This game is incredibly well put together. Whilst it seems very complex at first, it is actually quite easy to get the hang of. My first few attempts I died in a minute or less, but once I got a sort of strategy going (enough grabbers, only move in one direction, and shields), I managed to hold out for 4 minutes or so before getting bored (I got one of the larger tiles).
My biggest gripe is that the pacing it too slow, and that the craft you start with is too big. I wish there was a stronger feel of progression, cause currently I takes me a half a minute to a minute for every tile, and once they start getting bigger it is even worse. Perhaps the refinery/other tiles offer a solution to this, but I didnt get to figure that all out in the time I played.
Don't be fooled by the criticism though, you made a fantastic game for 96 hours, well done!
First off, good job getting a large tile in four minutes. It’s pretty difficult to get your first couple big tiles, but properly scales from there. We are very aware of how horrible the balancing is and wish we had more time to fix it.
As for the starting craft, we figured it was the most compact way to provide every necessity to someone who didn’t already know how to play. If it started without four thrusters, people might be confused why they couldn’t move in some directions, if it started with only one grabber, it would be annoying to see junk you are physically unable to get, no storage and you would die instantly, no fuel and you couldn’t move, no refinery and you couldn’t get fuel.
This issue could have (and may still be) solved with the addition of a tutorial that teaches you to collect stuff and build these things at the start.
Thanks for playing!
This game is really great. I think a tutorial would be nice but the info really helps in the descriptions. Its overwhelming but after spending time it really grew on me and was so much fun. Some polish and this game will be amazing!
Thank you! We will look into adding a tutorial when the voting period ends and gradually introducing mechanics.
This is a pretty great game! The music and the art is great and I enjoyed this spaceship building kind of thing.
Thanks for the compliments!
Great game, once you learn everything by reading the description its really fun to play, but this game could definitely use some sort of technique to be less overwhelming at first, slowly adding features as you play, because it looksvery confusing once you start with no tutorial or anything.
I agree, it can seem very overwhelming. We didn’t have much time left to teach the user how to play so we ended up putting everything in the description. We will probably update it at the end of the voting period to address these issues.
very nice ! maybe just a bit too slow overall, after 10min of I still didn't get any tier 2 ship tiles, but maybe it's me just being bad :p but overall I like the idea
Would be cool to see a health bar somewhere too
I agree it can take a while. We ran out of time trying to balance things better. As for a health bar- your ship is your health! Lose all of your needed tiles, and you are dead. Glad you liked it!
Nicely polished. I especially like the parallax background. Replayability is also good. Well done!
Thank you!
Thank you. You are the madlad who played this for 47min XD.
yep XD
Wow awesome entry. We loved the art style, the music and the whole atmosphere of the game. Really nice and creative!!
We put almost half our time into making it look and sound good :) Thank you for playing!
Very nice ! I really like this game <3 Very fun game !
Wtf this polish ! Very good job ^^
Thank you! We are very proud of it.
i really really liked this!! i wish there was a zoom button though,, it was just sliightly too zoomed in for my taste, great job otherwise!!
We thought about adding the ability to zoom, but more because your ship can get so big individual tiles are hard to see. Zooming out too much more would allow the player to see what's coming for them too early, but I agree the zoom could be adjusted a bit. I'm glad you enjoyed our game!
A really well-made game!
Thanks!
OMG this game is soooooo good. Unique gameplay which is very fun to play. Funny to see the toilet flying around. What a waste you didn't show any screenshot!
Thanks!! We really need to get to editing the website
the art is amazing particularly the Ui.. great submission.. good luck in the jam..
Thank you! I had a lot of... struggles making the UI.
Very unique concept and requires a certain strategy element to it! Having a tutorial that would explain or at least tooltips what each segment does would be helpful. Loved the style of the game and the art, it's really cozy, even though it's in deep cold space!
thank you. We'll improve the description page and add a bit off a guide too
Nice game, it's super satisfying to try and build a giant ship! I really like the grabber animations
That’s my favorite part, just becoming a massive junk eating monster :)
Glad you enjoyed!
Nice game! We had very similar ideas: https://anahatm.itch.io/starship-scale
We really did. Great job on yours!
Cool game! Love the building of the ship
Thanks!
Really cool game! I thought having to pick what goes where on your ship was added some interesting strategy!
Yep, a strategy I still can't master... Thanks for playing!
Great Game. Took a second to get the hang of it, but once I did I got hooked in. Really impressive how you gave a building a game a frantic fast pace nature too. One second I'm try to build my ship and then a flamingo comes barreling down toward me.
Thank you so much. This review is exactly what we were trying to induce into the player
That was a nice little game, I liked it, very polished, not bad at all!
Thank you! We put a lot of time into polish.
Super polished game, that is very pleasant to play ! Unfortunately I was not very good at it haha but still loved it congratulations.
It can be pretty hard at the start when you don't know what your doing. Thanks for playing!
