Great game ! Althrough i had some problems since i played on the web version, a lot of people won't download the version so that might cause an inconvenience for them, and thus give bad ratings. Be careful of that next time, but other than that you did a good job ! ( gonna download it and try it for a better experience now :) )
Yeah, such is the problem of game jams, from one side, game that is only downloadable is going to have better performance, but less people will play it, but from other side, you get exact opposite if you do only web browser. Thanks for playing the game! c:
The game looks awesome and uncomfortable (if you're trying to achieve that feeling)
but I didn't finish the game tho, there's some bug in the website build, that after I press ESC to check some stuff the cursor just won't go back into that game and I didn't want to start over ;<
Thanks for the review! Yeah, I didn't think it through in terms of web build as I kinda lacked time for QA tests, though when I last checked, if you turn on pause mode in minimized form, click fullscreen mode again and then click resume button then everything should work fine, but I understand that it was oversight on my part. Thanks for playing!
Nice aesthetic-based game. It was good overall and the ending at first just confused me but as I thought about it there's definitely something sinister about it - the weird, robotic bird noise and the fact that you're still trapped, just on an island this time. So I liked the ending, but as for the objects, it was pretty hit and miss. To be honest the game probably would have been better with half as many objects, a lot of them don't feel like there was much going on except going somewhere and pressing E. But some of them were really good - the jumpscare got me horribly, the eye monster was cool, the one that's further away and looks like the object is a baby - very creepy and ominous. Getting to the tower probably should have just been a teleport as well, even with the sped up animation it took up a lot of time. Other than that though it was pretty great.
Thanks for the review! Yeah, my main issue is that I always make maps too big and then try to fill it up with content instead of simply making map smaller and having less content, but it being more polished. Glad you enjoyed it!
That teepee got me! Great aesthetic, interesting world. The gameplay was a little repetitive after 7 times but this is already better than I expected for a game jam, so nice work! One note that I jumped on the friend guy and got stuck, whoops.
Thanks for the review! I do agree that it is quite repetitive since mechanics for each item weren't made in time and I didn't have time to polish the tower ascending mechanics. I mentioned in description that player can get stuck so there was assigned O key to reset player position. Thanks for playing!
Really awesome aesthetic! Game has a great mood, and was fun to explore. I really liked the 'e' tower-ascend helper - the rapid fire ascent felt fun. Only recommendation would be to have more little mechanics for the zones, like the ice ray or the tent surprise, in order to mix up the experience for getting the next object, but with the time limit of the jam, only so much you can do.
Thank you for the review! You described my thoughts/issue very well. Glad you enjoyed it!
Great entry. The vibe and world was something I was very into. Loved it!
Oh, thank you very much for playing my game and enjoying it!
I always love the idea to build a tower ( and fail lol). Thank you for making this!
Thank you for playing the game c:
I really enjoyed the vibe of this game. Everything feels so mysterious and abstract, so that I want to learn more about this world. In my first playthrough the clock went out of bounce so i had to restart the game. I also think the game lacks some additional gameplay features, but i get it when you didn't managed it due to time constraints. Despite that i think you did a awesome job. Keep it up!
Thank you very much for the kind words! Glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks for the game loved the minimalistic art. However, in the beginning, it was hard to understand what to do. Also, I couldn't really understand why the selected items were like that, maybe you could have selected the items around a story, that would definitely make it more interesting.
A possible bug: The item like the mask inside the hut just disappeared when I was trying to grab it.
Thank you for the review! Those items were supposed to be belongings of other denizens, but I didn't have time to integrate more story. The mask bug seems weird, most likely clipped out of map since Godot colliders tend to do that sometimes.
It confused me at first, but it became really interesting once I understood what to do. I think the game would be better with more puzzles, quest elements, or other challenges. I love the location, it's so diverse
Thank you for the review! I planned more features, but typically I didn't have time!
I would say, the concept is there, but the execution seems a little lacking? I really liked that pixelated effect, and the idea of having a tower that rises and rises higher and higher. But the gameplay overall wasn't that interesting, basically collecting stuff and returning it - which is a shame, because the areas the items come form are all unique and really creative. It seems like a solid start to build a game ontop, with added mechanics and more ideas!
Thank you for the review and good constructive criticism! I do agree that my game is a little bit feature-less and that's because I overscoped a bit yet again and didn't have time to implement gimmick to every item (which I already planned)! Thanks for playing the game c:
Overscoping - couldn't happen to us. Wait. Oh, oops, it did... I guess that happens to everyone, you think "how hard could it be?" or "that seems doable!", and faster than you can notice time passing, the deadline is already there! But I think that's just part of the experience. We're not here to present perfect pieces of art or game engineering, we're here to learn and to have fun with each other! And me and my teammate already had lots of fun, so that's a win in my book!
Wow, the story actually is incredible, it has got that mystery and that unconfort to it that i really like!
The pixelated style was actually nice but sometimes was a bit confusing, but the rest was amazing!
Sadly i didn't finished it, because maybe the eye object noclipped to the ground after i accidentally dropped it, and replaying from the point i was would take some time, but still i hope to continue this later when im free! Good job!
Thanks for the review! Actually in the description I mentioned that something like that may happen since Godot colliders sometimes get silly so I added O and P buttons to unstuck player and manually rise tower by one level. Still very appreciate that you played my game!
Oh shoot my bad then! Next time i'll consider this :
Really enjoyed my time in your game, was jump scared by a mask lmao! Unique take on the theme, great work
Glad you enjoyed it!
Man something about the aesthetic, low resolution with low poly models, just speaks to me. I absolutely love how this one looks. Jumped off the tower to see it grow and I appreciate the effort that went into making sure it looked cool from the bottom!
Thank you very much! I really like using pixelation effect since it allows you to save a lot of time on making textures and models.
This is one of the best games I've played so far! I enjoy the pixelated art style, the crunchy sound effects, and the surreal atmosphere!
My only criticism is how tedious it is to climb the tower every single time, even with the fast travel system.
Thank you for the kind words! I'm planning to look into improving the climbing mechanics.
Art style is awesome! Had fun finding all the different objects, it'd be cool to see more in-depth challenges in each area in a more complete version.
Thank you! They were planned, but overscoping and lack of time continue to be my enemy.
I love the style for this!
I was always looking forward to what the next area would provide, and I loved saying hi to the denizens :D
Thank you for review! I sure do like pixelation effect.
Hello fellow tower game dev. This game was super cool! The different areas were pretty interesting. My favorite part was when I was trying to talk to the red guy and I accidentally plucked off his eyeball and it scared the shit out of me. The only bad part I'd say is that even with the option of running up the tower quicker, it still takes a really long time and requires you to enter the input at every segment instead of taking you all the way to the top in one click.
Thanks for the review! It seems that it was a good thing to take extra time and implement moving-up--the-tower-quickly mechanic, although yeah, i also wanted to make it so it takes you all the way up, but yet again I over-scoped and didn't have time to implement it .
I like the little areas and the pixel filter. I also enjoyed the little story!
Thanks!
