How does your game fit the theme?
This game fits "Built to Scale" in three ways. Firstly, you "scale" by getting larger each time you level up. Secondly, as the game progresses and you level up you scale in the sense that you get stronger as you select your "build" from three possible powers at each level up. Finally, you play as a dragon. Dragons have scales!

This was quite the game, artstyle is beautiful, only thing is to make certain things slightly more visible.
Great soundtrack, and the game itself is very addicting. Well done!
Thank you so much for the kind words! I'm hopelessly addicted to getting a high score as well.
Love the art style of this, almost like playing on a medieval tapestry! The gameplay is fun and the power-ups add a lot of replay value and agency as you scale in power.
It's a little hard to notice when you've taken damage, maybe add more visual indicators and a few frames of invincibility to allow players to correct their position. Great submission!
Thanks for the kind words! I understand the concern. Honestly thought the screen shake was enough haha. Invincibility could be a good idea for sure, or at least some hit stop for a second to consider what to do next.
I really liked the power up options you have and how it lets the gameplay progress more smoothly. We have a similar game so it was fun to see how different a game with the same mechanics can feel! The art and story all very cohesive and I love the music!
Thanks for the kind words, glad you liked it! We'll definitely check yours out, I'm also curious about a different take.
Really nice game ! Really cute art style and the gameplay is fun and makes you always want to try again for a high score !
My only complaint is that I'm not a fan of having to spam the space key, my wrist gets tiered really quickly.
But other than that great job!
Yeah...that's definitely a major problem. It would be a hard problem to fix and still keep the arcadey vibe of the game...which I guess is why I'm glad it's a game jam game and I don't need to solve that problem haha! Thank you so much for the kind words though!!
Great game. Love the art style. It's very fast paced, which makes the beginning difficult, but once you level up, the abilities really start compounding and you become a beast! I would maybe suggest an auto fire in the style of a bullet heaven, but if that's not what you were going for I think it's great as is. If you do leave it on manual button mash, then I would suggest allowing power-up selection with WASD and select with SPACE because I'm navigating with my left(WASD) and mashing with my right(SPACE). When I have to select a power up I'm likely to get hit coming out of the menu before my right hand returns to the SPACE bar because of how fast the games is. Amazing job!
That's a really good idea. Definitely should be able to choose a power without taking your hands off the keyboard.
Glad you enjoyed it, thanks for playing!
Interesting art style, simple mechanics. It was way too hard tho, I would have preferred a little slower enemy projectiles, in order to be able to dodge them
Do you mash the attack button? It's inspired by arcade games like Galaga, which, I guess, were a bit of a coin swallower back in the day. Early in the game development the game was a bit easier but as we played we realized it was way too easy so we upped the difficulty (and may have swung too hard). Once you level up a few times the difficulty seems to go back down until the harder enemies come out. Thanks for the feedback, I'm not trying to discount what you're saying just giving my stream of consciousness, I'm sorry you didn't enjoy!
ok, ok, no worries :) I'll try to play again later, maybe I didn't have the patience to wait for the level ups to help me.
I genuinely appreciate the feedback!
I tried again, got 10.100, I see what you said about leveling up. Indeed, the harder enemies did demolish me in the first playthroughs. I once found a healing upgrade and it seemed to be a lot helpful, indeed smoothing the difficulty. The rounds without any health upgrade were really difficult tho. I know it's a pain to balance these games ; ) I enjoyed playing, well done!
Thanks! And thanks for giving it another chance!
Really liked the graphics, but damn is this difficult! I managed to get past the first swarm, but after that I’m struggling hehe. Maybe not my genre of games, but I felt like the projectiles were either too fast, or my dragon moves too slow.
Yeah I noticed that people who don't really play arcade games sometimes don't get it. You really gotta mash the spacebar to have a chance, we probably should have made that clear. If that's not the issue, I agree that sometimes it's hard but after a few playthroughs you get better pretty quick!
It looks cool but I cannot start the game on mac.. :(
Oh dang! Someone on the team has a Mac and it worked on theirs so I'm sorry that it didn't work for you! Even the embedded web version?
I like the interesting art style, never seen something like that before. Really cool!
Thanks!!
The art style is cool and it's a decent side scrolling shooter. The roguelike mechanics are simple but fun
Thanks! It's just a bit of fun! We find it pretty addicting.
I have to agree on the art style, looks great!
Every second is completely new... Just how many enemies did you make??
Overall great game! Deserves more comments right now.
Thank you so much for the kind words! I think there's 6 enemies plus some variants. Glad you enjoyed!
