This is an intriguing take on the theme with really interesting puzzle opportunities! I love the mechanic of moving the light source to raise/lower the character/shadow. However, at times it could hard to tell which was actually standing on the ground. Maybe an indicator or highlight could be added to whichever character is actually in control of the jumping? And as others have said, it would be helpful if there was some indication of the light source.

There are also some small glitches, but they didn't detract too much from the experience, and I was able to mostly avoid them once I knew about them.

This game kind of reminds me of old Indonesian shadow puppet theater called Wayang. Thematically, I think it would also be cool if the main character was like a shadow puppet of some kind.

Overall, this is a really cool concept, even if it is a bit rough around the edges!

Cinematics and controller support. What can't you guys do. Amazing job.

Love the artistic style of this entry! Well done :)

Super cool concept! Feedback was already routed through Wind, but I genuinely think this has a lot of potential! (My brain hurts, though.)

Developer

Thank you. We really appreciate your feedback and will for sure look at implementing some of your suggestions after the jam.

The character art is really good. The gameplay is a bit confusing, but the concept is awesome. I'd love to see more work put into this project.

Developer

Yeah our character animator knocked that one out of the park!

Woah! The concept is really interesting, I love the creativity. I think with some polish and debugging this idea could be used for a really good full game. Good job!

I love the idea and think it's very cool but I couldn't get past the first level. I think an icon of where the light is projecting with perspective lines would give a stronger connection of how shifting the light changes the shadow and object position. Overall a fun concept and can see the depth that comes with such a mechanic.

Developer

Yeah sorry about the bugs. I like the idea of an icon though!

Yeah, getting it all to work was hard but I’m glad the mechanics shone through. Glad you enjoyed it!

Lovely animation and art style. Clean tutorial which I feel like many games miss out on. The immediate first level after the tutorial is a bit of a brain twister to throw at you so early, but I liked it and it felt very satisfying to get through. The controls could do with a bit of polishing, there were a few times where the character just got stuck and I had to spam jump to get moving again.

Very engaging and interesting puzzles. Would like there to be more levels!

Developer

Thank you. As would we. Hopefully we will make a Post-Jam update with the levels expanded and some bug fixes.

I was half expecting Bury the Light to start playing, very cool mechanics, and creative theme!

Looks cool!!

Felt a little jank but nothing too bad. The style and creativity is most impressive, definitely one of the more unique puzzle platformers ive played, nice work!

Developer

It’s a game jam, Embrace the Jank! (or we ran out of time and didn’t get all the bugs.)

really really cool concept and nice visuals. if you look past the movement bugs, its really fun and interesting to shift between the two versions of yourself, it lets you get creative which is nice.

A bit buggy at times but the concept and style totally make up for it. 5-start on all categories for me.

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much. Unfortunately the movement system was very complicated so we couldn't solve all the problems in the 96 hours we had. I'm glad you enjoyed it despite that though.

Saw this in the GMTK server, I love the mix of 3D and 2D art and the shadow shrinking and expanding mechanic is so cool and refreshing. Love it!

I loved the idea, the voice acting, the theme, the concept but i seemed to get stuck a lot in the ground on the level after the tutorial and couldnt move, just barely moving or jumping got me stuck, SUPER game though!

Developer

Ah sorry to hear that. The big thing is moving the light up and down to be sure whether the player or shadow is on the ground. But it is a trick.

Great idea, you might as well make a full game out of it.

Such a cool concept! The ability to move the light source really adds a lot to the depth of the movement, and the character art is really fun

You guys definitely broke my brain a little, but very fun!
