How does your game fit the theme?
As time goes on, you go from a small tree to massive. And as society builds around you, it does the same. There's a thematic element to it as well, about how small the human race is compared to nature as a whole.

Very unique concept I would have never thought of playing as a tree. Seeing your roots and the progress you have made was satisfying. Though it took me a very long time to figure out how to play. For a while it was like searching diamonds in minecraft for me I was going very deep thinking there would be underground water reservoirs until I figured out I need to reach the puddles.

Nice concept, first time I've played as a tree and it was really fun! Getting to the ponds was hard at first. The trick I figured out is to align the camera in tree mode with the pond and then just press forward until you reach it. Not sure if that's intended since it makes the game very easy. The pixelated artstyle is cool but made me feel nauseous after a while (especially in root mode). Still I love how creative this games interpretation of the theme is!

You’re right about the strategy - although it doesn’t seem like many people figure this out so hopefully people don’t read this and cheese it. It’s because for most of the project, going through concrete took way more water, but I had to lower it because it made the game too hard. The strategy you’re talking about is a little side effect of that, maybe placing more metal (the black stuff you can’t go through) around the map would have been a good idea.

Fun concept! The visual effect of digging through the underground was neat. It was difficult to precisely aim for puddles, but maybe that was the idea. Overall this was an interesting concept of scale!

We had a similar idea! But ended up going in a different direction. Nice work

Developer

Ooh interesting. Definitely gotta try yours

Super unique concept!

My favorite part is getting the birds eye view from the tree and seeing the root paths I made. Finding water also feels really good. I am honestly really impressed that you were able to make this in just 4 days, it is very polished and while it can take a minute to grasp the game it actually is surprisingly intuitive.

if you expand on this after the jam, I would love to see the player be allowed to resume a route from one root to extend it in additional directions.

Great work, it was a really unique experience. (being the root is also so trippy and strange. I liked that._

It does take a bit to get use to controlling the roots, so I’m always grateful when people in the comments stick with it and end up enjoying it. Thanks man

Really interesting idea—it’s clear that you put an enormous amount of work and thought into it. Amazing job!

Developer

Thanks so much man, im gonna give ur game a shot now

The idea is incredible! I don't know how it's possible to come up with something like this in such a short time. The game itself needs some stylistic improvements, sometimes I was unable to understand what was happening on the screen. The gameplay is really complicated, and that's cool. I think this project may have a future

Thanks man

oh my gosh, feel like i'm a tree.
But I ran out of water to suck, can it produce more water?

Developer(+1)

Some years have more puddles than others, if there’s no puddles you need to go forward if you can

Damn, concept for this game is super cool! At first I was a little bit confused, but it turned out to be quite interesting. Good job.

A really fun game. Fun to play, even if the controls are a bit confusing at first. Great work!!

good game i liked the graphics

there's something about this game that i can't describe, there's not a single thing i would change about it, the thumbnail caught my eyes and as soon as it was booted up i was enamored, i watched my friend do a couple playthroughs and not make it far enough to see the end and i had to see it for myself and wow- i got shivers, even though it was telegraphed throughout the whole game, the music was perfect, the sounds were perfect, the gameplay loop feels great even though it seems dumb in concept, "you are a tree" this is unhinged, this is beautiful, it's crazy you made something like this for a jam, i love it so much everything from the mechanics to the visuals are perfect, cool thing you made here

Developer

Thank you so much made my day

Developer

Yo your game and art is actually fire would you want to collab for a future jam?

Submitted(+1)

This is the game I'd never come up with if not having seen this. So inspiring

Developer

Thanks!

Interesting idea! It was definitely hard to see where I was going.

A tree is perfect for the theme! The controls were a bit confusing but great concept overall.

Submitted(+1)

This is such an interesting idea! Also love the metaphor you leaned into for this jam, really meaningful! I did have trouble understanding the controls, but after a bit I really liked what you had! Great job!

Submitted(+1)

Cool take on the game idea. Little confusing controls.

Submitted(+1)

Great concept, loved to see how things changed as time passed! One quality of life thing would just be some way to indicate which way is up when underground as it was easy to get lost. But overall thoroughly enjoyed it!

Developer(+1)

That's a good point, yeah. I wanted to have an arrow facing north all the time but didn't have time.

Yea totally get it - crunch time is tough
