It's a really small game. And I think the concept of tower defence where the tower grows is cool but overused.
I actually wasn't sure if my idea of having a tower defense with a growing tower was unique or not. Could you tell me what other games also explore this concept?
You can just type the word "tower" in the search bar and there will be many simillar games.
there is nothing else to do besides placing the towers

Fun game, I would get even more hooked if there are different type of weapons or ranks to the balista, and some way to spend the coins after the last floor. Well done.
PS the game loop music is very cozy.
Really fun and addicting game, even with how simple it is! It'd be cool if you could also buy temporary weapons to wipe out enemies, like maybe an anvil that you can drop that does more damage depending on how high up you drop it? Either way, really fun game and I hope see more added onto it soon!
The game is very simple, but there's something oddly satisfying about building a tower 33 floors high and then watching an endless barrage of arrows rain down on your enemies! It did get a bit laggy, but that's probably due to me letting it run for twenty minutes straight. I also love the sound and art. Great job!
Thank you!
very short but very sweet! if this had more turret/tower types, I think I would actually purchase this game
NO WAY, thank you so much! That is the most impactful 8 word sentence I've read since starting gamedev. It will be a long while before I actually reach a quality level where I can even hope to make money, but I'm glad to know that my games are approaching the point where people can imagine themselves enjoying it to that extent. Based on all of the positive feedbacks I'm feeling really inspired to keep working on it if only to add more turrets and enemies. I will probably still keep the scope small (like a 10-25 minute game) since making even this simple demo took everything I had.
I wish the best of luck to you! That's not a phrase I throw around lightly :)
Having a tower defense take advantage of the Y axis is a nice creative choice. The game isn't rich content-wise, but the few things it has are done really well!
love a good ol tower defense, made it to the top! just wish there were a few more choices
Very fun concept. I particularly enjoy that I get to keep the portions of my building above a failure--I wonder if this were expanded upon if there could be a strategy in allowing portion of a building to fall (say, purchasing some kind of bomb upgrade for that slot and then detonating it when I lose a section to clear a horde). Very cool!
Holy crap that's a great idea. I considered having the ability to upgrade/purchase different floor types when brainstorming but I couldn't think of anything much plus I had to scope down the initial idea to fit the jam. This one is really cool because it makes special use of the towers being individual segments! thanks!
Simple and easy. I would've loved to see what other turret designs you came up with, especially since the gameplay doesn't have much depth. But it sure is satisfying to play!
Even though the game's original design is to be a strategic game (I think?). I quite enjoy building the tower high and watching it destroy the monsters like a cookie clicker kind of game. The chill music and the ticking sound is a nice vibe in my opinion and I wouldn't mind playing it more as if it's a cookie clicker with bigger numbers and more upgrades to the turrets and big enemies.
I also quite like the damage ui text too. Simple but effective.
This is a really fun spin on "tower defense." I can image something like this becoming a full game with different kinds of turrets and/or building blocks.
I was very satisfying scrolling up and down my tower watching my turrets kill everything before they can damage me. The sound effects in the game were on point, itches my brain in just the right way.
That's good to hear because I literally did all the sound effects In the morning after I woke up and had only 4 hours left to submit. I just used jsfxr to generate some pixel noises that I thought sounded good and I'm glad I was right because I didn't have time to pick and choose!
I don't know why but strangely addicting to play.
probably the same effect of cookie clicker ahah
I don't know why my game gives off idle/incremental game vibes. I didn't intend it but I really like how it turned out
Welp I hit the top (floor 33) pretty easily. really fun game but it gets kind of repetetive at floor 10. There is no real difficult or threat to the tower. time to see if the coins will overflow at the 32bit interger limit moehihihihii
The coins are going to overflow off the screen before that happens LOL
I played for a while, i must admit it lol
It's pretty addicting and the graphics were pretty nice (sadly lacks of animations) but i still enjoied it a lot!
There is also like 100% win rate every time, so i would add (if you want to continue this game) something that would actually require extra things to do, like maybe needing to go back to the first floors to upgrade the crossbows or to replace them with other weapons. Nice idea overall! :D
Yeah... I didn't have time to add different turret types and upgrades, but if I did then I would balance the game to be challenging. Because I was stuck with only one turret (and therefore no strategy on the players part) the least I could do was let the player build to the top and watch the enemies die, which was why I made it so easy.
It seems we had very similar game ideas with enemies rushing a growing tower. We wanted to add some flying enemies but didn't quite get around to it (I think your implementation here is better than we were thinking anyways).
I enjoyed the journey upwards. It's almost something I'd want as a screensaver or idle game to watch toil away in the background.
Right? As I was making the game it started to give me idle/incremental game vibes and alot of my friends say the same. I feel like it's the music.
Thanks for the feedback on the background! I wanted it to feel rewarding for the player to build the tower higher so I wanted to make it look really cool with the colors, clouds, and stars.
Really cool concept for game! It's actually good thing there isn't more content or else I wouldn't have time to play other games and play this one instead haha. My only nitpick would be that you can't buy turrets by clicking on their price tag.
I really like a lot of things about this game but it lacks a bit of content to be less repetitive.
You really nailed the satifying feeling seeing the ennemy go "poof..". The player's feedback on building and killing is really on point. Overall, the polishing is very good.
The gamedesign is super, i could really play this game for long with more content, keep it up :) !
Thank you so much! I wish I could have added more content but I overscoped and I was just barely able to pull everything together. I also couldn't resist adding polish before the mechanics were even done. I'm excited though because with a little bit of cleaning up on the systems I could make tons more turret and enemy types to expand the gameplay and introduce a challenge.
If you update your game after the jam, please ping me, i will be hype to play it!
The aesthetic and the music was good. The core gameplay idea was good but there was very little choice. Maybe some different types of weaponry on the sides so that there's something to think about. Either way, it feels like a great foundation but not really a game with any challenge yet.
