Thanks for posting the walkthrough, because I probably would have given up looking for that worm. Cool idea, it was fairly surreal, and I like surreal games. The zooming makes it especially hard to figure out what's interactable though, and the genre is already notorious for pixel hunting, so it would've been nice if some of that was clearer.

Developer

Thanks for your feedback! It seems to be a recurring theme that the main criticism about our GMTK jams is janky controls, oops. Totally valid, though! I guess at least now we know what we'll have to put a special focus on next time :)

Great execution of the theme! I was able to grow the flower and everything, but I was unable to put the fishing line on the rod (I could be wrong, but I think it goes there). Besides the potential bug, great game.

Developer

Thanks for checking out our game! You'll need to find some bait for the fishing line first (SPOILER: hidden in the cell in the mouse's nose) and combine the two items. Clicking the fishing rod can also be a bit finicky, but it should work.

Also i really like the base sound effect for clicking on stuff LMAO

This........ was hella FUN!!

This is the first game from my queue that I liked, honestly. It's awesome! Like a really cool flash game you played as a kid!

I.. genuinely have very little to complain about. This isn't the most "mind-blowing" interpretation of the theme, but then again I didn't need that to have a GREAT experience. The art was cute, too. I'm telling my friends about it. : ) GREAT job!!!

Developer

Aw, thank you so much, glad you enjoyed it! :) Yeah, this one was definitely inspired by old flash escape games like the Submachine series (also more recently the Rusty Lake series). Glad we were able to get that feeling across!

O_o I'm a massive submachine fan.

Nice stuff, really liked the zoom idea, somewhat reminded me of Gorogoa, cute drawings too.

I think the zoom direction was a little fidgety, it might have been better to do click-to-zoom (+click-to-zoom-out) instead of pitch / mousewheel, so it would be more obvious when a "zoom choice" was happening.

I did brute-force the last number of the code, but I guess that's on me for ruining my own fun. As they say: "Given the opportunity, players will optimize the fun out of a game."

Developer(+1)

Hey, that's what I always say! :D

Thanks for the feedback. I agree that the zooming is a bit weird at the moment, but one of our design goals was to have the ability to zoom freely, which is why we didn't go for the more classic click approach. Maybe I'll figure out a way to make the controls less janky after the jam :)

i like the interception at the end but seems like i didnt require to use the wood (if i not wrong i suppose to use with the matches) great job btw!

Developer

Thank you! Yup, that is a logic bug we didn't catch during testing. Will probably be fixed in a post-jam update.

Loved the game, moderately difficult and beautiful design!

Developer

Thanks a lot! :)

L-O-V-E-D your game !! very reminiscent of those old flash room escape games I played when I was a child. You owned the theme of the JAM

Developer

Thank you so much! Yeah, We were definitely inspired by Rusty Lake and Mateusz Skutnik games.

Fantastic. Simply fantastic.

great use of the scaling! love the work, maybe would want a better was to zoom especially on the tree but really great!

Developer(+1)

Thank you! Yeah, zooming is a little wonky. Using our current room transitioning system, I couldn't think of a better way though where you could still zoom smoothly everywhere. Maybe we simply have to adjust the level design around it.

How? This is incredible for a jam game. A perfect utilisation of the theme. Can't fault it in anyway.

Developer

Aw, thanks a lot! We really appreciate it! :)

Holy sh*t this honestly blew my mind. Great use of the theme and was really fun. Well done!!

Heh, thank you so much! Making this work was more of a technical challenge than I had expected, but it was very fun to do so :)
