Between the graphics, music, other SFX, and gameplay, the game really feels like one of those old high quality browser games that one could play in ye olden days. Well done to the team! My only comment is that the book of recipes can start to be pretty small once getting to stage two and beyond.

Developer

Wow, thank you for the kind words! The team will be very happy to hear that! Yes, this was an issue we ran into. We did implement a camera focus on the book with the Enter key, but it's quite tough to tutorialise with everything else.

Maan, this game looks (and sounds) so pretty, but I got blank pages in the book in web version on FF (and Chrome) @ Linux :(

Developer (1 edit)

Oh really? I'm very sorry to hear that. We weren't able to test on Linux in the time frame, and weren't aware that this was an issue that could happen. Is this a common issue with other games here too?

Submitted(+1)

No, other web exports work okay so far. Looks like one of the passes/shaders don't draw anything, maybe FF under linux don't support some extensions, or maybe my video driver borked up smh :(

Developer

Thank you for getting back to us! Our programmer is asleep at the moment, but I think he would be interested in this issue. It's great feedback to hopefully avoid this next time! I hope you get a chance to play it on another device (mobile technically works but is quite laggy as it wasn't intended for that). Otherwise, thank you again for your time!

Submitted

On mobile everything works fine (but slow xD). Feel free to dm me in discord - landsknecht_ at gmtk server, I will be glad to help debug the issue.

ERROR: Shader GMTK 2024.framework.js.gz:3:36099
Hidden/Universal Render Pipeline/Edge Adaptive Spatial Upsampling shader is not supported on this GPU (none of subshaders/fallbacks are suitable)

Gives me this, hope this helps.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for sharing this! Obviously we can't submit a new build because GameJam but we'll take a look into this so that we can try and prevent it for next time!

Submitted(+1)

Good music and art, but it was difficult to check potion recipes in the book :)

Developer

Thank you. Yes, that was an issue we were worried about. We implemented a camera focus on the book to deal with it, but it was hard to tutorialise along with everything else. Good feedback though!

The thumbnail and pictures made me think this was an irl print out paper game.

Pretty fun.

Developer

Oh wow, that's some very high praise, thank you!

Submitted(+1)

The game is beautiful ! I really like the use of the theme, I however have been looking for one type of tile I didn't have anymore and it could be frustrating to make other potions and not see the one tile you are looking for spawning. But the concept is original and really well explained, congrats, the end result is stunning

Developer

I'm sorry that happened, it didn't come up during out testing, the most I ever had to click the deck for new cards was three or four times.  Glad you were still able to enjoy the game!

Submitted(+1)

I'm maybe very unlucky ahah

Submitted

Not really a fan of matching games sorry, but the art style is great! good job!

Developer(+1)

That's a shame, but I'm glad you enjoyed the art nonetheless!

Submitted(+1)

This was a really cool take on a matching game! I enjoyed it a lot great work.

Developer

Thank you for the kind words! Glad you enjoy playing :)

Submitted(+1)

Super cool game! Took a bit to figure out a method but once it clicked, everything fell together and it was super satisfying. Really great job!

Developer(+1)

Glad you enjoyed it! We're pretty happy with our efforts this time round, so thank you for your kind words!

Submitted(+1)

Very nice looking, and sounding game!

Developer

Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it :D

Submitted(+1)

This game is really well polished! Fantastic work!

Developer

Thank you very much! We really tried to use the extra time this year on bug fixing and polish, so it means a lot to have it noticed!

Submitted(+1)

The game is really satisfying and polished! I wish the glow effect was a bit less overwhelming so that I could see the cards more easily haha

Developer

Yes, after having a break from development and looking back at the game, it is indeed quite a lot of glow! Thank you for the feedback and lovely comment!

Submitted(+1)

Very stylish matching game! Very satisfying visuals and sounds. I appreciate the two different modes (Cosy and timed) as well!

Developer

Thank you very much! The two modes turned out to be really helpful in the end, so I'm very glad they got added! Glad you enjoyed it!

Submitted(+1)

Very pretty game,  Really nice and cosy aesthetic, and simple controls help make it really easy to pick up and play. Really good work!

Developer

That's really good to hear, as it was we were aiming for this year! Thank you for playing!

Submitted(+1)

nice visuals, very charming!

Developer

Thank you! We're quite proud of this entry!

Submitted(+1)

This is so well made! Everything fits together so nicely!

Developer

Thank you for the lovely comment! I'm glad you liked it!

Submitted(+1)

its so cute, sfx and musics fit super well !

Having headache because I get only blacks pot at then end (made 10 of them to be sure xD)

great entry, well done !

Developer

Oh dear, that's a shame! We would love to hear more about what had happened, as that sounds like a new bug! But I'm glad that you were able to have fun regardless, thank you!

Submitted(+1)

I don't think it was a bug, only a realy bad luck in Rng (Got all the receives with Black potion ones, so passed my life to make black little pots xD)

Developer

Ah, okay, that makes sense! The dangers of pure randomness I guess!

Submitted(+1)

This game has a very nice graphic! I love the skeuomorphism effect of the book flips in the tutorial and the crunchiness of the sound effect. Maybe because I am running it on macOS, the game feels a bit laggy due to the lighting effects. But the game itself is very beautiful, would really love to play this game again!

Developer

Thank you for the kind words (I had to google skeuomorphism :D)! We put more emphasis on optimisation this year, but none of the team own a mac, so that's a blind spot for us! Sorry to hear you were having issues

(+1)

i love this game! my only piece of feedback is that combining the vials into potions is not very colorblind friendly. it was hard to tell which vial had which potion in it just off of the color.

Developer(+1)

Yes, a very good point! The legibility of the book and colour selection is super important, and this thought did come up on the last day but we never had time to address it sadly. Thank you for the feedback though, we'll take this into the next one!

Submitted(+1)

Really neat, nice to look at, good soundtrack. It needs fullscreen to see the whole book, which is okay. Good job!

Developer

Yeah, we added a zoom in for the book, but it's easy to miss that. GameJam things i guess! Thank you for the lovely words!

(+1)

Really cool game!

Developer

Thank you!
