend can take comfort knowing that I probably played it more than anyone, and I’m also not very good at it…

Cool art and funny sounds!
It was difficult to learn to play, but it seemed, i did it. Thank you for tutorial!

Developer

We do hope the tutorial was useful.  I myself had trouble with some jam entries without instructions.

Omg such cute art! I think the mechanics/controls were simple yet effective :)

Developer(+1)

Thank you! 2/3 of our team were artists, and I think it shows 😹

Submitted(+2)

Such a unique art style, your game looks so great (as does the itch page for the game as well, so pretty)! Gameplay is very simple and fun, I just don't feel the "shrinking" added much (although it is there it's not a game changer) BUT it is a really good and fun game overall, congrats!

Developer(+1)

We mentioned it a few times, but yeah, the shrink was a last-minute ditch.

Submitted(+2)

the art is really strong and the animations are good too, the shrink mechanic feels out of place and sometimes I get so small its hard to see myself in all the chaos, I had a fun time playing it and I'm impressed with the polish it has!

Developer

It's really good Mark gave us a 4-day period to polish the build.

Submitted(+2)

Very fun!  Great execution of the idea.  My only complaint is that the rocks were hard to see and felt unfair at times.

Developer(+1)

thanks for playing. your complaint is acknowledged! we will keep that in mind next game jam for sure

Submitted(+1)

Good bit of fun, and beautiful looking game! I managed to make the leaderboard without using the shrink functionality or trying to dodge enemies

Developer (1 edit)

You figured out a secret to the strategy I use to play this, remember that the game changes if you play the same mode more than once "The difficulty scales with subsequent playthroughs, just don't refresh the browser"

I really enjoyed playing this game, I can feel the hard-working atmosphere in every pixel. Nice story, awesome gameplay fkin kobold xd

Developer(+1)

Thank you! We made the choice for a kobold because it makes sense that a kobold would jump in a week to get coins for a dragon.

(+1)

love your creation waiting for more games from your team <3

Developer

We'll be working on more stuff really soon!

The parallax looks amazing! Everything in the game does, I just didn't expect that sort of polish from a weekend game jam, great job. I wish there was a "floor" or something to know that we are getting to the bottom of the run

Developer

we worked hard to get it to a polished state before the deadline! thanks for the comment :)

(+1)

Very slick concept and aesthetic! I found it a tad too hard for me but nothing that couldn't be tweaked!

Developer

thanks!! yeah, for the 60 second gameplay on Challenge mode we had to make it kind-of hard so that it would be a competitive 60 seconds ;)

Submitted(+2)

The pixel art and animation is nicely done and the swinging and collecting coin sound is pretty satisfying!

Developer

Thank you! We worked really hard to make the game look and sound great! We're glad you like it!

8.5/10 Great art and artstyle! Loved the adjustable SFX and BGM and the sliders were so cute!!! The RNG aspects of this game are great for a replayability and it's so satisfying to grind for a good run. Other than the Debris blending into the background (kinda the point though since the debris is part of the materials from the background), the game feels mostly fair! A little more I-frames for our lil kobold and more knockback against enemies and I'd give this a 10/10 Can't wait to see more from you all!!!

- SussyAizen (also on YouTube :3)

Developer(+1)

Thank you for the feedback! A great idea for the future would be to implement powerups in the form of gems that allow our little kobold friend to have more control in the air, dash, and break/eliminate obstacles/enemies.

Submitted(+1)

Great and coherent style, and some nice feel to the gameplay! I feel like the obstacles could have been easier to see, but it was quite satisfying to grab the coins, though i do wish i could spend them at some kind of falling shop

Developer (1 edit)

thanks for the feedback! youre totally right about the background  and the enemie's colors being wayy too similar! lots of people have pointed that out .

Submitted(+2)

Phenomenal art style, all around great sound too. I think the music track was quite good as well but I wanted it to be a bit clearer, it was a tad over compressed (you can get away with high quality ogg from 24/28 for small projects like this). The game itself was fun, not a lot of content, but what was there was quite polished!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing, your feedback is appreciated!

Submitted(+2)

pretty fun! i liked the concept and visuals, although the parallax effect was a little nauseating for me and lead to some visual clarity issues, i often felt like i was taking damage because i literally couldn't see the obstacles. but genuinely this has some really fun gameplay underneath that, i'm quite impressed with it! great work from all of you

Developer

Thanks for taking the time to play our game & for providing us with feedback!
